The ScoutCast – Episode 134 – Starter

Gently does it. Granville and I ease ourselves into the season with another thirty-minute bite-size podcast, gradually building up our fitness before we go full tilt next month.

Yes, it’s just the pair of us again, cuddling up in our intimate studio to discuss the events of Gameweek one, whilst casting one eye on the fixtures and events to come this weekend.

We get through the usual array of regulars, with Granville explaining how a wedding and a bout of childcare threatened to ruin his campaign, just as it gets out of the blocks. We reach out to all those Siggy benchers, whilst picking the bones out United’s limp corpse following their opening day defeat. We then chat Fabregas vs Hazard, Ivanovic vs the rest (they’re going to run and run) and sing Ultimate’s praises for helping the previously unloved play their part in our Fantasy seasons.

Pick at the buffet via this link, or dash straight to the main course via the handy player below….

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Mata -> Schurrle
    Costa -> Aguero

9 goals in 1462 minutes lasts season is actually very decent. Especially when you consider he's been played wide a lot. He gets so much unfair criticism. If he played as a striker for a club like Everton/Spurs/Stoke/Newcastle he'd get 15 league goals easily

Kuyt scored vital goals for us and he wasn't even deployed as a striker. Mostly played on the right. I see your point with Welbeck but I just think he's pretty rubbish.

Surely winning can't be everything to everyone. There's no way I could support a team with a 'character' like Luis Suarez no matter how many titles he brought them. Balotelli's not in the same class but there's a lot less talented players I'd rather have before being forced to settle for him.

Anyone know the best site for sortable FPL stats from last year? Looking for a cheap (4.0-4.5), nailed defender that isn't a complete waste of space. Dummet? Duff?

    Silva/Eriksen/Sterling/Fabregas/Sigurdsson
    Jovetic/Bojan/Diego Costa

it depends entirely on the team you have. if you have some of the few big players of the season you might e able to transfer in the missing players over a few gws and save it inutil the second half of the year. other years i'ved used it 4 gws in. I think unless you have all of the price droppers in your team you have to wait until the dust settles and you can start to see who's looking good. One or 2 gws isn't long enough

It is, but people are misguided. They expect loads of transfers and price rises as it's two weeks and a chance to get the new signings. In reality though, nobody does anything until the Internationals have finished, nobody rises more than .3, most .2 or less. The new signings are not tried yet and the whole thing becomes a damp squib with people wishing they had saved it.

Yeh it's one of the biggest urban myths there is, people say they made a load of value and over egg how much they actually got. I checked last time and most you could get was about 0.3 in total across your team. Also read somewhere that they had changed the way the prices go up this year which mean players will rise slower than last year.

Form is the shape, visual appearance, constitution or configuration of an object. In a wider sense, the form is the way something is or happens, the answer to "how?". When then considering the idea of global form, the sense of form reaches the one of Gestalt, as in Gestalt psychology.

Form may also refer to the following:

Form (document), a document (printed or electronic) with spaces in which to write or enter data
Form (education), a class, set or group of students
Form (exercise), a proper way of performing an exercise
Form (horse racing), a record of a racehorse's performance, or similarly for an athlete
Form (nest), a shallow depression or flattened nest of grass used by a hare
Form (religion), an academic term for prescriptions or norms on religious practice
Musical form, a generic type of composition or the structure of a particular piece

Our modern philosophical concept of 'form' probably originates from Plato's 'eidos', by which he identified the permanent reality that makes a thing what it is, in contrast to the particulars that are finite and subject to change.

It was Aristotle, however, who was the first to distinguish between matter ('hypokeimenon' or 'hyle') and form ('eidos' or 'morphe').

Immanuel Kant, of course, reckoned that form was a property of the mind i.e. that it is derived from experience, and is therefore imposed by the individual on the material object. This is why Kant's name has been used as a football terrace insult ever since.

Immanuel Kant was a real piss-ant who was very rarely stable,
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could drink you under the table,
David Hume could out-consume Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel,
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine who was twice as sloshed as Schlegel.

There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach yer 'bout the raising of the wrist,
        Socrates himself was permanently pissed.

John Stewart Mill, of his own free will, on half a pint of shandy was particularly ill,
Plato, they say, could stick it away, half a crate of whisky every day,
Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle, Hobbes was fond of his dram,
And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart: "I drink, therefore I am."

Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed -
A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he's pissed.
