Dugout Discussion

Tuesday Dugout Discussion

With the rest of the footballing world tuning in to the occasion at the Nou Camp tonight, the Dugout Discussion opens with it’s eyes firmly fixed on the remaining fixture from double Gameweek 35. It’s not glamorous, it’s Aston Villa versus Bolton Wanderers in a relegation scrap. The team news is in…

Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Cuellar, Baker, Lichaj, Albrighton, Herd, Warnock, N’Zogbia, Heskey, Weimann.

Bolton XI: Bogdan, Steinsson, Wheater, Ream, Ricketts, Ryo, Reo-Coker, M Davies, Petrov, Eagles, Ngog.

Gabriel Agbonlahor misses out due to injury for Alex McCleish’s side, whilst David Ngog is recalled in place of Kevin Davies for the struggling visitors.

The Dugout Discussion is open and can be accessed right here, with Champions League chat still permitted.

Is this worth it by any chance
Wheater to Terry and sess to osman for a 8pt hit?

Whether they did qualify the UCL final or not, one way or the other, Chelsea will definitely put their strongest this weekend in a bid to save their Champions League spot. They can't just depend on the final.

I would keep both Suarez and Cahill for the time being. May rack something out of that DGW, and then decide what to do with them based on forms and fixtures. Apart from that, nothing really and any hits would be unnecessary.

        A) Friedel,Nani, Ferguson,
        or
        B) Cech, HBA, Moses(Play in 37,38 instead of HBA)

Still buzzing from last night! What a game, what a performance!

I said over the two games what will be, will be-but as soon as Messi missed that pen, you had to think that something special was happening.

Gutted that Ramires (slapped him in my CL FF team as well-ha!) and Ivanovic will miss the final.

    Doesn't get much better!

Going to be a good day.

Twas a great game and result. Not a Chelsea fan but loved seeing them win (and to temper that seeing Terry sent off was funny). Cant stand the god like status given to Barca by some. Sure Chelsea rode their luck at time but they stuck the ball in the net more times tan the opposition and that usually wins you games!

whats the verdict on this team for (-8)

    vorm
    vem, simpson, kelly
    vdv, bale, dempsey, siggy
    rvp, cisse, jelly

    bench: mig, enrique, valencia, evans

bale could be pienaar instead and kelly and enrique could be swapped. look good as is or are there any changes i should make?

Personally, I'd probably wouldn't have both VDV and Bale just because they have DGW. Tend to like diversify a bit like, say, Pienaar as you suggested. And I'm getting tired of RVP, even though his fixtures ahead look decent.

        a) Wheater/Caulker->Terry for a 4pt hit

    CECH
    WALKER / HIBBERT / Caulker
VDV (vc) / BALE / DEMPSEY / Siggy
    CISSE / JELAVIC (c) / Aguero

    Mignolet / Sess / Vermaelen / Evans

£7.5m left in the bank for GW37&38 upgrades.

Seeing Sess (BOL) on the bench is wierd, but he's out of form and someone has to make way.

have rvp, aguero and papiss upfront. probably will do the same move, mclean -> pienaar and bench rvp.but it seems weird to see an expensive player like rvp sit on my bench

So chelski dgw.... Should be steering clear with fixture congestion, but now we find ourselves trying to work out if suspensions/injuries will allow us 2 games for either terry/Luiz.
Wouldn't want to responsible for the scouting the doubles article on this one.
Chelsea putting out full strength team in premier league to try and secure 4th might be less important when they have insurance of getting it via cl final.

Btw.... Is there any chance of a chelski game in 37/38 needing to be rearranged to accommodate the cl final?

Imo Terry will play both, He will def play 1st game as Ivan is suspended, and luiz a doubt. With Cahill out i think he will play v newc aswell, unless RDM plays Cole, Ivan Luiz boswinga which i cant see to be honest

You would expect that even at 6 points clear that SAF will want that extra point to make it 100% safe before rotating Rooney. + Utd are at home to Swansea and can have trophy lifted in front of Old Trafford faithful meaning Rooney would want to start.
I think he is safe for Swansea game.
Same applies to a few City players as well. Not sure I see Tevez starting in 37 if Utd do the business at Ethiad.

    how does

    dempsey/bale/pienaar/sigg (valencia)
    cisse/rooney/jelavic

    Verdict on this team (-8)

    Bogdan
    BAE, Caulker, Huth
    Bale, Cabaye, Siggy, Petrov, Mata
    Jelavic, Suarez

    Bench: Mig, Rooney, Evans, Shotton

I may do Simpson for Huth instead as well as HBA for Cabaye. I'd consider a 3-4-3 too, with Crouch/Defoe, forgoing a backline transfer.

Rival has Demps and Cisse, hence their absence.

    Thoughts?.

why would you not get dempsey and cisse jsut bcuz your rival has them?! They are 2 players who have very high potential at explosive returns. Rethink your tactic.

Whilst your rival may have them they still will score points, you could miss out. and mig over bogdan i reckon see no cs there. -8 is enough, no need for more hits

        Tactic re-thought (-8)

        Mig
        BAE, Caulker, Shotton
        Mata, Dempsey, Petrov, Bale,
        Jelavic, Suarez, Cisse

        Bench: Bogdan, Siggy, Evans, Wilkinson

I have no problem running with that but, can that team reduce the gap (35) on this one below?

        Bogdan
        BAE, Caulker, Turner
        Siggy, Dempsey, Valencia, Sess
        RVP, Rooney, Cisse

        Bench: Mig, Walcott, Evans, Kompany

(I expect his next 2 logical transfers to be Walcott and Sess this week)
