Versus – Low to Mid-Price Midfielders

With the season now just a fortnight away, we turn our attentions to a number of kindly priced midfielders in our latest article for members. Picking the right combinations in the mid-price bracket looks crucial to a strong start and with Fantasy managers debating the merits of a number of targets, we scour the statistics to assess their previous form.

For the purpose of this article, we’ve selected seven midfielders, no more than 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, who have proven popular picks so far and/or are set for some favourable opening fixtures – potentially affording them the chance to hand us an early-season bandwagon. Comparing their respective statistics, we also dig deeper into seasons gone by in our attempt to ascertain the best options for our initial lineups.

What are your thoughts on this team lads? Getting Henderson and Bojan instead of Albrighton and Dzeko allowed me to have a much improved defence.

  Great team! Basically the same as mine but I went for Sanchez and Fab in midfield instead of Ramsey and Haz and then had 0.5m less in the defence. Apart from that its spot on 😉

Whoa, just for kicks I checked Ashley Young's price, 5.5m! I am not saying it's a steal, but I would have expected at least 6m. Would certainly be one to monitor. Could be a player to have a renaissance under a new manager. Although if he's playing wingback in a 3-5-2, isn't he kind of POO?

    I think by time season starts he could be in quite a few teams.
    The casuals will probably like him more than the scouts, but at his price i see
    Very little downside, especially with those fixtures.
    Worse comes to worse can just swap him out for whatever cheapie is rising in price

      A team that plays wing backs needs them to cover defensively or they are very susceptible to diagonal balls out wide or balls over the top, especially if the opponents have good wingers.
