As one of just six sides expected to be granted a pair of fixtures in both Gameweek 34 and 37, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) interest in Leicester City has reached a new high.

Understandably, Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy are the main targets among Claude Puel’s regulars as managers wield their Wildcards, with faith in their defence dented by a run of six Gameweeks without a clean sheet.

One look at the remaining schedule (bha NEW bur & SOT blank cry WHU tot), though, looks promising for points at both ends of the pitch.

Indeed, the Foxes’ next six opponents all sit outside the top six, with a home encounter against Arsenal expected to drop into the penultimate round of fixtures.

With two goals and four assists to his name, Harry Maguire appears to be the standout contender among the Leicester backline. Yet at a lofty 5.6 in FPL, does he justify the extra outlay over his budget-friendly, defensive team-mates?

In our next Monitor members’ article on Wildcard targets ahead of Saturday’s Gameweek 32 deadline, we look to the Opta data for answers.

    On a WC,
    5th defender dilemma:

    a) Mustafi with planned transfer for Duffy in DGW34
    b) Just get Duffy now to allow another transfer

    Cheers

Are you sure Duffy will out-score Mustafi in GW34? I think he will, but I'm not sure it warrants a transfer. And, if you kept him, Mustafi potentially has a significantly better-looking GW37 double than young Shane.

I agree Duffy is not guaranteed to outscore Mustafi in GW34, but I'll need to downgrade him to afford Auba > Lukaku.

Fair enough. I'm just on this mental Mustafi-kick at the moment.

      Depends on many factors.

The above comment is not true. Get the player you think will get you the most points. If anything, Duffy is the short-term pick. If you go with A, keep an open mind about the potential replacement and be prepared to keep Mustafi if someone else in the team needs to be replaced/ downgraded.

I'll need the money from Mustafi to Duffy to allow Lukaku to come in. Things might get complicated if there are injuries. Might just play it safe and get Duffy now

I know, many are in the same position. All I'm saying is you might need to do Gross to someone, Son to Lingard or Alonso to Christensen and it will all be a moot point. Be flexible. Risky is the new safe. 😉

FYI, I'm in a similar position. Leaning with going Mustafi and trying to maximise the half decent team value for the next few (even if it means two 'planned' transfers). Not sure about playing someone like Duffy or Morgan this week when there is another option. If I do so, the back three will be identical to someone like Jonty's for this week and there will be no potential advantage gained on going a bit lighter up top (at least in the short-term).

Yeh you may have convinced me with Mustafi.

The one concern I have is if Kane is fit. I'd want him instead of Lukaku, which would been a downgrade of one of my more expensive assets which I'd like to keep (Willian,Son,Alonso). Or I could make a triple transfer and take one hit.

If I have Duffy now and Kane is fit, I can simply downgrade Gross and upgrade Auba for not hit.

Okay, fair enough. That changes things slightly. You'll have to have a look and weigh it up. I can still afford Gross to a 4.5.

It's your decision, I don't want to convince you, for it to all go wrong. 🙂

A or D for me depending on how many chips you have
I don't think you will be able to turn it into a decent team for gw 35 without multiple hits . Walcott , Shaq , Wilson and I am not over joyed with Mounie either all look like poor picks this week . I am probably going to take a - 4 for Mkhi for Walcott I really don't expect him to do anything . That could go either way

A, Mustafi rotation risk, Christensen may not get both games in the double. Stephens is at risk from Yoshida as well though to be fair. Each option carries a degree of risk.

37 BB is growing on me.

      DDG (Lloris)
      Alonso Valencia Maguire (Cedric Naughton)
      Salah Mahrez Son Gross (King)
      Kane* Vardy Ayew

*Kane would be Aubameyang now and Lukaku/Kane 34

Lloris (WBA, new) Naughton (bou, SOT) Cedric (eve, swa) King (bou, SOT)

As opposed to the likes of Ryan (cpl, TOT) and Lowton (LEI, CHE) with a United CB and BUR/BRI attacker that may just play once anyway in 34

The money saved from those cheap Swans attackers would fund the secure and attacking Maguire and Valencia.

Downside is no TC in 37 (pretty big downside) and a long way to go until 37. I guess I have to weigh up whether Valencia and Maguire over Smalling and Morgan with a better bench is worth ruling out a TC in 37 for. What do you reckon?

True. Good thing with that set up is Kane would be in for free by 34 or 36 with a FT or two to spare in 37. e.g Son and/or Salah > City and/or Ars Mid

The way I see it, he's going to haul at some point, probably more than once. He's also the type of player that could come on for 20 minutes and bag a goal. I've been really down on Son for WCs - too many away games coupled with rubbish away stats - but with so many decent fixtures before the end I'm reluctantly having him as a fire-and-forget. He's also at the *perfect* price point, which is annoying for those of us on the fence.

Yeah I get that but the bench feels so weak in 34. Could just go for a strong XI in 34 and a better bench. Doubt I’ll do it tbh but just so uncomfortable with the players that will be boosted BB in 34

Agreed with that. But a lot of unknowns/risks to wait till 37 to field 15 players who will okay twice. It could be a possibility that not more than 10-11 dgw players are needed that week.

Just feel that Kane will end the season on a good note. Nostalgia pick from last season you can say.

Yep. Just feels the Swans players allow for more expensive players elsewhere that will play twice. As I’m typing this though I realise that it sounds Stupid as King would be a doubt, so kinda going off it by the minute 😀

BB 37 here. Gonna have to throw the TC on Lukaku, Salah or Mahrez before then.

The TC 34 is a big turn off for me tbh. Think Salah 38 is more appealing.

I've thought about it but I don't think there's much to be gained from Brighton/Burnley vs Swansea/Southampton bench players to be honest. I'd rather play it in 34 now my WC is active. WCing those potential assets from Swansea etc in now is a gamble.

This is it. If Kings’s dropped the BB is a man down with no money in the bank. Plus carrying Ayew for 2 weeks now whilst banned isn’t good.

Both option costs same. Which one do you prefer?

                    A) Ryan Smalling Robertson.

                    B) DDG Dunk Morgan.

Yes, but be careful if you have DDG & Bailly/Smalling, you may need Lukaku in 34

NOt sure which is the better option -

Capping 34? Almost certainly but obviously the extra points are valued in a different way once you go up the food chain

No I see Vardy and Leicester and potentially more free scoring. Better value chance of big hauls. If you can spend the money wisely elsewhere to improve big than Vardy I think will have better points per million

Costs 5.0, 2 goals & 2 assists in the last 5 games, no blanks and a double in 37. Yet I don't think I've seen his name mentioned anywhere...

Yeah, he was a star in my pre-dgw-announcement thoughts. But it's a decent point - if, for example, Gudmun is properly injured when I intend to get him in before GW34, then from that point he's a decent shout. Could play him for EVE bou SOT STO.
