Team Analysis – Assessing Silva’s Hull City

Written off as relegation certainties just over a month ago, Hull City’s survival bid has been given a significant shot in the arm since the arrival of new manager Marco Silva.

Two wins and a draw in five matches under the Portuguese’s stewardship, supplemented by clean sheets against the likes of Mancheser United and Liverpool, have seen many Fantasy Premier League managers assess the KCOM outfit in a new light.

Key to Hull’s appeal is, of course, that they play in both Gameweek 26 and 28 – indeed, Silva’s men are one of just eight sides currently set to feature in the latter round of matches.

As the interest starts to escalate in light of this weekend’s FA Cup results, we cast an eye over Hull’s recent matches, comparing the numbers to their previous statistics for signs of progress, while checking out the Tigers’ chief performers as we look to navigate the tricky upcoming schedule.

    Really, Pool midfield is a lottery. So for picking the pool MID, I will apply the precepts

    - pick the most consistant, the most infuent in the game
    - think about set pieces
    - beware of YC/red Cards magnets

    So for me Coutinho is above Mané and Firmino for the next 3.
    Mané scored 2 ladt game but the second could easily been scored by lallana or coutinho. He was there, but got lucky with the rebound.
    Plus, he has this tendency to sometimes get stupid red cards

    Firmino and Mané really are way more punty than Coutinho imo. Well I respect those picks, I think they are great and will reward taking risks but I will trust what I see in games and have always thought Coutinho is the real deal

          He gave that impression, but I think Firmino's and Coutinho's PPG was the same when he was fit.

          Regardless, you decided on Coutinho then used "arguments" to try and make it make sense rather than the other way round.

          Not saying Coutinho isn't the best pick, but the logic doesn't follow

          Spurs have some fantastic fixtures for a good while. Not sure I (or many others) will be able to fit Kane in unless we forgo Costa or Ibra. Alli/Eriksen and Rose/Walker coming straight back in looks likely. Oh god how are we gonna fit Sanchez in!

          So trying to work out whether Ibra > Costa -4 might be a thing

          Obviously its all based on predictions of what could realistically happen, although the clue is in the name of the game, FANTASY football, as to why this can go pear shaped very fast.

          Let's say Costa gets 9 + 6 over his two fixtures, 15 - 4 =11.Let's lower it even further to say 6 + 6 = 12 -4 so 8 or let's say 12 + 6 = 18 - 4 so 14. ('Cos he never gets bonus. 😉 )

          At the lower end Ibra could just get an assist V Bou 5, at the higher end say 2 goals, so 12-15. Or goal + assist + bonus. 10-12.

          Thus ends mad ramblings that should probably have been left in my head....

              You're casual throwing around of imaginary numbers is confusing.

              Basically it boils down to;

              Ibra +4pts (no transfer) -2pts (the minimum a player will get without a booking/sub).

              Costa -4pts (hit) + 2pts for actually playing (as above).

              You get more opportunity for points with Costa as he'll play more minutes, but you have points in the bag for Ibra by not taking a hit.

                I know he's likely to have 2 blanks and 1 tough fixture in between, but with lot's of other transfer choices (Philips, Stanislas I'm looking at you) it seems a waste of 2 transfers to ship out then ship back in.

                  I had a look but even when they are playing OK they just don't seem to do cleansheets.

                  I'm going to just go with the cheaper Mawson who at least has goal threat. No point (in my mind) in paying extra of West Ham can't keep cleanies.

                  I don't. Just not trustworthy IMO. I think you want Spurs (fixtures are so good from now even with the blank), Man Utd (GW29 on) and you need to keep Chelsea + one of Coleman / Brunt.
