Proceedings took another dramatic twist at the top of the Sky Sports rankings, as Fantasy Football Scout’s contender took a tumble in his battle for the overall prize. We take a look at the landscape going into the final day, whilst assessing how the transfer market is shaping up before popping in to check on tonight’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club.
The Scout League
Chris Pearce’s campaign for the overall Sky Sports prize took a huge blow in the week as a three point gap widened to a full 30 points following Tuesday’s clashes. With Santi Cazorla contributing a mammoth 19 points, we can only presume that leader Simon Ward had the Spaniard in his lineup, perhaps even as captain, for Arsenal’s 4-1 demolition of Wigan. That leaves Chris with the Scout League firmly in his grasp but facing a “do or die” final Gameweek in which he surely has to take a punt with his armband choice and hope for the best.
Chris leads the Scout League by 46 points ahead of Paul McAnulty’s “Housewives Favourite” lineup, while Pascal Evans’ “Covport” remains in third spot. Those three are included in the overall top five in the game, emphasising the level of competition in the Scout League this season.
Neil Fleeson’s “Roumeli Rangers” rank fourth in our league, ninth overall, while Terry O’Callaghan has lept back into our top five with his “Cosmic Raiders” squad – Terry sits in 13th overall.
Fantasy Football Scout lead the Private League rankings by 30 points going into the final weekend – a superb showing in our first season supporting the game.

Market Trends
With three goals in his last three matches, it’s Theo Walcott who has been the hot property this week. The Gunners’ flyer has been brought in as part of 8% of the trades made as Fantasy managers look to repair their midfields after recent injuries and suspensions. Interest in Gareth Bale also remains buoyant – like Walcott, he still has everything to play for on the final day and over 6% of transfers this week have seen the Welshman’s services acquired.
Both Philippe Coutinho and Marouane Fellaini are amongst the top five players brought in over the past seven days, as squads continue to shed the injured Steven Gerrard. The Liverpool skipper has made up almost 12% of the transfers out taking place. Strangely, folk are also still shedding Swansea’s Michu, with over 11% of transfers seeing the Spaniard sold on – having scored at Old Trafford and with a strong fixture against Fulham on Sunday, Michu has suddenly become a decent differential option for the final Gameweek.
Despite his hat-trick last time out and an obliging home fixture with QPR on Sunday, Daniel Sturridge has only been brought in as part of 6% of the transfers made this week, with Sky Sports managers perhaps settled on their forward lines and pressed to make changes in other positions. Bizarrely, then, with just over 3% ownership in the game, Sturridge will face QPR as a ready-made differential captain choice for those looking to bridge a gap.
The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 7pm
Dwight Yorke takes his place in the Fantasy Football Club forward line in tonight’s episode, while Champions Leauge winner, Paulo Sousa, will be stiffening up the midfield. Fenners and Merse kicked-off at 7pm tonight but, if you missed out on that, you can catch the re-run on Sky Sports two from 9.30 tomorrow morning.
