This afternoon we reveal who has made it through to the second round of both our Fantasy Premier League cup competitions.
In our open to all cup, reigning champion A Manager Has No Name saw off Flying Nugget 50-41 despite being more than 30,000 behind him in the overall rankings going into the clash.
The enigmatically-titled victor, who is placed at 30,453, now has himself another tricky tie, against community regular Krul runnings, who is 9,490 places above him.
He wasn’t the only cup winner to progress, with both Mark and I overcoming Sleep Talk and Virus in the mind respectively.
Mark, who is 472nd in the rankings, now faces 7,717-placed Jimmyt281, while I’ve got my work cut out to defeat 76,423-ranked Not Much Klopp, given my lowly 355,537 placing.
Former champions Donnellyc, Gribude and Wild Rover also prevailed. Of this trio, 323,577-placed Donnellyc has arguably the toughest encounter when he squares up to the 7,798-ranked SpartaBhoy.
Meanwhile, 67,661-placed Gribude faces 5,199-ranked Footopia and Wild Rover takes on Kabukkinen, who at 25,793, is 18,154 places ahead of our community’s resident Blackburn fan.
Sadly, we say goodbye to former winner MCH at this stage, who was defeated 49-42 by upthemiddle.
In the first round’s live Hall of Fame top ten derby, Philman, who is 1,071 in the overall standings and seventh in our list of all-time best FPL managers, lost 68-34 to Dronny Imp (aka David Meechan), who is tenth in our elite listings and has moved up to 7,275 in the world.
Legomane, who is 3,755 places behind David, has drawn the short straw to become this top manager’s next opponent.
Another to fall victim to the fixture list is FetchUp, who is placed 8,461 in the world but next faces Hana, who at 52 overall is the competition’s highest-ranked manager.
The full second round draw can be found here.
Meanwhile, in the Members’ Cup former winner Trigg, who is 134,835 in the world, won a close encounter with Bangkok Canary 59-53 and next takes on 56,151-ranked Fenghh.
FFScout Members’ League leader and 34th-placed Billy Ketsu was another victor. After overcoming Emckay, he now encounters Doctor101, who is ranked 56,236.
Other eye-catching ties include Jafooli’s clash with another community regular VS10, while Hana makes it through in this contest as well and takes on FFScout moderator Spencer .
The full second round draw can be found here.
There is £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers up for grabs for the final top three managers in both tournaments.
