Ahead of this evening’s Old Trafford encounter between United and Hull, we take a look at those players who picked up problems over the last few days and are now injury concerns for their next fixture. We also take a quick check at the suspension ins and outs, with a trio of players set to return for their respective sides:
Injuries
Arsenal
Aaron Ramsey failed to make the Gunners’ home clash against West Brom yesterday afternoon due to a minor thigh injury.
Aston Villa
Gabby Agbonlahor was forced off midway through the first period of Villa’s win over Hull after picking up a knock in the build-up to his side’s opener in the 3-1 victory.
Cardiff
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was deprived of trio Gary Medel, Mats Daehli and Kevin Theophile-Catherine due to illness, according to reports in the local press.
Crystal Palace
Cameron Jerome missed the Eagles’ six-goal thriller with Liverpool last night due to illness.
Fulham
Hugo Rodallega missed the weekend hammering at Stoke due to illness, Felix Magath admitted post-match.
Hull
James Chester is ruled out of the Tigers’ trip to Old Trafford this evening after picking up a during Saturday’s defeat at Villa. Sone Aluko is also unavailable after sustaining an ankle injury during training on Friday, with Steve Bruce admitting he is set to ring the changes now that his side are safe from the drop.
Manchester City
In this afternoon’s lunchtime press conference, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that Sergio Aguero has failed to recover from the injury that forced him out of Saturday evening’s win at Goodison, though hasn’t ruled the Argentine out of the Gameweek 38 home clash against West Ham. The City boss allayed any fears over Yaya Toure’s fitness, however, after the midfielder was withdrawn midway through the second-half of the 3-2 win:
“Sergio Aguero couldn’t recover 100% from his groin problem so he is not in this squad list. Maybe he has a chance to be fit for Sunday. We will see in the week. I was not 100% sure if he was fit for tomorrow – that’s why he is not in the squad…Yaya did not have any problems in the last game. I just made the change because he was just coming back from his injury and he was not able to play 90 minutes.”
Man United
Ryan Giggs has conceded Wayne Rooney is struggling to make United’s home encounter with Hull this evening and will continue to be monitored. Rafael may play a part in the Red Devils’ final two matches after a recent injury, though Jonny Evans is unlikely to play again this term.
Swansea
Reports in the local press indicate Chico Flores missed the home encounter with Southampton due to a minor toe problem.
West Brom
The Baggies forward Thievy was sidelined for yesterday’s match due to a groin problem. Billy Jones missed out as a precaution due to an ongoing hamstring issue.
Suspensions
Two players sit on the sidelines due to bans this week. Tottenham’s Younes Kaboul will miss next Sunday’s home encounter with Villa after being sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity during the weekend loss at West Ham. The centre-half will serve a one-match suspension, whilst Chelsea’s Ramires sits out the third of a four-match ban away to relegated Cardiff this weekend.
In terms of those returning from bans, Jordan Henderson, Juan Cala and Ryan Shawcross are all available for selection once again this weekend.
