Manchester United’s victory over Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup means that we finally have a complete picture for Blank Gameweek 31.
The five fixtures that will take place in that Gameweek are as follows:
Bournemouth v Newcastle United
Burnley v Leicester City
West Ham United v Huddersfield Town
Fulham v Liverpool
Everton v Chelsea
The meeting between the Toffees and Maurizio Sarri’s side is newly confirmed because of the Blues’ FA Cup exit and gives Fantasy bosses an extra two teams from which to draw their assets in Gameweek 31 (whether free-hitting or otherwise) – though both clubs are distinctly out of sorts at present.
The FA Cup quarter-final draw took place after full-time at Stamford Bridge and looks as follows:
Swansea v Manchester City
Watford v Crystal Palace
Wolves v Manchester United
Millwall v Brighton
That means we will get between two and four blanks in Gameweek 33 – one of which will definitely be Wolves’ match against Manchester United, as one of those clubs is guaranteed to progress to the FA Cup semi-finals on that same weekend.
In the worst-case scenario (or best-case, for those Fantasy managers hoping for as much carnage as possible), the following Gameweek 33 fixtures will have to be postponed to a later date:
Manchester City v Cardiff City
Newcastle United v Crystal Palace OR Watford v Fulham
Spurs v Brighton
Wolves v Manchester United
The Scout Notes for United’s 2-0 victory in west London will follow tomorrow, as will a look at potential chip strategies for the weeks ahead.
