Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 4 – Monday

Slaven Bilic relieves the pressure as he turns to a three-man defence, big Andy Carroll and an emphasis on crosses against a stubborn Huddersfield Town. A fortunate deflection sets them on their way, as the popular Chicharito fails to stem a tide of Fantasy sales.

Chicharito blanks in Carroll return

Owned by an army of 1.4 million Fantasy Premier League managers (27.7%), Chicharito was also burdened with the responsibility of 164,000 captaincy picks.

With Carroll returning to make a first start since April, he was very much playing off the big striker, with the Geordie the focal point of the Hammers attack down the middle.

But Chicharito had his opportunity – a first half effort which clipped the crossbar, one of only two touches in the box he enjoyed all evening.

More worryingly, it was the Mexican rather than the battle-weary Carroll who made way first, hooked on 63 minutes.

Shifted by 164,000 heading in Gameweek 4 and another 50,000 before he even kicked a ball last night, Chicharito’s sales now look likely to pick up pace.

His role could change to living off the knockdowns and scraps if the Hammers look to an aerial threat as a priority.

With Andre Ayew replacing him to score and assist, plus the return of Marko Arnautovic and Manuel Lanzini perhaps forcing a change of shape, there could even be mounting concerns on Chicharito’s minutes while Carroll remains available.

Doubts over his prospects come as a blow, given the current dearth of viable forward options around the 7.0 price tag.

Cresswell dominates set plays

While Michail Antonio was the most effective and eye-catching attacker on show at the London Stadium, Fantasy managers should also note the role played by Aaron Cresswell throughout.

Deployed as a wing-back in Slaven Bilic’s 3-4-2-1, Cresswell hogged set-pieces right and left and ended the match with 19 crosses – more than any other player in Gameweek 4.

Of course, this might not continue.

Arnautovic has now served out his ban and will surely be a factor on dead balls in the Gameweek 5 trip to West Brom.

Lanzini will be another protagonist at set-plays, although his return date remains uncertain as he continues to recover from a knee injury.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Can you believe I used my WC, selected the players I thought would get a double price rise, got smashed on Friday night and forgot to get my team right before the deadline on Saturday morning?!

    The mess looks like this:

    Lossl, Elliot
    Jones, Yoshi, Hegazi, Mbemba, Schindler
    Salah, Alli, Pogba, Richarlison, Mooy
    Morata, Lukaku, Firmino

    A) Downgrade Mooy and use the funds to upgrade defence next week;
    B) Schindler + Mooy ➡ Trippier + Cork for -4;
    C) Save
    D) Other

    Thanks a LOT!

I'm finding it very difficult to overlook Vardy and Firmino at 8.5.. both of them should be 180+ Point Strikers. Thinking of going with both of them + 1 of Lukaku/Kane for a captaincy option

Could work, especially if you plan to cover Chelsea and City with, say, Hazard and KDB. You could also squeeze in Alli/Eriksen, if you fancy Spurs.

Its been one gameweek and a lot of people have been sold on Chupo Moting. He looks a good player but he only scored 3 goals last year.

Hi any improvements to the following WC team?
Final WC draft - any suggestions?

    Elliot
    Kolasinac, Jones, Davies, Simpson
    Eriksen Hazard Mkhi
    Firmino Kane Vardy

    Subs: 4.0, Chalobah, RLC, 4.0

    1) Elliot being perm fixture as no back up keeper

    3) Firmino Hazard OR Morata Salah?

1 is a concern if Newcastle start shipping goals, otherwise ok for what it affords upfront.

2 is ok, city rotation looming and despite looking more secure, we really don't know for sure who will start each week.

3 Firm and Hazard could be excellent, get in there early, esp if Haz is on pens. I might err on the side of caution and get Morata Salah until Haz shows form though.

Joselu at 5.5 is looking extremely tempting as a third striker option.

Could this be the budget third striker we have been looking for?

Nine shots on target over the last 4GWs (more than Jesus, Firmino or Pogba to name a few.) Also he is firmly placed on the Goals Imminent table.

Next five: STK - bha - LIV - sot - CRY

He was a monster threat.. played on the right of the front 3 and ran like crazy. i cant believe i dint get atleast an assist from that performance. Glad he is back to his best though.. gonna keep him till GW 13 and hope he gets better every week

I'm hoping he can emerge as an option. In what position did he play? Offensive mid?

already is an option imo.. next 2 games are a bit tricky but after that he is gonna be immense

Agree, was sensational. Huddersfield just couldn't handle him. Should've had a couple of assists too. Great option going forward if playing like that every week

Afternoon all. Just wanted to see who you think is my priority to get out from the below. Have 2 FT and happy to take -4. I would say Daniels, Mane and Chica but Willian is a potential nuisance too.

    Foster
    Danilo - Jones - Daniels
    William - Pogba - Alli - Mane
    Chica - Luk (C) - Jesus

    Mee - Carroll - Rosenoir

    De Gea
    Kolasinac • Stephens • Hegazi
    Eriksen • Willian • Tadic • Ritchie
    Kane • Lukaku • Firmino

    Elliot • T.Carroll • Mbemba • Long

    £1.0m ITB
    2FT

Willian & Tadic are my two immediate concerns given they didn't start at the weekend. Have the exact money to do Willian & Tadic ➡️ Groß & Salah.

Will keep an eye on Hegazi & Stephens' starts. If they lose their places then they're on the chopping block next.

(Before the "WAIT" responses - I won't be making any moves until Friday)

      Should've asked my actual question!

Is Willian & Tadic ➡️ Groß & Salah the right way to go? Any other players I should look at instead of Groß & Salah?

Consider Choupo-Moting / Jese, but to be honest I haven't seen Groß play yet. Willian to Salah does look a good move. However Mbemba, Long, Stephens, Hegazi look a real worry.

Keep Willian (no other Chelsea) or get Jese / Choupo-Moting?

If he starts tonight (which is highly likely) I'd get rid. Cointoss for me between those two. Rather get Ritchie tbh.

If you have bench players, save and see how rotation works over CL.

Want to get rid of Britos for Cresswell but need 0.5m from somewhere...and have 2FT. Vaguely content without Chelsea cover for next 3 gameweeks as don't see too many points... will want some when they go to Selhurst Park unless Palace pick up form though!
