FFS Cup

FFS Members Paddy Power Cup III – Entry Now Open

With Cup football all the rage and, quick on the heels of Wild Rover’s FFS Paddy Power Cup triumph, our second free cup tournament of the season, is now open for our members. With Fuzzy Dunlop and Kippax Kikkers already in the hall of fame for their victories in this tournament, we’re looking for our third winner, with the Quarter-Finalists of this cup also taking their place in the first ever FFS Shield where they will face the likes of FFS Cup finalists Wild Rover and MileHigh over the final four Gameweeks of the season.

Read on for details on the Members Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a member and a veteran of such tournaments, you can go straight here to make your entry. Members will need to log in first.

What is the Paddy Power Members Cup?
The Paddy Power Members Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game available to our members. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall FPL standings will progress.

Do I have to be a Member to take part?
Yes. This annual tournament is provided as part of our offering to members. Obviously it’s not too late to register as a member or upgrade your account. Details on how this is done is available right here.

How do I enter?
Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

What do I do if I run into a problem with my entry?
Please contact support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk and we will look into any issues with your entry. Please note, we can only do this prior to the Qualifying Round. If you make an error when submitting your team id on the entry form, you may be withdrawn from the tournament so please take care when completing the form.

When does it start?
The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 25 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before 9am on Monday February 4 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 512 qualifiers for the first round: the 512 with the top scores in Gameweek 25 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 26. Again, FPL rank will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Wednesday February 6.

What is the Gameweek Schedule
Each round of the Members Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 25
  • Round 1 – 512 teams – Gameweek 26
  • Round 2 – 256 teams – Gameweek 27
  • Round 3 – 128 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Round 4 – 64 teams – Gameweek 29
  • Round 5 – 32 teams – Gameweek 30
  • Round 6 – 16 teams – Gameweek 31
  • Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 32
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 33
  • The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 34

When are the fixtures released?
The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline – the draw for the First Round will be expected on Thursday February 7.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s earlier Paddy Power Cup. The shield tournament will start in Gameweek 35.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Ok, it seems my WC choice boils down to this:

    A) Azpilicueta, Fellaini, Suarez, Dzeko
    B) Clyne, Bale, Sturridge, Aguero

mind you, I would still have Baines and Zabaleta in both teams...

Cheers for your never ending input... 🙂

When it comes to Tennis, the quality of these 4 and stature is such that i just can't happen to hate any of them. So i am supporting Djokovic, but i still won't feel bad if Murray wins it because there is such tremendous skill and respect and i actually don't mind the other winning it.

So basically, can't really hate any of them. Anyone feel the same way?

Fed was coming into the game off the back of a 5 setter against tsonga too. Fed is still a better play on grass and clay.

I want to know your which you feel are the best for probably 4 - 5 gameweeks?
    PS: money is real tight.

Stoke: Wilson / Cameron / Wilkinson?
Norwich: Whittaker / Martin / Turner?
    5th midfielder under £4.5?

Any comments will be much appreciated.

They didn’t renew Drogba’s contract to make him No.1 Striker.
    They bought Hazard,Mata,Oscar for him.
    They changed coach too.

    Still Chelsea’s fault?

      1) Drogba wanted to leave
      2) Mata was on the team last year, Oscar is terrible.
      3) Benitez doens't make Torres better (despite what some people believe)

Yep, still Chelsea's fault. Can't keep a manager, mark my words Benitez is gone after this season.

Plus, they bought Torres for 50m, only to play 2nd fiddle to Drogba. That's gotta put a dent in anyone's confidence.. Why pay 50m for a 2nd string striker?

Oscar's shit. Can't defend for his life, if someone goes around him he stops. Liability for his team.

Creative player, yes. But he'll need a couple years to be a complete player, which I doubt he will become.

Really? I don't think he's the 'complete' player (a rare thing if it exists at all) but he's hardly what you describe him as because of his defensive capabilities. He's 21 and he's the starting No 10 for Brazil. They don't give that number to just anyone!

As a spurs fan i find avb likes to move his defence round depending on the opponent, against a stoke for example caulker and Dawson will play to counter the aerial threats with vert at left back.
However against a pacier team like arsenal or Chelsea Dawson will be dropped for naughton (or bae now he's fit) with vert going central. Also have kaboul coming back who was the main man last year so all adds up to keeping away from dawson........cue the 13pt haul vs Norwich!

Dont know, currently got Suarez in (for 9.8) and am loathe to drop him for Aguero. If Ag does well, doubt I'll be able to get him back in. Due to expense Studge and Gerrard may be way forward.

Regarding Torres, he was on his way downhill in the latter stages of his Liverpool career. You could tell he'd lost a yard of pace once he'd come back from his lengthy injury.

Yet a lot of people think it happened once he'd joined Chelsea. Looked to me like Liverpool knew exactly what they were doing - a shame they did the total opposite with what they spent the cash on!

Bang on - his only good performances that season were v Wolves and v Chelsea (playing for a move imo!).

That said, Torres is, imo, a natural finisher, a team that can play specifically to his strengths will still get the best out of him. Problem for Torres is he'd spent his career in club football being in the best 1/2 players in the team so, of course they'd build the team around him (Spanish Int'l team being the exception but, tbh, I think I could be a golden boot winner in that team!) - He came to Chelsea and he wasn't even in their top 5 best players so of course they weren't going to build the team around him. I think he's a great player in the wrong team (and I'm a Chelsea fan btw!).

(I'd also point out this argument presents a counter-argument to anyone who thinks Lampard is only good because of the players he had around him, but that's a different discussion!)

Really struggling here. Feel like this is a very important decision:

    Pod and Luiz out for:
A aguero and Dawson (or other 4.5 def)
B fletcher and baines or zaba

I am a bit hesitant when it comes to Aguero... Don't know why... Guess I would like to see him hit form before splashing the cash, but on the other hand I would love to be on the train from the get go... It's tough mate... 🙂 Would still probably go for B) for now and reevaluate down the line...

REPOST as it was lost at the bottom of last page...

Ok, it seems my WC choice boils down to this:

    A) Azpilicueta, Fellaini, Suarez, Dzeko
    B) Clyne, Bale, Sturridge, Aguero

Hey Lawro what are your thoughts on our soon to be new signing Phillipe Coutinho? From what I've seen and also heard of him he looks to be a quality dribber keeping the ball very close to his feet which complements his extroardinary pace. However tbh I would of liked to sign someone a bit older with a bit more experience.

We're crying out for a bit of experience but I'm all for this transfer, Coutinho is a very tricky attacking player who will probably be used on the left of our attacking trio, Coutinho plays fairly narrowly which would also mean Enrique has freedom to roam down the wing, Coutinho is a flair player with great dribbling abilities and I'm sure every defence in the league will be worrying about how they are going to handle Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez, I wouldn't be surprised if we used him in a No 10 role as well as Rodgers has hinted at the need for this type of player, exciting times!

Yea exactly the type of player Rodgers likes as he is versatile by being able to play anywhere in our front 3. Hopefully he is able to adapt well into the English game. Any chance he could make the bench for the arsenal game midweek if his signature is confirmed by Monday?

No, his work permit will take a few days to go through, I think he'll be a good player for us initially but he won't be a FPL player yet, he's a selfish player like the rest of our forwards but I'm sure Rodgers will make him pass, I hope we get Ince, him and Sterling would be good bench options as we can switch to a bit of width towards the tail end of games 🙂

Yea true probably get his start against wba at home on the 10th. Intriguing to see how Sturridge, Suarez and Coutinho play together considering their own unique set of abilities and skillsets. Ince has done well hasnt he, Blackpool want us to up our 6m bid from what I've read, however we have shown no sign of doing so. Looks unlikely that will sign him up by the end of the month, but if we are willing to pay their asking price or Ince refuses to play for them forcing them to sell him haha, it could very much happen.
