The Midweek Team News

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is ruled out of United’s trip to Palace with a short-term ankle problem. Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi is sidelined due to a hamstring injury, whilst Emre Can is still doubtful for Liverpool’s trip to the Riverside.

Shkodran Mustafi is out for three weeks with the hamstring problem that forced him off during Arsenal’s weekend win over Stoke. Aaron Ramsey remains sidelined with a similar complaint for this evening’s trip to Everton.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is ruled out of United’s trip to Palace with an ankle problem, though Jose Mourinho expects the Armenian international’s absence to be short term. Antonio Valencia is suspended after falling off the Suspension Tightrope with his fifth yellow of the season against Spurs.

Emre Can remains a doubt for Liverpool’s trip to Middlesbrough, though is expected to return in time for next week’s Merseyside derby with Everton at the latest. Jurgen Klopp remains uncertain as to whether Dejan Lovren is available, after the defender was forced off with cramp against West Ham on Sunday.

Junior Stanislas and Andrew Surman will remain unavailable for Bournemouth’s clash with Leicester, Eddie Howe conceded yesterday.

Craig Dawson is suspended for West Brom’s home clash with Swansea after earning a fifth caution of the season during Sunday’s loss at Chelsea.

Marc Muniesa and Glen Johnson are rated as slight doubts for Stoke’s clash with Southampton. Jon Walters and Ryan Shawcross are back in training, with the former more likely to be available.

Charlie Austin is set to stay on the sidelines for around three-to-four months with shoulder ligament damage sustained on Europa League duties last Thursday.

Younes Kaboul is back in training and will be assessed ahead of Watford’s trip to Man City. Valon Behrami is a slight doubt due to illness, though Roberto Pereyra is available, having served a one-match suspension.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this evening’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Tuesday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

This seems like a silly question, but with Dawson out will it dent WBA CS potential?

They have not been great at keeping cs with him so i would say no might even help them

I have the exact money ITB to do Can & Austin > Siggy & Diomande. I know Diomande isn't ideal.Thoughts?

If Diomande is bench fodder and you're going 3-5-2 it could be good....

He will be but my team is a bit of a mess atm and would have to play Capoue this gw. Looking at downgrading a defender and upgrading Cap next week.

He is not a useless donkey at 4.5 and gets the odd goal he is one of the best enablers in the game just as good as the likes of Anichebe imo

Having the worse season since i started playing, any ideas on how to improve this lot?

    Foster
    Alonso - Mee - Lovren*
Hazard - Sanchez - De Bruyne - Can*
    Kane - Costa - Llorente

    Bench - Jaku - Fletcher - McAuley - Kingsley

Thinking i need to get rid of De Bruyne and upgrade Can tbh, defence aint looking to good either! the winter wildcard cant come quick enough!

Could you afford De Bruyne and Can to Eriksen and Siggy? If not, downgrade KDB and Lovren. Eriksen and Aldewiereld?

Thanks, unless something more pressing comes up i'll likely do that next week - think its just a grin, bare and likely play Fletcher and/or McAuley this week then.

Just checking, you mean the second half of the season wildcard rather than winter wildcard (this changed a season or two ago)...? Preferable to keep the second wildcard until the double gameweeks come round as a rule.

On your team, I'd play one of Fletcher or McAuley this week instead of Can then look at ditching KDB and Can for the next GW.

      1. Wheato182
        • 11 Years
        7 years, 6 months ago

Yeah the second half of the season wildcard - i think to us veterans it'll always be known as the winter wilcard tho!

Tbh I don't think i'm gonna to get the choice and will likely have Fletcher or McAuley coming off my bench anyway as doesn't sound like Can will feature. Thank you for your response pal.

Woah, great setup. I guess lack of Sanchez means you can spread funds. Annoyingly you're now gonna have this predicament most weeks. Definitely don't bench Nacho or Hazard. Toss up for Siggy or Phillips. Fancy West Brom to win, but as we know Siggy involved in nearly everything if Swansea do win...

Cheers mate, it is quite annoying I must say. I was thinking of benching Siggy at this stage, but given his form that's very tough to do. Although, to be fair, Phillips is in some awesome form as well...... Might have to just flip a coin and just hope for the best.

I was also considering benching Nacho as he could easily come on as sub and have a 1 point cameo, but then again, WAT is a tasty, tasty fixture.

            Anyway, cheers for the response

Very good news. It means if he's in the points I won't be too worried about not owning him.

I'm still mulling over doing Firmino to someone and while Payet is right up there I'm still not confident in him or West Ham.

I wanted him but let Eriksen's price + price rise sway me that way instead..

yep, between the two for me too and considering over 70k have gotten rid of Firm looks like a lot ended up going Eriksen. I just think Payet is much better to be honest and worth the extra outlay.

He has not really won over managers trust yet with his performances
Even that free kick against Liverpool was a soft goal my granny would have saved that

Apart from the odd lacklustre display he's looked good in a team playing terribly! Think we will start seeing a different WHU from now on though with Payet to the fore

Looking forward to seeing who Wenger prefers out of Holding and Gabriel.. Think I'll downgrade Kosc to one of them for the Xmas period to fund upgrades elsewhere.

Different crowd, similar question. Am I good to go or is there anything worth -4?

    Foster
    Koscielny - Alonso - Walker
    Hazard - Sanchez - Siggy - Eriksen
    Kane (c) - Origi - Iheanacho

    Pick/ Holebas - Amat - Capoue

    Thanks guys!!!

RP. Is Phil Jones for a hit worth more than say George Friend or Nathan Aké in the long run?

    A) Lovren & Walker > Jones & Alonso (-4) before GW17
    B) Lovren > Friend/Aké in GW17. Walker > Alonso in GW18.

leads my company league with 30+ points so no panic, but want to edge it (2nd in league probably going w costa, based on recent history)

Kane is still a big differential, larger gain if he explodes.

true. ended up w (c) on kane before posting, but still had doubts - seems like its just lock n load and hoping for the best
tricky round event tho lots of 'easy' matchups :-/
