Crucial Champions League action has huge FPL implications

Tonight’s Champions League matches could have a huge impact on the Fantasy Premier League 2018/19 landscape.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, whose assets have been popular this season, are in action in the European competition.

Qualification to the knockout stages is on the line, with neither club assured of their fate.

Liverpool must beat Napoli to stand any chance of progressing, and may also have to rely on results elsewhere.

If Red Star Belgrade beat PSG then a victory of any sort will suffice, but if the French side are victorious then Liverpool must either win 1-0 or by two clear goals.

A one-goal margin of victory will not be enough if Napoli score.

Meanwhile, Spurs need to match Inter Milan’s result against PSV to secure passage to the next round.

That is not something to be assured of given that Mauricio Pochettino’s men are facing Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

At this stage, either one of Liverpool or Tottenham could end up in the Europa League or be eliminated from continental competitions altogether.

Either scenario would have a big impact on Fantasy. Europa League fixtures would mean a greater concentration of Sunday matches, especially pertinent for those playing the Sky Sports game.

Furthermore, either one of those clubs being knocked out altogether would potentially heighten the appeal of their Fantasy options with fewer fixtures to fulfil in 2019.

    Have Salah still in your squad? Keep him

    Sold him at some point recently (or never had him)? Don't scramble up the squad you presumably spent time considering carefully just to jam in one 13m player because he's scored a hattrick and may have started finding some form.

      Get him in if you don't have if you think he's a worthy option.

      Get rid of him if you don't think he's worth it for the time being.

      Simple. Don't really see much relevance in having him or not already (apart from use of transfers/hits).

                  I agree on the 2 City mids. Only Aguero as City attacking cover never felt enough for me once Mendy got reined in/crocked.

                  Cheers. All about Sterling for me also and if I wanted Sane or Haz then would need to play my WC involving Alonso and/or Kane - Auba. Holding WC is starting toannoy me. Its not that it can't be jigged up, its only that there are no certainties the new 15 will do any better than the existing 15. Holing for clarity and not too many points missed before Boxing Day.

      I'm keeping. As long as I have Sterling, Kane and Lacazette for a feeling of Arsenal coverage, I'm comfortable losing out on other options.

      And he's a nice money holder for the upcoming GWs. If any crisis occur, I can easily use him to get any given replacement for no more than a single hit.

        BSilva is the most nailed of all the city mids. Versatility and age is on his side. That is with all players fit. With DSilva injured and KDB not match fit he is a guaranteed starter. Only worry is his versatility eorks agaibst hom at times. He may play deeper as a result of the latest injury to DSilva.

          Depends on the ref and the context of the game. In other words, maybe. There must be a way to formalise the rules of the sport to reduce obscene levels of subjectivity. Maybe, also, it might be possible, that I, personally, have not entirely, thoroughly, or at all, read any part of the rules regarding this issue.
