The Gameweek 38 Team News

Laurent Koscielny remains a doubt for Arsenal’s home fixture against Everton. Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino faces a late fitness test ahead of Middlesbrough’s weekend visit, while Stoke’s Marko Arnautovic is a concern for the clash with Southampton.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss Arsenal’s final day home meeting with Everton, while Laurent Koscielny will undergo a fitness test today on a calf problem. Midfielder Aaron Ramsey is “alright” according to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, after being forced off with a knock in the midweek win over Sunderland.

Jurgen Klopp is optimistic that Roberto Firmino will recover from the knock that forced him to miss last week’s 4-0 win at West Ham – the Brazilian faces a late fitness test ahead of Sunday’s Anfield showdown with Middlesbrough.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe will be without Lewis Cook for the trip to Leicester City, with the midfielder away on international duty with the England U20s. Dan Gosling is fit again following a calf complaint, though, and Andrew Surman is also back in contention following a knee injury.

Winston Reid will miss West Ham United’s trip to Burnley after undergoing surgery on a long-standing knee injury.

Harry Maguire, Evandro and Abel Hernandez are all expected to miss Hull City’s home clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Andros Townsend has been ruled out of Crystal Palace’s trip to Manchester United with an Achilles injury, while Yohan Cabaye (foot) is a major doubt. Eagles boss Sam Allardyce did reveal James Tomkins is likely to be passed fit, however.

Marko Arnautovic is the main injury concern for Stoke City manager Mark Hughes ahead of the trip to Southampton after suffering a bang to his elbow in last weekend’s 4-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Swansea City head coach Paul Clement could be without Borja Baston (knee) for the home fixture against West Bromwich Albion, but Angel Rangel and Wayne Routledge returned to full training last week and are expected to be available for selection.

West Brom head coach Tony Pulis revealed there were a couple of “knocks and bruises” suffered during the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday night that need to be assessed, with Salomon Rondon (hamstring) believed to be the biggest concern. Gareth McAuley (knock) and Matt Phillips (hamstring) remain major doubts.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of Sunday’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

I honestly can't think of a transfer worthwhile doing this week. I might just save the transfer and hope to gain a few places due to less transfers used 😆 any ideas?

    Willy
    Alonso, Monreal, Yoshida
    Sanchez, Eriksen, Sane, Fabregas
    Costa, Kane, Jesus

Your team looks solid. I wouldn't transfer either to be honest.

If Cout does well you might struggle, but not worth the hit to get him in.

So here is a thought especially for those chasing a gap or wanting a jump in the rankings. Kane and Sanchez both seem to be the best captain choice however are we (as usual) just chasing last week’s points?

City have been playing free flowing football and arguably should have scored more than the 10 goals in their recent three victories. City have few problems against weak opposition. Six wins from seven on the road, scoring at least twice in each against the bottom eight.

Watford’s Sebastian Prodl, one of only two fit centre-backs in the squad, got sent off last match so won’t be available for selection so the only central defender not banned or injured is Mariappa! Watford lost all seven games against the top-four, yielding at least four goals in four of these.

Spurs scored 4 goals against them at both meeting this season.
Chelsea also scored 4 along with Liverpool who scored 6! Even West Ham and the Saints put 4 past them!

With their problems at the back, the manager leaving and nothing to play for it could be prosperous afternoon for City.

Gabriel Jesus (C). Who’s with me?

That's a myth: There has never been a triple GW. Rooney did great in a DGW. One time Birm was going to have a TGW and we all planned to get Liam Ridgewell and some giant clumsy striker (forgot his name), but the triple didn't happen. Same answer but there's never been the Loch Ness Triple.

Yaya scored 21+10 in GW31 2013-14, which equals Kane's score. I had 154 that GW but got a red arrow!

When was Rooney's 32-pointer? Was it before 2009-10? He scored hat-tricks against Portsmouth in 2009-10, West Ham in 2010-11 and against Arsenal and Bolton in 2011-12, and also scored 4 against Hull in 2009-10, but I don't think any of these were in DGWs. Or did he perhaps get 2 braces and 2 assists in some other GW?

I don't believe there has ever been a triple game-week - not since I started playing FPL in 2009-10 anyway.

        Thanks, SS.

I somehow missed that when looking back through my records.
He scored all 4 goals against Hull for 20 points on 23 Jan 2010, so the other 12 points must have come in his previous PL match against Burnley on 16 Jan 2010.
Presumably one of these matches must have been on an FA Cup 4th round weekend, United having lost to Leeds in round 3.

I captained Valencia instead and only scored 101(-8) - no wonder I got a red arrow.

The most fun ever was having Lampard as captain against Derby when he pumped in 4 goals in a midweek game. My main rival called me after the fourth goal without ever having looked at my team on the FPL site and he started the convo saying, "You have him as captain, don't you." Wow that was fun. 25X2 was far more valuable than just 50, it was crushing to my opponents.

    Which 3 to play?
    A) Alonso SUN(H)
    B) Monreal EVE(H)
    C) Davies HUL(A)
    D) Yoshida STK(H)
    E) Stephens STK(H)
    My thinking:
A: First choice(if he dont show up then so be it)
B: Lukaku has to score but Arsenal will be concentrated so maybe cs. Monreal also very attacking
C: HUL so bad but Spurs will be very attacking so could slip 1 through like against LEI.
D&E. Neither team has something to play for but SOU has been solid at the back but...expect goals and fun in this game.
    So I think...ABC, agree?

    17 point lead going into final game;

    cech (pickford)
kompany - alonso - bailly (koscilney - bertrand)
zaha - sane - coutinho - sanchez (de roon)
    kane - rashford - gabbidini

    0ft 0.3 bank

    rival has

    willy
monreal - alonso - davies (valencia - amat)
sane - king - sanchez - eriksen (leko)
    rashford - kane - jesus

    Am I safe?
I think both of us will have less than 11 starters, only really worried about Jesus, but 17 points should be enough right?

Not sure. Think you need Jesus. He will probably sell Rashford to someone you won't have too. Plus fancy Eriksson to get more than zaha

2nd in the league but not sure which 2 transfers (-4) to make and AOA chip still to use

    Pickford/Jakupovic
    Blind, Stephens, Vertonghen,Stones,Holgate
Sanchez (c) Alli, Hazard, Sane, Carrick
    Kane, Jesus, Rashford

I need to get Coutinho. So Alli to Coutinho or Hazard to Coutinho
Plus Blind & Rashford more than likely won't play.

    Help please

Thoughts anyone? 1FT. 1.4 in the bank.
    Thinking Gabbiadini to Origi.

    Caballero
    Monreal - Alonso - Holding
    Redmond - Pedro - Sanchez - Sane
    Gabbiadini - Jesus - Kane

    Pickford - Vertonghen - Stephens - Albrighton

    Afternoon guys!
Hazard and Anichebe to Fabregas and Benteke for a hit?
Could then bench one of Stephens, Holgate and Holding and play AOA with Cahill and Yoshida as my defenders.

    Thanks a lot.

    Hey guys,

what do we think to this team for the final week.

    I have 0FT but 0.7m ITB

    Pickford
    Bavies/Kosc/Stephens
    KDB/King/Eriksen/Sanchez
    Jesus/Origi/Kane

    Bench: Jaku/Smith/Can/Holgate

    Thoughts greatly appreciated

I don't think Origi is nailed. If Firmino fit he will be the fall guy. Even if he isn't Liverpool could play Lucas ahead of him

29 points behind rival how am i best to try overtake him?

    my team

    cech
    alonso holding stephens
    eriksen sanchez de bruyne fabregas
    vardy costa jesus

cab king yosh holding 1ft 0.9 itb

    his team

    foster
    luiz azpi bailly
    eriksen alli de bryune sane
    rashford kane jesus

hes already made 1 move guessing alli for coutinho

any thoughts would be great cheers

I'd play King over Eriksen and transfer Lovren in (or Matip if you can afford).

Not that I think Eriksen's a bad pick (should come back and play), but you need to mix it up somewhere – and I think KDB would be riskier one to drop.

Got this feeling that Hazard will start, play 60-70 minutes before getting subbed off. And possibly getting a goal or 2 before leaving the pitch. Since conte will likely to play and prepare his first team who will play in the FA cup finals 6 days later.

Completely agree. The Way for game was the one which really didn't matter for Chelsea.

They'll want a home win at Stamford Bridge for last game, and appropriate send off for Terry
