The Big Numbers – Last Four Matches – Forwards

After assessing the Defence and Midfield numbers over the last four matches, we turn our attentions to up front this evening. A number of double Gameweek options arrive under analysis, including Everton, City and Newcastle’s main men, whilst we also compare Arsenal and United’s strikers and doff our cap to Tottenham’s man of the moment after a series of scintillating displays.

I think the problem with these chips is that when my ML rivals figure out what I'm up to, they will be so confused and angry they will accuse me of "cheating"

They will be like disaffected rednecks at a Trump rally.

      In the same boat.

I vote no chips and only 1 wildcard next season!

No chance it'll happen though :/

Reviewed my options and believe a WC
With Kane Mahrez & your Leicester defender is most desirable and will most likely merit the most points.

    Any conversing views?

I'm actually doing Kane, Mahrez and, controversially, PvA!

PvA has an okay 33 fixture (LEI H), an okay 34 fixture (nor a), and also has a fixture in 35 plus DGW37. Attacking threat is well known.

I do like Leicester defenders but I feel like with PvA in it's one less change for me before 37, giving me a spare FT to use somewhere in my planning if I need some emergency surgery from an unexpected injury.

      Hope that is useful! 🙂

Current owner of PVA and 100% in my 37 team, may look to keep him in too as you said it saves a precious transfer in getting him back in!

P.S have a feeling PVA will get a haul this week.

Yeah man, I'd keep him in - can see them playing up til the end of the season (there's a few Mackems on these fora who will tell you!) so I can't see anything to say I shouldn't keep PvA - Mahrez - Kane as my SGWers if I'm planning til the end!

Here's my WC team (for as soon as the game unlocks after this GW):
          Hennessey Mignolet
          Bellerin Sakho Smalling PvA Janmaat
          Bolasie Mahrez Ozil Lingard Payet
          Lukaku Kun Kane

Can't wait til the community smashes it this DGW 🙂

          Good luck, DL!

Kane has some tough fixtures coming up so I'm not expecting big hauls from him, I think Sturridge will deliver more points until GW35!

    Repost from last article!

    One week punt. Goalkeeper.

    Almost an oxymoron!

Any idea who? Here's my team, 1 week before WC, can bring in any keeper.

    Butland (to be replaced!)
    Daniels Fuchs Ivan
    Payet Mahrez Eriksen Siggy
    Kun Kane Vardy

    Who? Courtois? Ospina/Cech if fit?

    Cheers in advance 🙂

    for a GW33 wc

    a) Mahrez and Clyne
    b) Coutinho and a defender for up to 4.6 (can't be Arsenal or Pool)

If A I would likely bench one of Mahrez or Ozil GW37
    if B I would bench Ozil GW37

keeping Simpson and not getting Clyne could be an option as it allows Smalling over Rojo

Whom are you guys bringing in as your No.1 stopper in place of Butland? DDG, Courtois, Adrian or someone else?

Has anyone actually run correlations on which defensive statistic best performs future goals against?

The number of "big chances" are just too small in a six-game stretch. The amount of statistical wobble in that variable is just too great to be predictive, me thinks.

I (possibly erroneously) tend to think goals are most likely scored from inside the box from open play, so the Goal Attempts In Box Conceded data would lead me to actually have some confidence in both Everton and Palace.

I think when you look at other teams in the league and their squads there are a few who have made some great signings and now have very capable players at their disposal. I know they were a big team in the past but when you look at the Everton squad it doesn't stand out heads and tails above the other teams that are fighting it out for Europa league / 6th place etc etc.

I have to disagree on that I'm afraid. IMO we should be in the top 4 this season. How many of the Utd side would get in it for instance? DDG, Martial, Mata and Smalling. And Rooney 🙂
              And maybe Carrick
Ans Shaw if he was fit

lol, what makes you think you should be top 4? really. Sorry limbo but we will have ti disagree on this. United aren't top4 either . You have a decent defence, Lukaku and other than Barkley and maybe Delofeau its not enough to be getting into the top 6 let alone the top 4 imho,

Only reasons n I say it is because Leicester are top. City and Utd are poor. We had a chance this season. West Ham are close, Everton should be up there too.

My mate at work is a toffee and had high hopes this season and now shouts Bobby must go etc. The team I support in Scotland I expect to be top 4 but we got relegated 2 seasons ago and are finding it difficult getting back up, Dundee United are facing relegation this year. This is probably why I am saying this. Times have changed

I disagree with this, they haven't had much money and all other teams in the Premiership get vast sums of money now so there is a more even spread of wealth and due to this some of the so called lesser teams can bring in real quality. You just have to look at some of the stoke signings, Who would have thought 5 years ago that Shaqiri, Bojan, Affelay and the likes would be playing there. There is no team who has any so called "right" to finish anywhere any more.

      yes I would

I think he is taking you backwards and is clueless on organising a defence. You have lost 8 home games this season, have dropped 14 points from winning positions (and a total of 45 in his 3 seasons)

totally unaccpetable that a team with the level of talent you guys have are in the bottom half.

as for a replacement that's tougher. We can rule out Brodge or Moyes IMO, if he could be tempted the Ginger Mourino might be a good shout.

              what's wrong with him?

doing a good job on a limited budget, knows how to organise a defence and deserves a chance at a better team IMO. He'd sort that defence out and buy a decent keeper

              Heaton
              Coleman, Jags, Stones, Baines

That back 5 with a guy who can organise.

That can change if you bring in the "right" manager.

Everton are a higher standard than Dyche.

You cant say Everton should be a top 6 team in one breath and in the next recommend Dyche as a potential manager to do it.

                    Lol.

By that logic they should let you run the Olympic 100m sprint final just to for the craic to see if you can run fast or not.

They're only a couple of points off the top half now with a game in hand.. Under this new owner they will be looking higher than that

a sign of how far Moyes took you IMO

IMO Martinez doesn't win the FA cup, he doesn't get the job in the 1st place

If he improved your results he'd win fans over. Who would you like?

Who would I like? I honestly don't know because I don't know who's good that we could get. Howe would be my first choice from England but I'd really like to see another season from him first at Bournmouth.

I'd definitely want him out. And replaced by someone not a complete nutter. Garde would be good and could be released by Villa soon anyway, so I would probably try to negotiate a free release of him asap to give him time to get to know the squad and club structures for better summer planning.

Alternatively, if they want to give a chance to an English manager, Howe from B'mouth seems like he could be good.

He's top class. One of the future greats. You can't seriously blame that Villa failure on him. The way he even temporarily managed to solidify their defence was almost miraculous, seen the scenes before it. Now it's like that again.

He has proven himself at Lyon pretty well. Also, started out reasonably well with an awful team (that had only won 1 match before he took charge), until the recent collapse of the team.

The big wonder is why on earth he took over Villa in the first place. He could have got so much better.

Is he a total lunatic too? I didn't know that.

Martinez's problem is not that he wants to play possession football, nor anything in his tactical style. It's that he's a madman and hence ends up doing mad decisions.

I think Howe will be difficult to tempt. He is embarking on something at Bournemouth and seems to like living on the coast.

He would be a fine choice but hard to get

Surely there is no point having Barkley/Bolasie/Lennon for GW33 but not GW34, was contemplating a switch after GW33 but this is rendered pointless by the odds. Switching either of those three for 'someone better' surely negates the point of having them at all, unless by some massive stroke of luck they get loads of points in 33 but none in 34.

That does make sense but I'm thinking that if I have say Barkley for 33 and he blanks then there is every chance if I swap him for Couts/Firm that Barkley then picks up some points in 34 when one of those 2 doesn't.

Bolasie's threat looks good, if I'm punting, I'm punting for 4 games in 2 weeks.

Okay, cracked it I think. I can get Sanchez in for DGW 34 and then Sturridge for my punt.

    Come down to this

    A) Simpson + Sanchez up to GW 35
    + [Creswell for GW 36 & 38]

    B) Bellerin + Mahrez up to GW 35
    + [Bellerin for GW 36 & 38]
