The ScoutCast – Episode 114 – Plunge

And so it goes on. With Granville bemoaning a “reasonable” 58-point Gameweek, I slip further into the mire as my team of differentials, mis-placed punts and failed opportunities continue on their relentless decline.

Slowly but surely the roles are being reversed in our weekly chat – as I recall my latest errant transfer and Granville struggles to curb his smugness: he even talks about himself in the third person.

As I desperately clutch at straws and roll out some positive thinking, my co-host halts his stream of advice to analyse the week’s rolling bandwagons and preview the weekend fixtures, whilst discussing the crunchy topics.

Join the counselling session via this link or stream the sorrow via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

It just feels like more a return to the good old days, like a cross between the self titled & tack off your pants and jacket albums. Seen them live, supported by Sugarcult Newcastle Arena December 2004, t'was a cracking gig. Also saw them in Manchester supported by another quality support, Fenix TX. Super duper stuff indeed 🙂 You seen them live?

the problem that i wanna hear peoples opinions on, is that of the expensive mids

the obvious suspects: ozil, silva, michu, havard, oscar, yaya

the differentials: cazorla, mata, lampard, gerrard

and the guys on their way back: walcott, coutinho....

maybe others for any of them, im pretty spaced out, if you can think of anyone

    my mid atm is:

    Ozil---Michu---Ramsey---Barkley---Brady

im begrudged to lose any of them, but i really want Haz and Silva

the ideal mid for me is:

Ozil - Silva - Hazard - Michu - Brady for the bench

realistically, you cant have all 4 of them and it'll be who you pick later on that really decides how your rank ends up, like when we play our january wildcard it will separate us all from the casuals. have faith amen

before then though, you can realistically have 2-3 of the top price mids, who's your priority?

maybe. just sick of him. I took him out last year, got at 6.5, sold at 6.9m thinking he would tail off but no! when I got him back hardly ever came up trumps. I agree with Granville on the podcast in that he's not worth 9m

Just my rank on who I think would have the best FPL returns, all else considered equal. As for my ideal midfield 5, I would take your pick of one Arsenal, one Chelsea, Silva or Michu, two rotating cheapos and call it a day.

unless you meant to, in which case thats just a bit strange or nothing i guess

after listing my midfield I just went with it and started listing players I had. I have to lose nasty to get bentekkers anyway so will be playing clyne, dawson, terry every week, I totally agree on the 3 defenders thing. If Dawson loses his place and Toure doesn't, simple switch.

It's all relative! like the friends quiz game! it is pretty cool when you swap a dear player n a cheaper one and reverse their positions, rotating the big hitters around! if it comes off then great. I haven't been an advocate for any Chelsea or City mids until now, but, with Chelsea scoring 14 in four matches, City in clear form and scoring, both with feasible fixt, the time is now. Not quite this week, a 0-0 is on the cards in that one, Mourinho style. Still, I had 2ft and was gonna go Moses to Hazard next week for sure, so did it this week and thought sod it haha.

I would ideally like Ozil, Silva, Oscar, Michu and Ramsey in the same midfield

But that is impossible with 3 good strikers and a decent defence, so I have to stick with 2 of the big guns, maybe 3 at a push. Currently just have Ozil and Michu

I'm probably getting Aguero, so can go without Silva, but I want Oscar as Chelsea strikers are no-go, but can't quite fit in Ozil, Michu and Oscar together

Basically what is better out of:
      A) Aguero, Ozil, cheapie
      B) Giroud, Ramsey, Silva

I prefer A, but B is more affordable

Hey guys, I did Migs>Boruc , Moses>Lallana for a hit because most guys in my mini league have Boruc and I don't think Migs would CS. But now Vidic might not start. Did I do the right thing?

    Boruc
    Terry - Vidic - Dawson
    Ozil - Ramsey - Michu - Lallana
    Suarez - Lukaku - Giroud

    Coleman, Brady, Chester

    2.4 in the bank.

Oh, the trade was also to free up cash to buy oscar, benteke or aguero next week. Advice or opinions please.

      Thinking about this team:

      Boruc,Harper
      Clyne,Johnson,Faye,Chico,4.0
      Ozil,Hazard,Silva,Brady,Morrison
      Benteke,Sturridge,Aguero

Downgrade Ozil and upgrade defence? Or does it look good enough? No cash left.

I don't know, Ozil is a bit of a season keeper man... I wouldn't go Hazard, too much rotation risk in Chelsea's midfield. Otherwise it looks pretty good. Maybe upgrade the defense a little?

Hm, Chelsea got some nice fixtures and Hazard looks like he has hit form..
Yeah, must try upgrading defence, but im no sure what to do. Really want Hazard,Silva,Aguero and Ozil, but must ditch one of them to get a better defence.

          if you just have 1ft and are trying to free up some funds;

i would recommend playing zaba and waiting till you have your 2ft next week to do your upgrade.

          who's your back up?

I already did Brayford to Clyne, and now Zab to Chico. So I got Clyne, Chico, Terry, Dawson (hope he plays) and Ward. Zab's returns were like 2,1,1,0... and now Chelsea, I could see a -1 logically coming! 😀

I don't trust the Liverpool defence since they went three at the back, and Migs seems to think he gets extra points for parrying shots back to strikers.

        I do trust Southampton's defence.

Boruc is 1m cheaper than Migs and is rising tonight.

        I could use that 1m.

        Got 2FT. Migs > Boruc?

Yeah he seems a better choice. I feel constrained by not wanting to spend a transfer on a goalie, but given I will lose the transfer if I don't spend it, it seems worth it, and I don't want to shuffle my midfielders under the fixtures turn next week.

Basically comes down to if I have any more pressing transfers than Migs > Boruc... surely I must.

Three really juicy fixtures though. Maybe OK to get Clyne for Coleman/Vidic in and use the other defenders to cover for the bad fixtures. Hmm.

Just a mad idea to save money on Migs. Seems to me Liverpool are failing to keep cleanies against the little teams, who knows what will happen against the big ones.

Yeah yet another example of 3 at the back failing in the Prem. Did call this when they switched to it. They join the illustrious likes of City, Pool last season, Wigan and Villa in becoming a clean sheet free zone with 3 at the back!

I think Migs is also a save heavy keeper but not a very common sense heavy keeper!

The way Southampton are defending I would happily play Boruc in the crap fixtures too. Chelsea and Arsenal is as bad as it gets in the league this year and I can see them conceding 1 or 2 max. If that's as bad as it gets, plus Boruc is a great keeper who pulls off lots of saves - I can live with that.

Boy it seems pretty quiet today.

I have Terry, Chico, Clyne, Dawson and Ward in my defense. I'm not sure who to bench other than Ward, but I'm leaning towards benching Terry since he plays City. Sure it's at Stamford Bridge but somehow I can't see Chelsea keeping City out. Although it seems like they managed to keep Man U out earlier in the season. Although Man U is not quite at the level of City right now... I just don't know. It seems like Chico, Clyne and for sure Dawson have much better chances of keeping a clean sheet. Thoughts? Any help would be appreciated... thanks!

I really rate Lallana. I think I'd have him over Ramsey, Barkley, Arnie, etc.

                        He isn't elite of course.

Then again, there's only one elite mid so far. Özil.

Vidic is Inj, but you can't see him coming on as a sub, cryptic moyes won't give it away so Dawson Coleman Vidic, nice sub to have tho

I have no idea who to captain, I don't know why Ozil feels so risky 🙁
Other options are Benteke, Suarez or RVP...

I didn't have any obvious choice either so I went with Ozil. Suarez would be good too. Benteke I'm not so sure...

Biggest shot trolls in the game - always shooting but almost never score.

        Luiz
        Glen Johnson
        Taarabt
        Kolarov
        Townsend

There's a reason they are not strikers. I remember Suarez trolling everyone with awesome underlying stats but no conversion, but he has the finishing greatness that so many don't. Some guys like the ones here are just destined to be explosion imminent but not actually explosive. Wonder if Paulinho is same.

townsend does have a good shot on him though, going back to his qpr 3 goals they were all good strikes
