Continuing our members articles which examine the numbers behind the previous four Gameweeks, we now switch our attention to the midfield area. With a packed festive programme providing hat-tricks for Santi Cazorla, Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott, it was a period which again saw the heavy-hitting midfielder come to the fore. Incredibly, however, that trio were surpassed by the performances of a player who has rolled back the years to recapture a level of returns and consistency that we perhaps thought were behind him.
Where does Podolski come from. I would prefer Fellaini for both weeks + 4 points as opposed to Hazard.
Dzeko to Tevez too sideways for a hit. Why not keep him? Cheaper and a interesting differential.
Bale to Walcott for a free then for GW23?Open ControlsI was thinking Pod for the DGW ... but you're right, I'm probably over-thinking it.
Open Controls
Iv got 2 FT's for the first time and i dont know what i should do!!!

I am planning on using my WC after the DGW.

What do you guys think?Open ControlsI've lost my password could someone copy and paste this content into an email at freshman.tutors@hotmail.com please.
Many Thanks!Open ControlsAny love for Suarez to Torres(c) instead of Ba on here.
Would welcome views as iv'e only got to catch another 171 folk 🙂Open ControlsCould be a masterstroke if he gets the carrot of SOT and Ba gets Stoke.
Open Controlsthank you, had him for GW1 and the knee jerk punts last season, when will i ever learn!.
Open Controls
We spent nearly the whole day at work discussing this very thing. The board-room was split.
Some argued that Ba might not be ready to play the Chelsea way, and might not play both games. I was in the Ba camp though and felt that he must start both games and out-score Torres. We all felt that Chelsea would concede goals though so more worthwhile having Chelsea attacking .playersOpen Controls- Open Controls
A quick one for you....
a.) Sagna and Luiz or
b.) Gibbs and Azp
Heard doubts over game time for both Sagna and Azp, but would welcome your thoughts.......?
TaOpen ControlsA) Baines and Puncheon
B) Shaw and Michu
Thanks 🙂Open Controlsb fo' sure

so my 8 point hit would give me:=
Federici
Zabaleta Bassong O'Brien
Pienaar Michu Walcott Mata
Ba RVP Berbatov
Then -4 next week to bring in PODOLSKI & COLE for Berb&Morrison
Or just throw in a wild card and get Bale in as well.....Open ControlsObrien aint even certain is he?
Open ControlsI like it. Any plan for the WC clean up? Do you need it to clean up?
Open ControlsWildcard defo. Thats 12 points your chucking and Bale is a must.
Open Controls
So any news on injuries to these few:
Cuellar
Cech
Terry
ObrienOpen ControlsWhat odds Snodgrass outscores Michu over the next 7 GWs?
Open ControlsWouldn't fancy it.
Open Controls
Marveaux any good? Worth a punt?
Open ControlsBale or Suarez? Been on wc and cannot affort both ... 🙁
Open ControlsBale
Open Controls
I've not heard any news on Aguero but if it is 6 weeks do you take Dzeko or Tevez?!
Open ControlsWR I can see Berbatov on 61 transfers in and almost 3k from rising but I can't see that he is falling?
Open ControlsHe was almost at 100% earlier in the week
Open Controls
Does Azpilicueta ride the bench if Terry comes back?
Open Controlspossibly cahill
Open ControlsI think Cahill will
Open ControlsAzpili might be alright for a bit. Have a feeling Benitez likes him.
Open ControlsAzpi will be benched vs stoke i reckon.
Ivan cahill luiz cole for that oneOpen ControlsNah, Luiz is playing in front of the back 4

Good article on Defensive wildcarders earlier. Off the back of yesterday's article on goalkeepers, I have made the decision to stick with Begovic and Jaaskelainen as I am safe with them and don't want to risk losing the value gained.
However, in hindsight, I may keep Begovic and switch up Jaaskelainen for a cheaper alternative (Federici or Al Habsi), thus allowing Demel to come in as my West Ham defensive cover.
I feel that defensively, I should be looking to cover Stoke City, West Ham, Norwich City and QPR. I feel these teams will represent the best value over the latter part of the season as having relatively tough, defensively minded managers.
So I'm looking at Begovic, Demel, Bassong / Martin and a replacement for Nelsen.Open ControlsI've been risking early GW transfers all season and got bitten for the first time this GW!
I did Enrique -> O'Brien to avoid the fall/ catch the rise. The Chelsea DGW was announced the following day, serves me right I suppose. Just hoping O'Brien is OK for the DGW.
Nothing I can do about it now. I have only Torres & Puncheon as DGWers.
I could get Mata for a -4 but I'd have to ship Cazorla or Walcott. Don't want to do this as it's an extra transfer wasted getting the Arsenal player back in the following week.
So, here's my plan. It's risky.
Do without Mata this week. Go Torres -> Tevez for GW23 (City home to Fulham). I have 3 Arsenal & 2 WH, so I'm much better set up for the second DGW anyway.
WC after GW23....I hope all that makes sense and is a bit risky/ bit sensible? Thanks.Open ControlsYou have obviously thought about this a lot more than me RCA but I would wc now and worry about Ars next week
Open ControlsThanks guys.

First Post! Hows this for a WC team (gutted to drop RVP but playing catchup with others in mini league who have him)
Jussi - Turnbull
Gibbs - Cuellar - Clark (Villa) - Demel - B Davies
Walcott - Michu - Fellaini - Mata - Bale
Suarez - Ba - Ruiz
Also who to drop for GW22 from Fell/Michu/Walcott
CheersOpen ControlsWelcome aboard!
You'll have to waste a transfer on Turnbull later and it's always so hard to find a free one for a keeper.
Cuellar possibly injured, wait on news.
The big 5 in mid looks great.
You know the risks of going RVPless. God luck!Open ControlsCatch up those who have RVP by having better other players than him, instead of not having him at all.
Trying to win without RVP is like trying to win at golf without a driver in the bag.Open ControlsYou'll be wishing you've got RVP when Suarez goes on a bad run, Ba is on the bench and you're relying on Ruiz.
That midfield might help you but it won't make up for not having the Dutch lad
Defence looks a bit cheapy - can you not get a biggy alongside GibbsOpen Controls
Rate my team please and any changes I should make. Still have both wildcards
.also who should I branch this week
TunballBego,
Luiz,Gibbs,Demel,Nelsen,Morison
Noble,michu,Walcott,Fellaini,mata
Defoe,Suarez,RVP
Also I have 0.6m in the bankOpen ControlsCaptain Mata. save transfer. Bench Noble.
Open Controls
Anyone else on here on their wildcard riding the Ba price rises and swapping for Lambert Saturday morning?
Open ControlsAnother reason to ditch Michu on WC - Danny Graham's form might convince Laudrup to use him in behind Graham rather than as main striker
Open Controlswho to bench this week???
MATA, HAZARD, Walcott, Fellaini, PUNCHEON
rvp, Defoe, Lambert
what do you think peeps???
has to be wally doen't it???Open ControlsWC side:
Szczezny Turnbull
O'Brien Cameron Sagna Clyne Luiz
Mata Walcott Michu Fellaini Puncheon
RVP Lambert Berbatov
Waiting on injury news for a couple, and 2m in the bank for post DGW upgrades.
Job done?Open ControlsHello peeps...just a quickie
Naughton & Ivan
Or
Cameron & Aspil?Open ControlsI've got the following set-up for this week:
Begovic (or Jaaskelainen, if Cuellar plays, to spread the risk)
Baines, Mertesacker, Cuellar (or Demel, depending on Cuellar injury news)
Mata, Walcott, Michu, Puncheon
van Persie, Suarez, Berbatov
Jaaskelainen, Demel, Sterling, Nelsen
1FT, 1.3m in the bank.
My plan would be:
Per Mertesacker --> David Luiz this week
Next week:
David Luiz --> Kieran Gibbs
Raheem Sterling --> Kevin Nolan
Then wildcard the following week. Thoughts?Open ControlsThanks, I could also do Cuellar --> Azpilicueta this week, but I don't think he'll start both games or get as many points as Luiz will, and I want an excuse to get rid of Mertesacker.
The weak points in my team are certainly Baines (value-wise), Mertesacker, Sterling and, now, Nelsen.Open ControlsBaines will be priceless by the end of this month 🙂
Open Controls
Looks fine to me. Luiz could be worth keeping tho at least till WC. Can you not do Cuells to Gibbs. Wouldn't be too bothered bout Nolan for the DGW
Open ControlsI don't think I'll have enough money to do that, but I'll have a look next week. Either way it would just be for the one week so could even avoid the four point hit on Nolan.
Only taken one hit this season though so I think I'm due a hit to spice things up sooner or later.Open Controls
How does this look for season
Jaaskerlainen. Gazzaniga
Walker Luiz. Gibbs. Demel. Harte
Bale. Mata. Walcott. Fellaini. Michu.
Rvp. Ba. Lambert
Gonna swap walker for. Zabaletta. Following weekOpen ControlsGazzaniga isnt playing so you have no GK safety net. Boruc is in goal for Saints at the mo.
Open Controls
Messed that up big time - should be:
Ivan & Harte
Or
Liz & Naughton
Or
Aspil & Cameron
Sorry! 🙂Open ControlsStill A&C
Open Controls
Wildcard Active this is my best shot !
This DGW (6 players)
Turnbull (Szezney Next DGW 23)
Baines Cole A Shaw (Demel + Sagna (Next DGW 23)
Mata Puncheon Bale Santi Cazorla + (next DGW) Noble (Next DGW 23)
Van Persie Berbatov Lambert
[Change Mata to Walcott on DGW 23] for no hits & 6DGW Players againOpen Controlsi cant help but think you got the wrong double gameweek players
like santi instead of theo
and noble instead of nolanOpen ControlsWill have theo as well as santi
Open Controls
Pretty good as long as you'll be happy with your side once the DGWs have finished.
Open ControlsProbably an 8 point hit on GW24, but I hope that the 2 DGW's account for that.
Open ControlsBut you're then eating into your profit - better to enter the DGWs with players you're happy with? THis might be at the expense of maxing the 6 for each one, when there's no guarantee such a heavy investment will pay off (eg Saints and West Ham)
Open ControlsThought of that, and I know where you are coming from , but wildcard is active and I want points now. To be fair Demel and Shaw are pretty useless but I tend to have two crap defenders. The nucleus of baines, bale, santi, VP, cole, mata/walcott, berbs and sagna will always be thereabouts.
Open Controls
quick question before bed drop suarez Yay or Nay and get back in Gw26????
Open ControlsWould enable me to move puncheon to walcott and suarez to lambert, then Ba to pod next week and wait a week then with 2 ft get rid of pod and lambert for pogre and suarez and play 3-5-2, mid would be template
Open ControlsSuarez does have tough fixtures coming up. What with that and Studge joining up I've sold him. I still think there's an inaccurate player lurking under his good form.
Open ControlsI have never been a fan of suarez he could easily do nothing again for next couple of weeks, its a hard decision to make. who did u bring in for him and do u plan on getting him back in?

I'm pulling my hair out with my WC .... thoughts on this: (team value just over 104m)
GW22
Bego (Bunn)
Gibbs-Davies-Bassong (Harte)(Demel)
Bale-Hazard-Mata-Michu (Nolan)
Lambert-RvP-Dzeko
4-4-3
GW23
Bale -> Walcott
Hazard -> Fellaini
Dzeko -> Tevez
-8 transfer points
Bego (Bunn)
Gibbs-Bassong-Demel (Davies)(Hart)
Nolan-Fellaini-Walcott-Mata-Michu
RvP-Podolski (Lambert)
GW24
will have 2.0 in the bank
and lots of options to upgrade back to Bale (and possibly swap in Tevez for Podolski, etc)
