The Weekend Team News

Everton’s defensive problems continue as Seamus Coleman and Sylvain Distin remain on the sidelines for the visit of Villa. Arsene Wenger rules Jack Wilshere out Sunday’s clash with Palace. Papiss Cisse and Yoan Gouffran are both still doubts for Newcastle, whilst Loic Remy loses his red card appeal. Rickie Lambert looks set to return for Southampton, though Gabby Agbonlahor is still a concern for Villa:

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jack Wilshere will miss the visit of Crystal Palace this weekend with an ongoing ankle injury, though hopes the England international will be available against Liverpool the week after. Wenger also conceded Aaron Ramsey will remain sidelined for four-to-six weeks after a thigh injury setback. Mathieu Flamini is suspended after his red card against Southampton, though Tomas Rosicky will return to the squad following surgery on his nose.

Everton’s defensive issues don’t look like abating this week. Roberto Martinez confirmed tomorrow’s game with Villa will come too soon for both Sylvain Distin and Seamus Coleman, whilst Antolin Alcaraz looks set to be out “for a while” with muscle fatigue. Though Martinez does expect the pair to be available for the game against Tottenham next weekend. Elsewhere, the Everton boss has confirmed that new recruit Lacina Traore is still 10-14 days away from recovering from a hamstring problem.

Paul Lambert has confirmed that Gabby Agbonlahor remains “touch and go” for the trip to Goodison Park, after a foot injury ruled him out of the Midlands derby in midweek. The forward will be assessed again but his manager has admitted the Toffees showdown may well be too soon.

Rickie Lambert has returned to full training ahead of Southampton’s trip to Fulham. Additionally, Mauricio Pochettino could be set to hand fit-again Victor Wanyama his first start since Gameweek 14 after he returned to the Saints squad in midweek.

Cardiff’s Mark Hudson looks likely to miss out with the hamstring problem that forced him off against United in midweek. Earlier this morning, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also confirmed Jordan Mutch and Kevin Theophile-Catherine are both in contention to return for tomorrow’s home game against Norwich.

Alan Pardew will assess the fitness of attackers Yoan Gouffran and Papiss Cisse ahead of the Tyne-Wear derby. The pair missed the stalemate with Norwich in midweek through injury and remain doubtful for the weekend. New signing Luuk de Jong is available after completing his move this week, however the forward is unlikely to be handed a start against Sunderland.

Meanwhile, the Football Association have dismissed Newcastle’s appeal against the red card handed to Loic Remy in midweek. The striker will now serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect. There was good news for Norwich, though, with the FA rescinding Bradley Johnson’s red card for his part in the Remy clash last Tuesday evening.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

Who needs to be sent packing most urgently?

    A) Coleman (sell price £6.2, short term injury, also have Baines)
    B) Bardsley (sell price £4.5, only 4 points in last 5 gameweeks, awful fixtures ahead)
    C) Januzaj (sell price £5.2, questionable game time)
    D) Chester (sell price £3.9, long term injury)

If Bardsley is fit, I'd focus on Chester. He's just taking up space for the next 4-8 weeks.

    Marshall (Mannone)
    Koscielny Ivanovic Evans (Vlaar, Gabbison)
Hazard Cazorla (C) Mata Johnson Noone
    Sturridge Bony (Aguero)

I'm thinking no transfers so I have 2 free for next week. Am i right with the C choice?

Crystal Palace's José Campaña has appeared on the German Football League's incoming / outgoing transfer list.

    http://www.bundesliga.de/media/native/transferliste/69-13-14.pdf

This doesn't mean that he'll definitely move (he's been linked with half the clubs in La Liga all winter), but he could well join 1.FC Nuremberg today.

    Repost

    http://talksport.com/football/man-city-shock-swap-move-west-ham-star-14013178006

"Manchester City are plotting a deadline day swoop for Ravel Morrison.

The former Manchester United youngster left Old Trafford for Upton Park in January 2012, and has been one of the shining lights in a disappointing season so far for the east Londoners.

But there have been rumours of unrest between him and manager Sam Allardyce, and Fulham were keen to take him across London.

But City are now ready to lure him back to the north-west as part of a deal that would see Joleon Lescott move in the opposite direction."

Schneiderlin would be great for them, but may be unlikely to get. Källström is actually not bad at all. They need another central midfielder in their Ramsey-Arteta-Flamini rotation, and better sooner than later seen that Ramsey is injured and Flamini suspended. Källström is technical player who can also defend. Used to play higher up the pitch when young but was gradually moved to a deep position.

Will likely go a similar way myself... just not with those 5. 😉

Could be an awful mess to sort out if managerial feelings change.

Agreed. Rooney or Mata for me, probably Mata due to price and non Champions League

Is it too much for Suarez? Would you not buy Suarez at this price if you didn't have him?

If RVP scores 50 points in three weeks, then that makes sense.

Highest scoring fantasy player for a few years running. He's got the pedigree. If United can rev up to chase 4th he'll be in the points for sure, no?

RVP has always been a very consistent captain option but not as explosive as Rooney. With Suarez being both explosive AND a consistent captain option, there's no need to pay the extra.

Berbatov to Monaco (he's flying out for a medical today) would be the most fitting transfer ever.

He could just step out of the casino onto the pitch, still wearing a tuxedo. Or just not bother leaving the casino at all.

I am surprised he's leaving London. It's home for him, wife kids and all. I guess they offered him a much higher salary.
