Next week we’re looking to launch a new feature on Fantasy Football Scout, aimed at further increasing community interaction and adding a new dimension to the site’s content.
The new Submissions section will allow any registered user to post us an article for review, which can then be published in the Submissions section, or even promoted to the homepage listing.
In many ways, this is an extension of the Hot Topics feature in our HomeCrowd comments system. Since we introduced HomeCrowd, we’ve seen many posters supply some quality content, which has been of great interest to our readers. While we’ve been able to highlight these posts via the Hot Topics, we felt we needed another level to recognise some of the great content that can be produced by the community.
How the Submissions section develops is very much up to you to decide, as it will be your content that shapes it. You can send us articles on any subject surrounding Fantasy Football – player scout reports, tactical analysis, statistical breakdowns (members or non-members related), features on a particular topic or dilemma and, of course, information on any community tournaments you’re running, provided they’re free to enter. Our recent Drop the Flop article – as devised and written by Swanny14 – is an example of our willingness to take on, develop and promote new editorial ideas, so if you have any suggestions for future content, feel free to get involved.
Transfer news is another great source of content and we are particularly interested in hearing from fans of a Premier League club to provide expert analysis and match reports. Ultimately, our hopes are to have a community expert on board for each team in the top-flight in any given season – this could be your chance to be the community’s eyes and ears on the latest goings-on at your club.
There will also be a sideboard widget listing articles published and we will flag up the published submissions in our weekly community round-up as well as in our social media channels. As mentioned, we may even promote some articles to our homepage listing.
In the past we’ve always looked to recruit new writers from the community and both Paul and Jonty – staff members at Fantasy Football Scout – arrived via that route. We’d like to think that there are more new writers out there who will spring from the submissions section and evolve into contributors to help take the site forward in the coming years.
With the close season and the World Cup looming, this is a great opportunity to try out this new section and evolve and improve it as we go. If any of you fancy yourself as experts on a particular World Cup nation, have a list of players to watch or simply want to review your Fantasy season or focus on targets for the next, then keep your powder dry and look out for the launch of the Submissions section next week.
