FFS Cup

The FFS Cup final is all set for Gameweek 37

Our second FFS Cup competition of the season reaches its climax this weekend.

Our final will be a battle between two managers who lurk just outside the top 1,000 in Fantasy Premier League.

Rotation’s Alter Ego and LOKOMOTIV both prevailed in their respective semi-finals to set up a showdown between the pair in Gameweek 37.

Losing semi-finalists Skogen89 and Ibra-gum will now contest the third-place play-off this weekend.

Rotation’s Alter Ego broke the 100-point barrier for the second Gameweek in a row and for the third time in five Gameweeks.

He was one of three semi-finalists – including opponent Skogen89 – to use the Triple Captain chip on Sadio Mane, who returned 13 points in Liverpool’s 5-0 demolition of Huddersfield Town on Friday.

Skogen89 was unfortunate to be eliminated as his score of 87 would have been enough to win the other semi-final.

LOKOMOTIV ran out the winner in that last-four encounter, with opponent Ibra-gum the only manager not to have their Triple Captain chip intact and indeed handing the armband to Son Heung-min, who blanked against West Ham.

The semi-final results were as follows:

NameScoreRankNameScoreRank
Skogen898719320vsRotation’s Alter Ego1031280
Ibra-gum61147195vsLOKOMOTIV841859

As of the Gameweek 36 deadline, LOKOMOTIV and Rotation’s Alter Ego shared only six players: Hugo Lloris, Son Heung-min, Sadio Mane, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Raul Jimenez.

There is plenty of overlap in terms of team representation, though: LOKOMOTIV owns Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mathew Ryan, Yan Valery, Matt Doherty, Maya Yoshida and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg where Rotation’s Alter Ego has Andrew Robertson, Shane Duffy, Jan Bednarek, Willy Boly, Angus Gunn and Nathan Redmond.

Rotation’s Alter Ego’s main “differentials” are Wilfried Zaha, Diogo Jota and Aymeric Laporte, with LOKOMOTIV owning Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Sead Kolasinac.

Neither manager has made any transfers yet (at the time of writing), nor do they have any chips remaining.

Ibra-gum and Skogen89 shared nine players in Gameweek 36 and again, neither manager has any chips remaining heading into their third-place play-off.

    Hey guys,

Can’t find a clear cut way to use my FT these week - help appreciated!

    A) hold
    B) Son -> Pogba (feels iffy)
    C) Get Shaw in somehow
    D) JWP -> 4.0 to raise funds

    Ryan
    Robbo TAA Doherty
    Mane Son Sterling Jota
    Aguero Vardy Jimenez

(Foster - JWP Valery Duffy) 0itb!

Cheers mate. I guess it just feels a little defensive to not make a transfer approaching the very end of the season, but no need to make one just to make one!

8 points is too small a lead to be blocking IMO. Bring in Rashford if it's the best move you can make.

Chasing a rival who is 21 points ahead and will possibly captain (TC) Aguero this GW who I don't have. They also have Sterling but won't have Hazard, Pogba or Salah who I have. Should I:

    A) Captain Sterling (LEI) and let my differentials try and close the gap

    B) Captain Hazard (WAT) and hope he can individually smash the gap.

I am going with B, but i am chasing 38 points so its my best bet. at 21 i would maybe just TC sterling this week

        I don’t see how.
It’s a tactical game. Do what you have to to get to or stay at the top.
I’ve been dancing between differentials to my ML leader the past 6 weeks to close a gap.
I would fully expect him to try to protect his lead.

Yeah - i know. Just memories of my best mate wildcarding to pretty much my exact team when he was ahead of me with a few weeks to go. Still managed to pip him in the end.

Admittedly, if I do turnaround a 21 point lead this week my 38 moves will be blocking moves.

I’m not a Liverpool fan but I thought they were really unlucky to lose 3-0 last night. Better finishing from Mane / Salah and Barca were in trouble. Barca looked one dimensional, a shadow of their former greatness.

    1. RustyBz
      • 9 Years
      5 years, 6 months ago

A little bit strong on your Barca comments - Camp Nou is an absolute fortress for them, Messi is the best player of all time, Suarez & Alba are deadly going forwards and they have a much stronger defence than before.

3-0 is unlucky but at the same time you need to take your chances at this level and if Mané and Salah do that its 3-2 and Liverpool are favourites.

      1. HollywoodXI
        • 10 Years
        5 years, 6 months ago

Compared to Barca from a couple of years ago they are nowhere near as good. They’ve never replaced Xavi and Iniesta in midfield, they made the team tick and allowed Messi to be even more awesome. The only thing missing from Liverpool’s performance last night was clinical finishing.

    Laporte - Trent - Doherty

Ryan and Foster have a 11% chance of a CS. Which I can take.. but 5 defenders over 40% chance of a CS is painful when your goalkeepers are that bad.

Laporte TAA Doherty Matip and Kola

Any obvious changes you could see? Have TC to play at this stage and it's on Kun.

I’d switch out of double Liverpool defence and switch to Shaw and not Pogba.

Shaw has an equal chance of attacking assists as the Pool pair and great cs odds too. Cool differential pick and you retain return odds without double defence risk

You’ve got caught by switching out of Mane once already iirc!

Random thought, what is the intention of bonus points in FPL?

They generally just exaggerate the difference between the point scorers in any given match. So why don't they just increase points for goals/assists/clean sheets?

    1. Murder On Zidanesfloor
      • 6 Years
      5 years, 6 months ago

You already get points for all of those things. Bonus points use a range of statistics like key chances created, open play crosses, successful tackles, CBI, pass completion rate etc. So that you can get points from these stats in addition to the points you already receive.

    3. Murder On Zidanesfloor
      • 6 Years

They don't just exaggerate the difference between point scorers in any given match based on goals and assists. For eg, a Mo salah goal is likely to get you 7 points, (8 with CS). and a Hazard goal is likely to get you 10 points (11 with CS) because it takes into account the overall contribution as well.

      1. ItOnlyTook9Years
        • 9 Years
        5 years, 6 months ago

Obviously there are exceptions, but if they need a different way of scoring, goals and assists shouldn't count towards baps.

It is very rare for an otherwise non-point scorer to get any bonus

Currently sitting about 4 points outside top 10k.
I have one differential, Bilva, is it worth Mane or Son to Haz or should I play safe this week and save FT for final week?
