Monitor – Christian Benteke

Christian Benteke had a tough time last season. Despite moving to Liverpool for £32.5 million from Aston Villa, the striker was cast aside by Jurgen Klopp in his effort to find a centre forward capable of bringing his gegenpressing approach to Merseyside.

However, Benteke has re-emerged on the radar of Fantasy managers following his move to Crystal Palace.

Having scored a textbook headed opener against Middlesbrough in Palace’s 2-1 win on Teesside, Benteke’s FPL price tag of 7.5 is likely to attract suitors drawn to his power in the air.

There are plenty reasons why that’s the case.

Although Liverpool seemed hesitant to use Benteke’s aerial strength to their advantage, Crystal Palace already appear to be building an attacking approach based around it. This suggests he could be on course to become an outstanding third striker option over the coming season.

    Hi, would anyone mind rating my WC team please? My concerns are no Spurs, Arsenal or Man Utd, particularly no Ibra but think Costa/Luka is better long term than Ibra/Tekkers;

    Heaton, Foster
    Baines, Stones, Friend, Holebas, Amat
    Hazard, Firmino, Antonio, Puncheon, Capoue
    Kun, Costa, Lukaku

    Hey guys -

    Does this sound like a sensible route?

    Barkley and Diomande for Lukaku and 4.5mid (-4).
    Then Ozil and Ibra for Aguero and Firmino next week.

    Last time asking. Would you do this for -4? WCing this weekend

    Ramirez -> Nolito
    Gray -> Iheanacho

          Ramirez isn't that bad an option. Basically if you think Nolito will get at least 5 points more than Ramirez then it's worth the 4 point hit. I'd just do Nacho for now though then wait until your Willard to get rid of Ramirez.

      Change Negredo, if just for one week then Negredo to Nacho.
      Williams could be a better option (long term) than Stones.
      Lamela to Antonio.

      Obviously wouldn't do all of those if that meant an 8 point hit though.

    Sanchez or Hazard long term? One needs to give way GW6 to allow for Aguero to come back in and join Ibra and Tekkers.

      I think both Sanchez and Hazard will outscore Ibra the rest of the way, and both are cheaper, but you can't drop Ibra unless you have real guts due to ownership %. I may drop him GW8 barring goals in weeks 5, 6 and 7 for him... If he blanks 2 of the next 3, I think I'll go without him and stick to Hazard, Sanchez, Aguero as my big three...

        Good points. Ibra's ownership could drop in GW6 when Aguero is back. Ibra just looks so dangerous at the moment and is the only feasible Utd attacking option. But agreed, if Ibra does start to blank a few games then he won't justify his large price tag - I almost hope he does blank to make these decisions a bit easier!
        I also see where Mark was coming from in the scoutcast this week when questioning if it is feasible to have Ibra when you're likely to captain Aguero most weeks.

      Sanchez has only returned once so far. I don't get the obsession given the cost and given I won't be captaining him over Aguero. I'd rather Hazard and spread the rest of my cash.

        Sanchez is a great player though and definitely has potential to return big over the next few weeks. Hazards fixtures are tougher and if being extra critical could question his away form. Will use this GW to watch how both perform then decide.

    Long term (from GW6 onwards), which would you prefer:

    A) Lallana + Ozil
    B) Firmino + Cazorla

    Other mids are Hazard, Antonio, Capoue, so feel free to suggest alternatives in the same price range.

      Tough choice but probably A. Just think Cazorla mainly relies on penalties for goals, he's had a great start but don't see these high returns continuing.

    Is it worth taking a punt on firmino and mane from next week. Feel they could be getting double digit hauls?

      Possibly, though I'm slightly concerned they won't do as well against more defensive teams (such as Hull). They seem to play best against other attacking teams.

      Too much reliance on lpool that way,ie one bad game and they both blank. Liverpool seem to perform and score better against the better teams - so far did well against Arsenal and Leicester but struggled against the teams you would expect them to comfortably win against.

    Hard choosing captain this week. Has been on Ibra all week, but now starting to consider Lukaku. Looks like he has hit form, could easily have scored more than 3 goals on Monday. Also the better fixture on paper.

      I would ...You know he is going to lead the line against a team that loves to concede goals.. There defo could be a goals or assists there for him. Where as Negredo feel will struggle against a confident Everton side.
