The competition for the most talkative members of the Fantasy Football Scout community reaches the Last 16 stage in Gameweek 33. Here is a brief recap of what has happened in the tournament so far, and a look at the draw for the next round.
Gameweek 30
In the main qualifying element, there were 60 places up for grabs in the next round for the 97 participants. We Go For It and RoysCallerAnne eased through at the top with 73 and 70 points respectively. At the other end of qualifying three people tied for 59th place on 45 points. As ties are decided by OR in this competition, it was aa33 who was the odd-one out as he finished an agonising 61st , while Dunas_dog and Pukka scraped through by the skin of their teeth.
Gameweek 31
The 60 qualifiers from Gameweek 30 main qualifying round played each other in 30 head to head matches with the winners progressing to the last 32 in Gameweek 32.
This week’s Scout Picks community champion Jazz!, was the top scorer in the round with 71 points as he eliminated luckless Athletico Timbo, with Jay close behind as he defeated Lawro 69-46. The most eye catching match was between RoysCallerAnne and Potatoace, who scraped through in a 67-66 epic battle.
The bottom 37 from Gameweek 30’s main qualifying all competed against each other for one spot in the last 32, and it was Fred51 who claimed the position with 70 points, eight clear of nearest rival Speedyboyzzzz.
The final position in the Last 32 went to Netley Lucas’ nominee I am not for Kinnear, who won the final of the 100 Club Wildcard section (for participants given a special nomination by the elite few posters who had more than 100 pages of chat history when they applied for the competition) as he defeated our community’s Top 5 Career Hall of Fame analyst TopMarx 63-52.
Gameweek 32
Many of the 16 head to head encounters went all the way to Monday night in an exciting week with lots of twists and turns.
Pirlo’s Pen wasn’t left to sweat too much as he top scored out of everyone in his 90-72 victory over Leaf, but Hooky was certainly biting his nails as his 13 point lead over Smurf, with just Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha left as a differential for Smurf almost resulted in an amazing comeback, with Hooky eventually clinging on to a 85-83 win.
The other players who won their matches with scores in the 80s were VS10_, Dingo, I am not for Kinnear, and defending champion Feed Feo, who continued his methodical progress towards defending his crown by beating Fred51 85-66.
