The Community Round-up: Richarlison and Liverpool’s fixtures

The Fantasy Football Scout Community have been busy at work again this week, producing the usual excellent array of articles and tables to help with our planning for Gameweek 4.

The hot topics, meanwhile, have ranged from short-term absentees to Liverpool assets and everything in between.

Our latest Community Round-up feature has it all covered.

The Hottest Topics

Celt Abroad kicked off the Gameweek 3 reaction with a look at the possible replacements for Richarlison, who was sent off in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

With Richarlison in mind, Gregor asked if we should sell or keep our short-term absentees and looked at the new suspension rules.

Our regular “Rough with the Smooth” thread turned up the usual success stories and horror tales, while flaming_iles discussed his own excellent start using the RMT tool.

DortmundisLove revealed the past statistics that don’t bode well for defence-heavy teams, meanwhile.

The discussion about Liverpool assets continued, with Rainer looking at the Reds’ fixtures in between the two international breaks.

Legomane floated his method of combating the impact of price falls, while RedLightning examined the overall FPL leader’s early chip usage.

The Gameweek 4 planning started with tambourineman‘s round-up of the weekend’s referees, before G-Whizz gave his weekly clean sheet probabilities, match odds and “Doosra stats”.  We also speculated on the breakout players of this coming Saturday/Sunday.

Jekori highlighted the excellent Fulham/West Ham rotation, while Reckoner looked at the best £4.5m midfielders. On the subject of budget assets: what do we do with blister victim Danny Ings?

Concerning the site itself, Benster gave some frank comments on the Scoutcast while we had a live Hall of Fame update for the first time this season.

Finally, there was a fond farewell to Niemi as a mod – but a warm welcome to Rotation’s Alter Ego.

Community Tables

Among the many, many fine tables created this week were the following efforts:

beans_on_toast

sun_jihai

drewshape

Keep your tables coming in for inclusion in our weekly round-up, with a title and description always appreciated to explain the purpose of the statistical analysis.

Community Articles

There were more super scribblings from the Community this week.

Hutch_James provided another excellent Wisdom of the Crowd, FPL Paulius looked at Gameweek 4 captains and Greyhead examined the fortunes of some elite FPL managers.

Community Tournaments

RedLightning continued his impressive start to the season to consolidate his lead at the top of the FFS Mods and Cons league. Chris James crept above TorresMagic into second, meanwhile.

1. RedLightning – 270 points
2. Chris James – 252 points
3. TorresMagic – 238 points
4. Ragabolly – 232 points
5. Geoff – 229 points

Scott Macalister is the new leader of our public FantasyFootballScout league – and has done it all without using a chip. Scott is actually tied with Cosmin Rotaru and Warren Lim (who are joint-second) but has made fewer transfers.

1. Scott Macalister – 277 points
2=. Warren Lim – 277 points
2=. Cosmin Rotaru – 277 points
4. Jasem Alturki – 276 points
5. Andy Parsons – 274 points

Nick Howard still leads the FFS Members league. Having played his Bench Boost chip in Gameweek 1, he followed that up with a Wildcard in Gameweek 2 and is now ranked 28th in the world. Our very own moderator RedLightning is also up to third.

1. Nick Howard – 281 points
2. Ryan Brazell – 271 points
3. RedLightning – 270 points
4. Graeme Bye – 269 points
5. Luke Pickering – 268 points

Meanwhile, Andrew Garland is the new leader of RedLightning‘s Top 10k Any Season mini-league, three points ahead of the league’s creator. Pete Bullingham and Francisco Lamarque are actually tied in third.

1. Andrew Garland – 273 points
2. RedLightning – 270 points
3=. Pete Bullingham – 266 points
3=. Francisco Lamarque – 266 points
5. Luke Aiello – 259 points

What about the not-so-long-ago year FPL treated us to Mahrez, Vardy and Payet for the price of Hendo, Fellaini and Welbeck

Don’t like to talk about that haha.

Was on Mahrez from the start, didn’t think he would keep it up and on my WC thought I was being clever and took him out thinking he had his time.

Then refused to get him back on my own stupid principle and he completely ruined me that season.

Haha I completely understand. I never owned Vardy at any point that season (even during his PL record-breaking run), because I still saw him as that non-league striker XD

    Trying to mix it up from the templates and taking a couple of punts. What do you reckon;

    Ryan (button)
    Alonso Mendy WanBiss (holebas Bennett)
    Haz Salah Maddison Milivojevic (Cairney)
    Aguero Tosun Mitrovic

There’s usually a reason players are in a template. Hard to catch the start of an upward curve.

I’ll be honest mate, really not feeling this team.

Milivojevic and Tosun I really cant back this season for some reason.

Maddison doesn’t seem as appealing without Vardy but granted it’s just 1 more game.

Mitrovic feels like chasing last weeks points, after this week his fixture swing goes south. But I see why people are on him.

Is this a wildcard team? If so downgrade Cairney to a 4.5

I think I’m maybe just bitter from the time he did well at.m Newcastle then I reluctantly got him and he got sent off.

He does look good thus far, maybe just me being stubborn.

    Play Neves or AWB ?
    Have Pva

    1. Lazarus Star
      • 10 Years
      5 years, 10 months ago

I’m playing AWB with Neves on the bench but don’t have PVA.

PVA and AWB you play more for attacking returns rather than clean sheets......so maybe play both.

          • 10 Years
          5 years, 10 months ago

From what I’ve seen I’d disagree.

Both PVA and AWB have 1 clean sheet and 1 assist. AWB has played 106 less minutes.

          1. Totalfootball
            • 7 Years
            5 years, 10 months ago

Thing is you are playing Fabianski , so makes sense to bench Neves , and also you have only 1 CP Defender i.e.. AWB
I don't have Fabs and have Pva ...

            1. Lazarus Star
              • 10 Years
              5 years, 10 months ago

But doesn’t make AWB less attacking.

To be fair I’d probably play Neves over playing AWB if I had PVA, but that’s gonna be the same as every week.

          2. F_Ivanovic

            5 years, 10 months ago

lol you can't judge him off 2 and a bit games... PVA has previous attacking merit from past seasons.

    2. Robbie Slater
      • 6 Years
      5 years, 10 months ago

I have the same dilemma (with no PVA though).

I was on AWB, but possibility of Kelly at CB instead of Tomkins makes Palace a lot more likely to concede for me. Saints have been unlucky not to score more the last two weeks as well.

I’m leaning towards Neves. Wolves should be high after last weeks performance vs City and West Ham don’t look great, especially defensively. Neves more likely to get an assist for me out of the two. Also shoots loads and in freekicks, and maybe some corners? Maybe even pens, although not sure on that.

Benítez knows what he's doing defensively, trust me. I would save it for Fulham next week if you want to use it on Kun vs a week team.

I'm going for it too. Usually wait for a DGW but I'm expecting Newcastle without Ritchie and Shelvey to be beyond awful. Newcastle are limping to the international break at the minute.

I'm really struggling to talk myself out of Bilva -> Pedro for a hit.

With Cairney out I have no bench if Bilva is rotated. WIth CL rotation coming up and Bilva already playing three different positions in three games (including wing back), Pedro feels like a huge upgrade. No CL rotation, pretty nailed due to characteristics, great fixtures. Pretty selfish player who likes to take shots.

    Is it a bad decision?

Tough one. As you say B Silva’s position rotation has backfired past 2 games.

But is Pedro worth a hit? God i don’t know 🙁

If he played as an advanced centre midfielder I would 100% keep. Tough to justify 7.5 on a midfielder wingback with rotation risk though.

Pedro really should have had one in the last game and if he had everyone would have been all over him this week. Most people tend to only look at the last GW points.

I'll go for it tomorrow morning I think. Thanks for your response.
