Paddy Power Exclusive – 5/1 on RVP to score vs Chelsea for New Accounts!

Stung by Robin Van Persie’s returns last weekend? Not to worry, Paddy Power have come up with the perfect way to curb the concerns ahead of Monday night’s clash with Chelsea. They’re offering Fantasy Football Scout visitors exclusive enhanced odds of 5/1 on an anytime goal from Van Persie for new Paddy Power accounts. Click here to get a piece of the action.

If you’re an existing customer, you can still take advantage of Paddy’s generosity – they’re offering a money back special on Van Persie for Monday’s game – if the United man notches anytime, they’ll refund any losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast singles on the match.

To be clear, bets on these enhanced odds are limited to a £10 stake and are open to new customers only.

A reminder that we posted Paddy’s clean sheet and goalscorer odds last night and, tomorrow morning, we’ll bring you some new markets based on this week’s Scout Picks.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to have a bet, always gamble responsibly.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Abramovich at it again:
The transfer was made possible after Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, whose fellow Russian oligarch Suleyman Kerimov owns Anzhi, intervened.

    I really dislike him.

I dislike Chelsea because of him. City have money too, but it just seems so much better and sanely run.

I don't support anyone in the premiership so I can say this impartially... I really dislike Chelsea and everything they stand for.

Buying up players and prospective talent so others cannot have them is bad for the game. Another good player destined to play a third of a season....

Yeah, look at City - they've spent their money and sacked their managers too in a much, well, classier way IMO.

Plus it's not incredibly easy to like a team with Terry and Cashley.

This deal just feels wrong....like scummy, I can't pinpoint why exactly.

I'm sure there are arguments against this point, but it feels like a piece of business in which money-might allowed one club to do a piece of business that would deliberately weaken an opposing team rather moreso than strenghen one's own

oh, sorry... It didn't even register to me that Liverpool had the same "claim" to Willian as Spurs did. He had a medical at Spurs... they out-bid 'Pool and then brought him to London for a medical, and somehow he ends up at chelsea.

yeah chelsea's was at a later stage (in fact i can't really remember a switch so late after a medical), but it's still outmuscling each other with money. Spurs did it to Liverpool without much sympathy, so I have little for them if Chelsea come in doing the same. It's modern football I guess!

you mean Dempsey? I don't know much of the specifics of either deal, but what seems different to me is:

          1. Spurs didn't have a handful of dempsey's already in their team (Dempsey was bought to improve spurs with VDV and Modric moving on... Chelsea have only added in the same position)

          2. Liverpool, from my understanding, dragged their feet and blew it moreso than being out-muscled by a money-no-object owner

Walcott and Sturridge just miss out.

Walcott- Away fixture and just coming off a mid-week game vs Fenerbahche, may be a bit fatigued.

Sturridge- Away fixture as well, could of course do well too, just that he would be my #6 pick this week. Simple as that.

Not saying either of these are bad captain choices, I just fancy the other 4 more..

Selling Zaha frees up money to buy Van Wolf but that only leaves 4.9m left.
Barkley is best value for that after GW1

Typical Anelka to ruin things!! Had a storming week 1 too

My plan is to sell Hazard next week so that will free up money to upgrade Mirallas or Barkley

Anelka has messed things up. To buy a striker to replace him, I need to sell Zaha which then leaves me with not much money left for a midfielder.

    potentially daft question.

how do people create make a profit when wildcarding? Am not WCing but just wondering.

I would think the only way to profit is to buy a player who will rise by 0.2 and then sell him to bank the 0.1 profit? However, the players that are rising a lot that week will probably be the ones you plan to keep and hence not sell them for a profit.

so in likelihood you can create 0.2 or 0.3m profit

    thoughts?

It's never been a get rich quick scheme, only a set of peculiar circumstances like some random cheap defender scores 2 goals and shoots up in price. Plus you need lots of other people wildcarding too to increase the number of transfers. Really, the best thing you can do is increase team value by bringing in risers early, then later on that could pay off when you want to sell them down the line.

You can't really make much profit in a week. I've wildcards a dim sitting at 100.6 mil. Currently the only player who I can sell at a profit is Barkley. In weeks to come those who want to sell zabeleta or benteke might find that they are selling him for 0.2 profit

Yep you've pretty much got it. But a lot of the time people do it over a 2 week international break, so you end up with a fair amount of players rising by 0.2-0.3 based on the last week, injuries, international form etc. Usually works out alright if that's how you want to play it.

Especially this time of year there are a lot of risers that the casuals chase that you would not want in your team, but they will rise sharply nevertheless. Also if you do it during an international break (like after GW3) you have a better chance of realising profit and then being able to spend it. But of course you should buy in any players who you want to keep AND who will rise in price--eventually that will be profit to you.

Yes, this is why a lot of people WC in the international break. Switch your whole squad for people that will rise twice, then switch back to a real team just before deadline. You can make a bit of cash that way...

I've got a bad feeling about this week.

My inherent sense of perpetual pessimism means that I always have a bad feeling about my fantasy prospects.

But, I've got a bad feeling about this week. Good for defenders, not so sure about anyone else. And in preparation, I feel like it will be slightly cathartic to say some of the things I would normally say on Twitter now:

"ugh, I knew (C) Soldado was a bad option - Benteke is on fire." followed by "RVP! F*ck, I really need him in my team" and "ha, now [player name] goes and gets sent off, typical".

    Good luck everyone.

I don't see Hull scoring. Not enough creativity there. Moreover Bassong will be back for Norwich. Could very well be the first 0-0 of the season.

In the long term you'll likely want to get rid of one of Haz/Oscar. I say go Silva, as it'll pay itself off in the next few games.

The sunderland defence only let Fulham have 1 shot on target, and that too was an individual error from a set piece. Lambert could be hauled off around 70 with Osvaldo waiting in the wings if he isn't playing well. Relies alot on set pieces/pens for his assists and goals too.

I would prefer just having him, and being a bit safer with the captain choice.

If Baines goes to ManU, will he be on penalties? Common sense indicates that a defender shouldn't be taking penalties at ManU. The statistics indicate that Baines would be the best choice though.

You'd need a crane to pull RVP away from penalties. I agree that Baines would be the best taker in the side though.

    What's not to like??

    Mignolet, Lewis

    Zabaleta, Coleman, Collins, Clyne, Chester

    Walcott, Michu, Mirallas, Koren, Kim

    RVP, Sturridge, Lambert.

Obviously Kim and Koren can rotate or else if necessary play 4 at the back. Michu to Silva for a few weeks?

the 2 teams im deciding on..which would your pick of the 2?

    A) *boruc
    zabaleta coleman shaw
    coutinho silva walcott barkley
    *rvp soldado *dzeko

    davis *cabral *collins chester

    coutinho/cabral could become Mirallas/snodgrass if i decided

    B) mignolet
    zabaleta coleman shaw
    coutinho silva walcott cole
    *aguero soldado *sturridge

    davis barkley chester *ward

barkley/cole rotate i think 🙂 im happy enough having cole over nolan looking at the stats from last game..worth the risk at that price

Puts me off him long term, but then i was already put off before as they had so many attacking options prior to Willian. He'll still be 1st choice and play alot of games, but there's the risk of random benching. I don't think it's a worry for a few GW's yet though, atleast until CL starts
