As always, our Sunday members’ regular delves into the data of the matches played out so far. This time around, Arsenal’s attack, Swansea’s in-form frontman, the Hammers’ raiding left-back and Southampton’s new wide man are amongst our evening assessment.
Sahko potentially out for a month.
C. HuttonAye - Hutton's fixtures look tasty. Cheers.
Boring as it is, I'd be tempted to sort out the 5th mid and get someone who plays.
I have Downing as a 5th mid and it feels like a waste of money..
It is...
He's too expensive for a 5th mid
Not when Costa etc is/are such a problem.
What to do, Doos? 😥
I think that's swapping a short term disadvantage for a long term one
How, though? 0 ITB.
Good point
Save.
Cheers.

Am I blinkered by that goal or is RVP picking up some form?
All this talk of Sanchez and Hazard yet not one mention.Yes, he is, at last.
http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/939/
First time featured, this Season. With the goalfest which is the Manchester Derby up next.
Annoying.
At his price he needs to be producing a lot more.
Last night was the best he has played this season. He was making good movements and troubling our defence. Only if he was a little cheaper I would have got him
maybe
but as a fan of the sport... I'm starting to get really upset watching United players celebrate goals that tie games as if they are trophy winning goals
the mentality of the team troubles me, they're too grateful for small achievementsThat's a bit OTT.
It is EXACTLY correct. Delusional.
Hah. Just no. That will be a launchpad for the rest of the season.
There you go. Good luck. 😕
I did chuckle after watching their reactions to their win over West Ham. They celebrated like they've just won the UCL final and same last night
I think I'm going to get Oscar and captain him 😆
With the variety of potential captains this week (Hazard, Costa, Sanchez, Kun) surely Oscar will outscore at least one of them? 😆Oscar is such a hipster pick. I think you'd be better of with Fabregas.
He's so boring 🙁
Just get him back in.
🙁
Agreed
I have both.
He's not that bad....just not a safe one.
Keep an eye out for my Budget Alternatives article this week.
Great choice. Great fixtures. Got some form. Cheap. Differential. What's not to love?
Do you already have him?
If I already have Costa, Aguero, Pelle, Fabregas, Sanchez and Baines. Who do I get in this week?
Tadic.
Someone cheap.
Terry
Oscar
Mane or Barkley
All good options thanks for the suggestions. Now I'll need to find ways to get them in..
Any ideas for this lot?
Heaton (Gilks)
Baines/Clyne/Naylor (Wilson/Moore)
ADM/Hendo/Siggy/Fab (Boyd)
Costa/Kun/Pelle
2 FT
0.1 ITB
Have a few concerns such as GK (meh i know), Siggy (form/fixtures going down), Costa (injured), Hendo (rotation). Any bright ideas?
Thanks ladsIf Costa is not fit, I'd consider Hendo+Costa -> Sanchez+berahino (if that is affordable?)
cheers mate, is affordable, guess it all depends on Costa news
As a non costa owner, I'm only really scared if a lot of people captain him.
If Mourinho does his usual shoulder shrug, how likely are you owners to captain him?Very.
It really depends on news and whether there are any images of him training or not. Still so unsure.
Very high, there's no point Mou bringing him on for 30 - that would enable him to travel with Spain, either he'll play the full match or nothing IMO.
This is true, with spain on the horizon he might just leave him out and tell spain to eff off.
I will.
Its a good week to hold off on making a transfer till the end of the week. Cup games, press conferences and news on Costa are still to come. Its not a good time to knee-jerk.
May be, but decisiveness is often a factor. Or the lack of it. 😉
Costa is the key for me. If there is nothing substantial about him starting then I'm going to have to sell 🙁
I kneejerked because of exact cash. If Costa really looks nailed on to start I might do a midweek wildcard 😯
I am in the same boat. 🙂
What was your transfer?
*s
Ivanovic to Baines
Sterling to Sánchez
Welbeck to BerahinoI did Costa+Sig -> Sanchez(C) + Pelle
Please don't use any members' tables against me on this one.If you are close to being priced out of a move then I can understand the early transfer. I take it thats what the situation was?
In my case yes. Sanchez rise meant I would no longer have been able to do the move. Costa and maybe sig likely to fall which would extend this situation.
Agreed - just waiting/hoping for more Costa price drops.
Any ideas?
DDG
Bertrand Baines Wisdom (Chester, Duff)
ADM Sigurdsson Tadic Sterling
Aguero Lukaku Pelle
Thinking DDG + Sterling ----> Foster/4.6m + Hazard
Cheers 🙂Or an insane DDG---->Jakupovic which would allow for Sanchez...
Keep the hits to a maximum.
that's my job ! (until week 11)
Well, surely I've got to give you some hope before it starts?
I said maximum.
Keep sterling
Cheers 🙂
Sterling -> Eriksen - no hits
Do your Hazard plan, 1 hit
either works for me
Lukaku's lack of year-on-year improvement is troubling me as an Everton fan... hoping that Martinez can get him motivated and that it changes... he's too young to have peakedsuggest me 8.3 below midfielder?
oscar or eriksen or else?Oscar
eriksen all day
Mm....I liked the Eriksen pick, but not so much after their performance against Newcastle.
Hoping Barkley can get him started this season...for his price, there are better options if he continues like this. For the sake of my FPL team, I hope so too 🙂
Thoughts, Doosra?
I don't believe you people.
Alexis didn't even have th most goal attempts from the midfielders this week.
Jeeeezzzh...But he did have the most shots inside the box ... also on target ...

I'm more interested in next week's goal attempts than this week's 😀
Hello Burnley. Meet arsenal, flat track bullies with a point to prove. This is exactly the type of game they'd win 6-0You have to go back more than 2 years to find Arsenal scoring 6. They have a tendency to struggle to find shots against teams who park the bus. Burnly at the Emirates may park the bus.
Their bus didn't even pass its MOT
Whats more concerning I think is the player congestion at Arsenal. I can see a bit of rotation happening at some point and others competing for the goals/assists.
If Wenger starts resting Sanchez now then I'll need no more proof that he is not fit for the job
Not so much rest. More rotation. CL games could curtail his PL game time.
Same thing. No need to rotate a player who is the best in your team and in good form. We don't see Mourinho rotating Hazard or Fabregas even though he has better option to put in than Wenger has
Too early in the season to be rotating players in the league. Sanchez is a fit young player who should be playing 2-3 games a week easilyBut when there are so many top players competing for a starting spot its not such an unreasonable idea.
Yes but not a good idea to rotate a player on form specially a world class one. He should be played as often as possible as long he is producing. If he goes off the boil then that's the time to rotate.
Wenger should rather rotate others like Caz, Ox, Wilshere, Ramsey and keep Sanchez as the one player who is guaranteed a spotThats a fair argument actually and makes perfect sense. I think I'm swayed.
🙂
*politely claps* well played sir
Hmmm. I am pretty sure this is a way of convincing yourself not to buy him!
Certainly not. I'm prepared to buy him but just assessing things from all angles.
When Wenger has a favourite he plays through thick and thin, in my memory anyway. Especially when he is the only player in form.
Is he really his favourite? He wasn't not long ago. If everyone is fit I'm not sure who he can leave out. Certainly Sanchez will probably start most games but I'd stop short of calling him 'nailed on'
I agree. Trying to give Ramsey and Walcott game time and at the same time keeping eye on CL fixture next week.
Yeah, definitely keep adm... But Burnley at home screams goals
Shameless repost. What to do with this lot?
Foster (Mannone)
Baines Bertrand Chambers (Dummett Wisdom)
ADM Sterling Tadic Siggy (Boyd)

Foster Krul
Baines Clyne Chester Wisdom Hutton
Fabregas Sterling Eriksen Sigurdsson Marney

Chester TO Chambers?
Mids OK?Chester to Chambers looks good
Might want to get out of Sterling to protect team value but not sure where you'd go within that budget... and he'll be fine soon as Sturridge gets backWe have the same Defenders 😉
If I have money itb I'd do the same.
I notice the posts today are less panicky and mot talking about removing costa from their teams. I am feeling faurly relaxed about it as well, so far.
I have 0.7mil, 2 free transfers and have costa, sterling and nathan dyer in my team. Was thinking of just changing dyer for someone cheaper, and keep the extra transfer for a couple of weeks when i want to lose my southampton players...
Thoughts? And who is a good cheap midfielder.QPR is the big factor. If he had a tough match next week everyone would be selling.
He's the most sold player so far today, expecting that to continue and a price drop or two to occur.
Boyd or Obertan if it's your fifth mid.
Time to WC or hold on?
I think i need some changes...

No need to wildcard at all. 2FT will do you proud as it is.
Don't think you need to wildcard. Just get rid of two of Davies/Caulker and Lovren for Chambers/Bertrand/Kaboul.
So this report of Cost coming through Saturdays training session were obviously a crock, which paper was responsible for that? Is there any evidence he even trained on Saturday?
* trained Saturday " "
may have... training condition is not playing condition
Chelsea's official Twiiter Page posted a photo of him training
But it was of him training before the Arsenal game. Daily Mail posted the same picture on Oct 3.
Naughty naughty.
Jose Jose
One of the factors was that he had a virus which could be contagious so I would be surprised if he even went near his teammates
OK I am wrong 😀
How's Newcastle's defence looked recently?
better
(which is)
typicalThey still won't get any cleanies but yes they don't look like they'll concede too many now
Better now Williamson is benched
Rio injured? Got him on the bench coming in for Costa.
Just shit
What to do with Sigurdsson, Chadli and Downing (5th mid)..?
Siggy, Diame & Puncheon?
Hi guys. What would you do with this lot? Would really appreciate some feedback! Thanks!
Mannone - Krul

- Your Best FPL Player or Moment (so far...)
So, whose been your favourite fpl player or moment this year (so far) ?
I suspect a lot will say the Aguero 4 goals, but for me it was Tadics 20 pts in the same GW.
It was unexpected, even at half time he didn't get many points. 😀When Jovetic got his brace after everyone sold him, then bought him a week later 😀
Thanks Ryan, I fell for that trap 🙄
I had just forgotten about it too.... 😆
Either those two or Di Maria vs Leicester ( United fan )
captaining Pelle (or anyone) when the majority captain Costa and getting more points
This was a close second for me! 😀
Sakho for me.
Costa hat trick when I had him captain 🙂
Missed out on Aguero and Tadic's haulsPutting the armband on Sakho 2 weeks back. Didn't cause a massive jump in rank, but people said it was a stupid move etc, etc. Glad I paid no attention 😀
*3 gw's
Baines (c) a few weeks ago. Pen last few mins capped a really good week off.
Got to be the late pen by Baines a couple of weeks ago.
received an abusive text from a rival two mins before about my zero point captain...cue goal and 3 baps 😀Ha.lovely.
I actually enjoyed Dai Geas pen save v Baines, as Dai not given me many good moments since gw1That one I wasn't so happy with 😉
Chester's 15 points in GW1 and Jovetic's brace v Pool.
That's was a cracker.
What about the following week 😉 ?Jovetic's loss of form or Chester's red? 🙁
The latter !
Yeah that was frustrating. Still, 14 points from 2 games isn't bad 😉
Or selling Costa? 👿
I'm trying to think of a less boring example but it was definitely the aguero 4....
More specifically, when he scored the third penalty. Having missed the previous one, I was sh**ting myself at that moment!Aguero(c) 4 goals for me
Welbeck (c) gw 5 -24pts
when costa blanked and rooney only got 4-5ptsTadic and Pellè
That's two.
Get off the fence, those splinters must be killing your ars*Same week?
- and I had/have Clyne as well?
Last night game was something for me, from Ivanovic's almost scoring + cleanie to an instant red card + MU's scoring at injury time
all in, less than 5 mins!
In the end, -1 from Ivanovic!!!
WTF?!
Chester goal opening game week, Jovetic brace and Tadic 23 point monster haul.
Worst moment is Baines penalty miss.A moment - had to be chester's GW 1 haul 😀
But in general, the fact that after 2 GWs I was ranked 57th in the world has got to be my greatest triumph 😀Jovetic, Hazard (c) GW2, Kun, Tadic.
Boyd's 8 points off the bench when Costa didnt play last GW
nice one.
This 😀
This for me too. I never seem to get points off the bench so it was extra nice!!
(C)osta's hatty
Boyd first sub GW8, 8 lovely points 😉
Had a few good moments this season.
Baines, Tadic and Aguero (C) last GW having gone Baines and Bertrand in for Terry and PVA was a masterstroke and took me to a 3 figure OR.
Jovetic's brace against Liverpool was fantastic too, I was the only one with him in my ML, I actually sold him the next GW while half of my league rushed to bring him in (most capped against Stoke too) where he went on to do nothing at all..Wisdom getting an assist last GW and coming off my bench was gold too.
Best player - Pelle; had him from GW1 when everyone was asking 'who the heck is he!?' and informing me that Southampton would be rubbish this season. Now who's laughing!?
Best Moment - hitting fourth in the Scot league and getting my name read out on the Podcast 😀Bring in Sanchez for ADM this week. Risky but effective.
GW4 Jovetic & Jones to Pelle & Clyne.
Earned myself 19 points on that one, before either were super popular.Last GW's 125 points haul for me. Everything just came together! 😀
Bring in Di Maria after the Burnley game and captaining him
Other than the Aguero 4 goal captain its probably the Chester goal GW1, followed up by benching him most weeks since and missing the red card.
The first game of the season when siggy got that cheeky goal and assist
Tadic 23 points & Alexis 16 points =D
aguero's goal against villa. i was literally humping the back of the first thing i could find in front of me.
that was just 7 points though which sums up the season start for me, small highs, big lowsok not literally humping. a bit of a redknappian slip there
😆
Probably captain Sanchez this week 🙂
Captaining Baines last GW.
Pelle my favorite player for me. Got him before his brace against Newcastle and never looked back.
Captained Pelle for 30
Captain Costa, Aguero scores 4 goals, Costa doesnt play, Aguero has the (VC) armband...
pure bliss
I must remember to log off before I have a few drinks. I made 2 transfers and regretting them this morning.
Sterling + Welbeck > Sanchez + Etoo. Why did I put Etoo in?
I will have to cross all my fingers and toes now hoping he will start. He will
Thanks. I think I was trying to be different to getting berahino or Sahko.
I'm not so sure. I see Barkley starting again - who drops out?
Osman
Martinez automatically starts players who score goals in the next game
Dreadful transfers!!!
Joking of course - nothing wrong with bringing in men in form...
Innsie around?
Yep.
Scoredelario?
43 with Hutton to go.
Could do with an unbelievable goal + clean sheet from him!40 with Hutton.
Hopefully I can change the arrow from red to green. That's the most important thing.Yeah, I'm on a red myself. Been on a downward spiral the last 2 weeks so a green arrow would be nice. Down to 120k now, need a big comeback week soon!
Out of curiosity, who scored for you this week? I got saved by 3 clean sheets for my defense 🙂Yeah, pretty annoying, considering that we're way above the average score. Pray hard for one 😉
Nobody scored for me this week 80 Kun (c) fail, only 1 CS from Clyne, but some assists (Pelle, Baines Siggy Fab)* 😯
8 odd points would be lovely!
Same here - at least clean sheet is not at all unlikely
Yeah, quite happy with him coming in. All my defenders got a clean sheet and saved my ass this week - so hoping he can add to that.
Anyone looking at Bony in a couple of weeks of so time...?!
smart people are
Couple of ripe fixtures, I spotted last night. Could well be armband pick, too. Like him as a player, I must say. . .
Good form, bad fixtures. It's your call.
I see one bad fixture in the next six.
Up to 9.5K now. Good considering I have had either 6 of 7/9 captain fails... 🙁

Why is ivanovic showing as available for next week? Is he not suspended for at least 1 game week if not 3?
Check out the scout tweets!
Ah yes, silly me, thanks. Nice, so ivan in for the qpr game. Save me using my FT to switch to baines.
read scout tweets sometimes
suspension will be served for mid-week cup gameOn the game site, yeah? Hmmm, that's a strange one!
I made this mistake. Serves it during League Cup, midweek.
He will serve ban in midweek cup game
Suspended for the game midweek at Shrewsbury. He'll be fine for next pl game.
Only 1 and mid-week.
Why can't the FA grasp the fact that serving a ban in a Micky Mouse cup for an offence committed in the Prem is wrong. You should serve your ban in the competition you get it in. It's not rocket science. 😕

Indeed ! My jammy rival benefitting...!!
I was thinking that yesterday. Actually encourages players to try and get booked / sent off at the end of the game before it. Luckily this backfired on Chelsea yesterday 😆

Shawcross and Moreno to Baines and Chambers? If for free, yes.
- Doubling up on the Toffees defence
A case for doubling up on the Everton back-line
With Soton's excellent run of fixtures coming to an end in 3 weeks, the owners of Clyne and Bertrand will be looking for an alternative soon. A feasible outlet is an Everton double.
PROS
1. Next 11 games, has only City, Soton and Spurs as big threats. And with the spurs attack so unimpressing, Everton might be able to get a CS too.
2. Ownership
Clyne - 28.5%, Bertrand - 18.5
Baines - 21.6, Jag - 13.9, Coleman - 6.9
Although Baines has high ownership, its still quite a way short of Clyne. And Coleman is just an untapped resource. They will provide an excellent differential
3. This would be the biggest plus. As has been discussed before, Baines and Coleman are more likely to get attacking points than defensive. A CS is just a lucky +4. So that puts them on level with the mid-price midfielders, while they consistently earn Bonus points.
Baines has 5 in games without CS, and 6 in 2 with CS.
Jag - 4 and 2
Coleman - 1 and 0 (played only 5 games)
Very few similarly-priced midfielders can match these returns. Top 5 mids under 7.5mil have 7,5,4,4,8 bonus points respectively.
4. The impact of Clyne and Bertrand is slowing reducing with Tadic and Mane coming into their own. Soton is having more attacks built from the midfield which seems a lot more formidable than Everton's at the moment. So the attacking points of these two will be fewer and further inbetween.
CONS
1. High price.
A double-up will set you back by 14-12.5 mil, depending on the combination. But now that there are many high-scoring budget forwards to choose from, while some of the stars are injured/out of form, it gives a window where only a single top-range forward can be used and extra the money spent on defense. There are many cheaper midfield options too, for the purpose of creating funds.
2. Europa League
Always a downer when it comes to the following weekend. And since it affects the attack more than defense, there might be a drop in points. But the corresponding upcoming fixtures are Sun, Tot, QPR. 2 easy opponents and spurs who have a europa game as well. So the impact may not be great.
In conclusion, they are a viable alternative for those who seek a differential route into defender points-scoringAlcaraz may mitigate con 1 although that would create a "rotation risk" con.
May definitely consider! 🙂 Here, have an upvote, BTW 🙂
To me the cons simply outweighs the pros - for owning both, that is. You may also add woeful defending to the cons. Choose one of them, and use money in midfield or on Chelsea defender.
Eh? There are only 2 cons and 4 (FOUR) pros! 😕
The chelsea defense has produced only 1 CS more than Everton. And their sole attacking outlet Ivan, is not going forward as often. Plus there is bonus points to look at. Fab, haz will take a share each time
I have both Baines and Coleman, Ivan too. I don't classify the Everton duo as defenders at all, given their attacking threat, so essentially I'm playing with a 1-6-3 formation:
Forster
Ivan
Coleman ADM Tadic Chadli Fabregas Baines
Welbeck Aguero BerahinoDidn't realize this - currently going with Baines + Clyne + 3 cheapo's myself, and will stick to that for a while.
same here
What's the news on Oviedo? He could be a great OoP alternative.
