He got into good positions, right? Palace at home is a tasty fixture. Also, Aguero might be tired after his midweek game. I have Hazard too but I don't know how defensive Conte will be in away games

You'll find that those who do well in fantasy just captain the popular choice, it will always be aguero or risk falling behind heeps if he explodes. Risky captain choices are something you do late in the season when:
      a) it's your only option to catch up to the people in front of you, as a template will have formed and this will be your differential.
      b) you know what you can expect from players so can make safer captaincy choices (unlike gameweek 1)

      Im currently on Firmino (c).

Looks like Liverpool games could be around 4-3 every week, as a Liverpool fan it's going to be an interesting season!

I think Burnley might make it boring, its the kind of game liverpool will struggle in, and make perfect sense, batter arsenal, fail to score against Burney.

    Any thoughts...?

    A. Lukaku, Mane & Sterling

    Or

    B. Zlatan, Barkley & Lamela

...hoping Lukaku moves to Chelsea and Mane's injury isn't too bad

Morning all. I'm still considering the Vardy/Alli to Ibra/Lamela -4 switch this week.

What are people's thoughts on this? Not catching the .1 rise on Ibra would be annoying for rest of squad at this stage.

Don't think it should even be a decision tbh - Mourinho might play Pogba at 10 in the away games (as he played Fabregas), and Mkhi is a big threat too

For some reason I put Lingard in my team as my 4th mid and I'm already regretting it. My midfield is,

    Hazard - Wijnaldum - Redmond - Deulofeu - Lingard

With 0 ITB. Any thoughts on who I could transfer Lingard to? Such a waste of 6mill at the minute.

Asked by my mates at my club who want to play FPL. They all like their football but not what I would call addicts. One guy ask me to give pointers to start and pin it up on the notice board so they start a mini league.
    My thoughts are:
    1. Go to this site for advice.
    2. Pick a balance of Goalies/Defenders 27 mil, Mids 40 mil, forwards, 33 mil.
3 Always have 2 bench players who will play.
4 Point scorers at the back based on team ability
5 Point scorers mids and forwards on individual ability.

There are a lot of things to say but not so easy to paraphrase to 5 points.
What should be added and taken out?

An as FFS community, how do we feel about the integration between FPL and FFS?

Mark spoke about it in the pre-amble and I'm genuinely happy he's doing something he loves for a living. I don't mind the extra competition and awareness this brings to the game, leveling the playing field etc etc.

It's only 1 week into the season but am already starting to see the value proposition of FFS diminishing. The @OfficialFPL twitter is basically spoonfeeding information. How much is too much?

    1. THE REAL RON ⚽
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 1 month ago

What is the difference between the PL twitter account "spoonfeeding" and us reading articles on here?

Mark's trying to make a living. Yes, I'd agree, it's diminishing the value of this site to us and probably making people ask what the point of membership is, but it's boosting the value of FPL to him. So even if people don't sign up next year, he'll be doing alright!

I'd agree with that - a combo of the poor ticker upgrade and the amount of information now easily available. I've got no grudge over that though. We make a choice if we want to pay or not, but that gives us no control over how the site is run.

Hence I prefaced the question with, as a *community*.

The content being available to a wider audience, that's not my concern - it's Mark's and FFS' business model and strategy. But the new people coming to this site have no sense of belonging to the community...create accounts...shoot a question and eff off.

Regular posters try to respond but then it gets tiresome. I was here Thursday and Friday...couldn't be arsed to post. I'm sure I'm not alone. Let's put it this way - if FFS became just a news portal and another site focuses more on the community engagement aspect of things, and some regular posters start switching there - would you jump?

I'm not sure how the new FPL stuff has anything to do with the community here.

Every single year in the past 2-3 years at least we've heard how FFS is getting too busy, it's too difficult to speak to regulars, there's too many newbies who come then go.

There's definitely a lot of traffic and at peak times it can be difficult to see posts as the pages move so fast but that isn't a new thing really.

Otherwise I still see plenty of regulars and I still read and respond to their post. I make a point of checking the recent comments for any replies as I don't like to post and then go (although it happens sometimes with work).

But that's just me, the community also has to help itself of course.

And if you have any ideas (probably not worth suggesting a forum 🙂 ) about how things could be done better let Jonty know 🙂

Have no grudge against more content on the FPL site (well some grudges but I can see why it is what it is). But I see the might/will have on the community side of things is very clear - i'll not repeat stuff in this reply but it's all over the thread.

The replies to this thread, though a few, are from some regular posters. It's an odd time of day but repost this at peak-ish hours and you will likely find replies largely similar. There is already some discontent. Am sure Mark is cautious of this and has been transparent with the business strategy side of things - which the community has seem to accepted.

But what we'd like to see is proactive steps to manage or at least acknowledge that things are being done to address some of these concerns. The loyalty is there, it just has to be reassured/strengthened, not forgotten or taken for granted.

For starters my whereabouts here have drastically reduced. And has been the same for quite a few regulars now.

Lot of great posters here mind and i've started coming for the community articles more than the FFS articles now.

precisely LR. It's got to a point where I don't see the personal value in posting/replying. I bookmark the posters I like, check on them once in awhile, reply to their posts even if it's hours back....

I have no issue with the business strategy of the site, but i don't like where the community aspect of things is going

The @OfficialFPL account you mention is pretty frustrating to be honest - seems like FPL are almost trying to reduce the importance of sites like this and Fix, certainly this season.

It's not bitterness about competition or anything like that, but it just reduces the fun. If the account is going to point out every differential or every bit of news what's the point?

It comes down to how much people care. If you don't care then you're not gonna benefit that much from spoon feeding. If you do care then this website hardly a secret. We still have to make decisions anyway, options for every spot this season

I don't mind info being on fpl as it is out there anyway. My biggest concern is when analysis or opinions are put on the fpl website and Twitter feed. Seems to negate the need for ffs and the community here which has to be a bad thing.

Still not impressed over the ict change as well. Fine for it to move but to give it fpl and not warn us before we pay the membership is disappointing.

exactly. I normally pay membership a week before the season as I like to use it as a last minute sense check rather than spend hours and hours going through the stats.

The moment I saw the content FPL site had to offer, I knew it was a waste of money paying for membership here.

It's a vicious circle - and the "victims" here imo are the regular posters who've been here for upwards of 5 years.

I found it really amusing as i was watching the telly in India last Friday. Prime time and Marks FPL show came up. The likes of Redmond were thrown in my face and everybody in India saw that coverage.

A week down the line, i've resigned to the fact that any shrewed businessman would have gone in bed with FPL. It is good for him, no doubt and he's not bound by us at all.

        yea business is business!

Slowly but surely, this game is being stripped down to pure luck, as the more dedicated managers (FFS members and dedicated non-FFS FPL players) get steered in the same direction and a tighter pool of players.

I won't be surprised if a "WC Strategy" or "How to best utilize your chips" articles get posted on the FPL site itself soon.

But it's people's ability to interpret the information that makes the difference. Same in poker, all the info on how to be good is out there yet still a lot of people suck at it

I'm not impressed that the same analysis on here is now all over the scout articles in the FPL app etc. I think it is significantly devaluing this site. I didn't buy membership for the stats and members articles, I pay to support the site which has provided lots of useful tips. I won't be doing that in the future if those tips (many of which come from the debate in the community, to one extent or another) are being sold to FPL.

Sadly - I'm really struggling today - anyone who saw Tuesday's ScoutCast would have seen I was coming down with something and today I'm dosed up and just about managing to stay lucid.

So, not a time to come on here and get involved in this but I would like to have a discussion via a hot topic very soon, perhaps.

The basic crux of it is that we've worked producing material and articles for the Premier League for five seasons now. I don't think you or their audience have been aware of this because they haven't been that effective in communicating FPL content out.

They are now because they're pushing it via dedicated social channels.

To a great extent, the stuff we're doing now for them is just breaking down the previews and FPL extras we wrote for the last two seasons into multiple articles.

The material was always there, it just wasn't communicated effectively.

I'm now dedicated to Fantasy Football - working with the Premier League and steering FFS. I'd hope that would be a good thing for everyone here. For starters I've never been able to post at 9.50 in the morning for the last three years because my day job kept me from this.

Perhaps we do have re-align FFS content and the approach now - to be honest, I wasn't aware of how the material I'm providing would be packaged and pushed.

Give me some time to get better and then I'll come on here and talk some more.

    What to do with Ayew?

    A) Bench & play Stones / Friend / Capoue. Lets me tinker with 2 FT next week

    B) Ship for Ramirez / Lamela / 8.0m mid

Not for me...too many people at everton play the same sort of role. I am thinking more barkley if you want Everton coverage or Lamela. Another option is Ramirez which will free up cash elsewhere

Barkley owners beware. Ronald clearly stated if he was no more consistent he would make changes. He started off well but as an Everton supporter I don't have full trust in him.

    Need opinion splease !
Who is the best pick from these players:

    1. Deulofeu
    2. Bolasie
    3. Grey

Also do you think that Lamela and Redmond are better picks and will have more points at the end of the season than Grey ?

Should i spread 1 or 1.5 more and just pick Barkley and catch price rise tonight ?

    Thanks ! 😀

Probably Gray but none of them inspire tbh. Not too keen on Lamela and I'd rather back Redmond for now.

Forget price rises-just get the right players in. Barklay needs to be monitored first.

Some dodgy players there and none of them are heavy enough for ff. Make sure you go for quality first.

Also Jaf i have Lamela in my team from the off. He's averaging 3 shots a game pre season. He matched Alli and Eriksen last 8 games of the season last year. And Spurs fans see he's improved a lot. Become a lot more selfish.

Am I right in saying there's only one more set of price changes between now and GW2? (When we get another FT)

So, there's only one more time Ibra can go up in price - and if he doesn't can get him without a hit next gw?

Yes, but the transfer will probably have to be made before the rest of your squad has played, which is a risky strategy (injuries and suspensions, and no FT's)

FWIW though having checked Fix I think Ibra may well go up tonight if enough people clock onto the fact that the deadline is tomorrow.
