The Community Round-up: Richarlison and Liverpool’s fixtures

The Fantasy Football Scout Community have been busy at work again this week, producing the usual excellent array of articles and tables to help with our planning for Gameweek 4.

The hot topics, meanwhile, have ranged from short-term absentees to Liverpool assets and everything in between.

Our latest Community Round-up feature has it all covered.

The Hottest Topics

Celt Abroad kicked off the Gameweek 3 reaction with a look at the possible replacements for Richarlison, who was sent off in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

With Richarlison in mind, Gregor asked if we should sell or keep our short-term absentees and looked at the new suspension rules.

Our regular “Rough with the Smooth” thread turned up the usual success stories and horror tales, while flaming_iles discussed his own excellent start using the RMT tool.

DortmundisLove revealed the past statistics that don’t bode well for defence-heavy teams, meanwhile.

The discussion about Liverpool assets continued, with Rainer looking at the Reds’ fixtures in between the two international breaks.

Legomane floated his method of combating the impact of price falls, while RedLightning examined the overall FPL leader’s early chip usage.

The Gameweek 4 planning started with tambourineman‘s round-up of the weekend’s referees, before G-Whizz gave his weekly clean sheet probabilities, match odds and “Doosra stats”.  We also speculated on the breakout players of this coming Saturday/Sunday.

Jekori highlighted the excellent Fulham/West Ham rotation, while Reckoner looked at the best £4.5m midfielders. On the subject of budget assets: what do we do with blister victim Danny Ings?

Concerning the site itself, Benster gave some frank comments on the Scoutcast while we had a live Hall of Fame update for the first time this season.

Finally, there was a fond farewell to Niemi as a mod – but a warm welcome to Rotation’s Alter Ego.

Community Tables

Among the many, many fine tables created this week were the following efforts:

beans_on_toast

sun_jihai

drewshape

Keep your tables coming in for inclusion in our weekly round-up, with a title and description always appreciated to explain the purpose of the statistical analysis.

Community Articles

There were more super scribblings from the Community this week.

Hutch_James provided another excellent Wisdom of the Crowd, FPL Paulius looked at Gameweek 4 captains and Greyhead examined the fortunes of some elite FPL managers.

Community Tournaments

RedLightning continued his impressive start to the season to consolidate his lead at the top of the FFS Mods and Cons league. Chris James crept above TorresMagic into second, meanwhile.

1. RedLightning – 270 points
2. Chris James – 252 points
3. TorresMagic – 238 points
4. Ragabolly – 232 points
5. Geoff – 229 points

Scott Macalister is the new leader of our public FantasyFootballScout league – and has done it all without using a chip. Scott is actually tied with Cosmin Rotaru and Warren Lim (who are joint-second) but has made fewer transfers.

1. Scott Macalister – 277 points
2=. Warren Lim – 277 points
2=. Cosmin Rotaru – 277 points
4. Jasem Alturki – 276 points
5. Andy Parsons – 274 points

Nick Howard still leads the FFS Members league. Having played his Bench Boost chip in Gameweek 1, he followed that up with a Wildcard in Gameweek 2 and is now ranked 28th in the world. Our very own moderator RedLightning is also up to third.

1. Nick Howard – 281 points
2. Ryan Brazell – 271 points
3. RedLightning – 270 points
4. Graeme Bye – 269 points
5. Luke Pickering – 268 points

Meanwhile, Andrew Garland is the new leader of RedLightning‘s Top 10k Any Season mini-league, three points ahead of the league’s creator. Pete Bullingham and Francisco Lamarque are actually tied in third.

1. Andrew Garland – 273 points
2. RedLightning – 270 points
3=. Pete Bullingham – 266 points
3=. Francisco Lamarque – 266 points
5. Luke Aiello – 259 points

    In a tricky situation, I have Richarlison in my team and no Kun...what do I prioritise? Getting Kun in for a hit or Richarlison out ? Can’t get Kun in without a hit

    Will Jimenez be the next bandwagon. He'll run & press the poor West Ham defense & they are bound to make a mistake sooner or later & he'll pounce. He did score v Man City but was half a yard offside. If he had of timed his run better he probably would of already been a wagon this week.

    Just seen some of Moura's underlying stats this season:
    - 1 chance created
    - No crosses
    - Average 28 passes a game

    He always looked threatening against man utd but im not sure his constant runs can counteract that because he won't score every game. He's in my team tho...

    Fabianski (Foster)
    Mendy - Robertson - AWB (Smith - Peltier)
    Salah - Mendy - Mkhitarian - Stephens (Richarlison)
    Aguero (c) - Arnie - King

    1.2banked and 1 FT.

    A. Richarlison --> Walcott/ Pedro
    B. Richarlison & Mane --> Walcott & Hazard (-4)
    C. Richarlison & Peltier --> Neves/Kante & Alonso (-4)
    D. Richarlison & Smith --> Fraser/Gundogan & Alonso (-4

        Auba left, Laca central, Mkhi right and Ramsey number 10. Mkhi could also play 10 though with Ozil on the right, and Ramsey holding mid. It’s anyones guess really

        I'm going against the group think & playing Shaw & Jimenez over WB & Wilson. With Tomkins out (not confirmed) imo it's makes a Palace cs less likely & granted Wilson could score but at the most probably only the 1 goal whereas Jimenez could match or exceed 1 goal. I'm playing Shaw because I think MU will get a cs & the defense will stand up.

        Mendy Bellerin Alonso AWB (Bennet)
        Mane Hazard Fraser Mkhi (Pereyra)

        I’ve decided im going AWB over Ings, even if soton were to score it may not be ings whereas if they dont awb gets a cleanie, plus if he does start he will most likely get hooked at 60 mins, and Awb has decent assist potential by the looks of things. 🙂

            How does this look for a WC team? Any suggestions?

            Ederson Hamer
            Alonso Mendy Robertson Wan-Bisakka Bennett
            Salah Mkhitaryan Pedro Walcott Stephens
            Aguero Zaha Arnautovic

            Thanks!

              Instead of Salah and Pedro, I could do Hazard and Mane for 2 GWs and then switch but not sure if it's worth 2 FTs.

              looks good. but maybe just maybe you've got too many 6.0-7.0 players.

            Sorry if posted already, but some of Pep's quotes from today regarding Mahrez (who I still own, yikes) and a bit about formation for tomorrow:

            http://www.espn.com/soccer/english-premier-league/story/3618557/manchester-citys-pep-guardiola-says-riyad-mahrez-adopting-wellbut-needs-more-time

            From ESPN, Man city correspondent Jonathan Smith

            MANCHESTER -- Pep Guardiola admits it's difficult for new arrivals to adapt to playing for Manchester City after record-signing Riyad Mahrez started the last two games on the bench.

            The Algerian winger joined City from Leicester City in the summer for a club-record £60 million and started the Community Shield victory over Chelsea and the Premier League opener at Arsenal.

            But he has played just 31 minutes as a substitute in the last two matches although Guardiola insists the 27-year-old has settled quickly at the Etihad Stadium.

            "I would say [he is doing] quite, quite well, for how quickly he has adapted and especially for his quality," Guardiola told a news conference ahead of Saturday's clash with Newcastle United. "He's one of the most technical players I've ever seen [for] skills and everything.

            "It's just of course there's a lot of information -- the way we want to play, the way we want to do things, the corrections after the games that we have to do, in all things, defensive and offensive set-pieces. But he settled good. He has respect in the locker room and that is the most important thing."

            Guardiola is facing a tough tactical decision against Newcastle, who are likely to go with an ultra-defensive setup similar to the one they used in last Sunday's defeat to Chelsea. Rafa Benitez used a similar style against City last season despite losing both Premier League games.

            Against Huddersfield, Guardiola used an inventive setup with Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy as virtual wingers rather than wing-backs and a back-three that played a wide and high line. He reverted back to a back-four for last Saturday's draw with Wolves but is likely to switch again to a more attacking style against Newcastle.

            Asked if the way City beat Huddersfield was the most effective way to attack Newcastle, Guardiola said: "This kind of analysis I like to do after eight or 10 games. With 10 games played in the same formation, you can say 'okay, good, it works.' But it was just one game.

            "We thought in that position at Wolves, for the way they defend, the way they make an approach, the quick wingers they have, to do it a little bit different. It depends on many reasons.

            "Sometimes we rotated the team, for everybody to try to be involved. I don't know. I need more time. It really suits perfect the guys who played against Huddersfield."
