Predicted Lineups for the 2014/15 Premier League Season

Finally, I’m done with updating the probable lineups of all 20 teams in the Premier League for the start of the season. They are all links to line-up images, as I’ve done some research on most of the teams, especially the promoted ones. You can also see second-choice players for every position, and a hint of every alternative line-up.

Click here for my line-up document.

As you can understand, it is an ever-changing list with new ins and outs with every passing day, so I’ll try to keep it updated as much as possible. Moreover, the posts on FFS here have been of extreme help as I get the right news of who’s nailed-on and who’s not… and more of that. Hence, please continue to give your feedback, and I hope this document reaches as many FFS users as possible, as this is the only way the list can be made better.

Hope this is of some help to you.

Saniul Hope my defender doesn't score a OG in the final minute of the final GW, and I can finally make it to the top 100. :)

I can't see Pienaar starting. I'd swap him for Naismith and stick Kone up top.

That how I see it at the moment Saniul. Pienaar was very much out of favour last season and I can't see any reason for that to have changed.

He was injured for most of the season, not out of favour. Lukaku / Barkley / Mirallas / Pienaar / Barry / McCarthy is the likely formula IMO.

Last season we played 3 at the back but I reckon it will be 4-4-2 this season and 4-5-1 in tougher games. We now have much better midfield options with 2 new signings and the improving fitness levels of Brady and Aluko so we have to play more in midfield. Alex Bruce has absolutely no chance no matter what formation as Davies, Chester, Mcguire and probably Mcshane are ahead of him.

Cheers Saniul, just a few changes i'd make...

Arsenal: Arteta starting over Wilshere, Sánchez as a secondary option to Giroud.

Chelsea: Fabregas in the hole initially, with Willian out wide. Or Oscar central, Willian wide.

Everton: Pienaar and Mirallas swap wings(not too much of a biggie), McGeady as a secondary option to Pienaar. Besic as a secondary option to Barry, particularly when Europa League begins.

    Hull: Livermore over Meyler.

Man City: Fernandinho over Fernando, Sagna over Zabaleta initially(Zabaleta due a rest according to Pellegrini). Clichy as a secondary option to Kolarov.

Man United: Cleverley as a secondary option to Fletcher.

QPR: To a 3-5-2 potentially. Drop Hill into centre-back, Traore/Yun at left-back. Hoilett to in the hole. Henry rivalling O'Neil?

    Soton: Davis over Ramirez.

Spurs: Chiriches over Dawson, Sandro/Capoue over Bentaleb. Dembele rivalling Paulinho.

Stoke: Larsson to the right wing rivalled by Gomez, Bridcutt into central midfield.

Swansea: Ki/Canas/Britton(injured) next to Shelvey. Hernandez starting wide left.

West Brom: More like this: http://lineupbuilder.com/2014/custom/?sk=3wx16

    West Ham: http://lineupbuilder.com/2014/custom/?sk=3wx16

    So yeah...just a few

      I mostly agree.

I'm unsure about the QPR lineups, hardly any heads-up, nothing from the friendlies too.

Arsenal: I'm very sure Arsenal won't make the mistake of playing Arteta, again. Lost the ball TOO many times in crucial situations. Wilshere is the last option, ideally I would buy a DM.

Soton: Ramirez has started in all the friendlies so far, maybe a sign Soton want to recognise his quality?

Spurs: Chiriches might leave, a lot of Spurs fans have been saying that. Still would put him there if he doesn't leave eventually.

Wenger will play Arteta, no doubt about that, despite him being terrible.

Or Southampton want to auction him off? Either way, i'd expect him to start in the hole if he does start. Move Tadic to the left and have Davis/Ward-Prowse on the wing.

        Agreed.

He hasn't sodded off just yet, Monk really rates him so i'd expect him to play if he stays.

No Yacob is ludicrous, he's their best holding midfielder, he'll play.

there's no way oscar will play out wide for chelsea over willian or schurrle

i'd say that in a 4-2-3-1 then matic is nailed, paired with fab or ramires

haz nailed on the left, willian/schurrle starting every game on the right, oscar cam but at threat from fab if ramires starts next to matic

    OK,

Couple I want assurance over are Yun and Baird/Wisdom. I am tempted to go for Baird if you think he will play in the middle with Mulumbu. But I would have thought Yacob, Gardner would rival him surely?

I doubt Kolarov will start ahead of Clichy as well will he? Surely you need to have Clichy on there somewhere?

For Hull, Livermore is well ahead of Meyler in the middle, Elmo is by far first choice right back whilst Rosenior is just a squad player and Fig has absolutely no chance of starting this season. He was an embarrassment last season and Rosenior would have started ahead of him art left back, also with the signing of Robertson I expect him to start every game.
    Mcgregor
    Elmo - Davies - Chester - Robertson
    Snoddy - Huddlestone - Livermore - Ince/Brady/Aluko
    Jela - Long

Have a look if you still haven't: http://bit.ly/1oXINR5

    Posted on wrong article.

Just had a good look at all your lineups. Not bad, but there are still plenty of things wrong with Hull, QPR, Leicester, West Ham.

Hull - Rosenior won't play RB. Elmohamady will, and he's one of their most nailed on players. Then LB is a toss up between Figueroa/Rosenior/Robertson. There's also the possibility of a 3 at the back formation, which they use a fair bit.

QPR - Harry has said they'll be looking to play 3 CBs this season. Most likely defence would be Simpson, Ferdinand, Caulker, Hill, Traore.

Leicester - Wasilewski CB? He is backup RB. Will be Moore/Upson CB.

West Ham - You've left out the first name in their team. Mark Noble.

JWP and Tadic need switching around I think. Tadic is a natural left-footer who played wide left for Twente, JWP enjoys playing centrally. As Schneiderlin is now apparently staying, I'd suggest it would be between JWP and Davis for that CAM position atm.

Bentaleb won't be first choice, not when Capoue, Sandro, Dembele, Holtby and Chadli can all play central midfield and with rumours of Schneiderlin coming in also.

Also Lamela played for Roma on the right and with Rodriguez rumoured to be coming in for a place on the left it's more likely that Eriksen will be central. Until then Chadli may well have that left wing position.

Well Zin, I'd not updated the second CM for Spurs, because I thpught Schneiderlin will take it. However, after recent developkents, we need to reassess them in the friendlies, Holtby looks like the one who can get a step up.

As for Lamela, I've put him in the middle because that's where he has played in the last two friendlies, with Eriksen out wide. Cpuld well be the case.

I wouldn't read too much in these friendlies, seeing as the WC players are not back yet. Sigurdsson was named on the team sheet for the first friendly on the US tour and was withdrawn before them match to leave and sign for Swansea!

With regards to Lamela and Eriksen if you re-check the friendlies you'll see they both played a half in the hole in the most recent one. Pochettino still has decisions to make.

You'll likely need to wait for the final friendly to get a proper idea of the first XI.

Sorry my brain just kicked into action. Doh!

The Southampton line up needs changing for a rather more important reason. 4-2-3-1 is the old Poch way. Koeman has shown a preference for playing a 4-3-3, with three central midfielders rotating around, allowing the fullbacks license to get forward. It uses the same personnel, just orientated slightly differently. Tadic and whoever plays wide right (your Ramirez guess was as good as any) are pushed well forward. Cheers!

For the Newcastle team in the lineup builder:

Santon is injured so Haidara will deputise over Dummett.

Gouffran will likely be benched with Sissoko taking his spot in the midfield 3. Colback in next to Tiote with Anita benched.

Harsh on Gouffran and Anita but this lineup is the general consensus amongst fans at the moment.

Sorry for thr late reply Saniul. Ince is by no means a sure starter. Brady much more consistent and reliable imo. Aluko gonna push for a spot wide or behind the striker too. He's quality

Aluko will be almost always a sub and if Brucey sticks with the 3-5-2 then expect Brady to be used as a wing back as the season progresses. I would avoid the Hull midfield mostly but Brady is the best shout given his price if he can nail down a spot in any attacking positions. It will depend largely on formation choice.

    RMT
    Team Value - 98.5m

    De Gea - Krul
    F.Luis - Debuchy - Cameron - Mariappa - Collins/Ferdinand
    Mata - Eriksen/Lamela - De Jong - Shelvey - Tiote/Albrighton
    Rooney - Costa - Adebayor/Dzeko

Considering dropping De Jong and getting both Eriksen and Lamela. Also thinking about Siggy in for Shelvey assuming I can still afford it, a want a Swansea midfielder to rotate with Cameron. I will change any player who is not starting consistently.
I would also like B.Davies and Shaw in defence but can't see how to work them in, maybe Davies instead of Debuchy?
    Any suggestions would be good.
