FPL Community Questions: Live Stream

We’re hosting another community questions video special this afternoon.

Joe and Neale will be on air on our YouTube channel from 12:30pm BST but you can also tune in via the embedded video below.

This will be converted into podcast format after the event.

As happened on Tuesday, we’ll be addressing some of the questions and issues raised in the Hot Topic and Tweet that we put out earlier in the week.

ritzyd asked about budget gems, so Joe and Neale will be delving into the best bench fodder options in each of the positions – if there are any, that is.

Kane Lane and I Member wondered if Chelsea assets – including Olivier Giroud – are being overlooked and that issue will also be tackled in today’s stream.

Joe and Neale also share their general thoughts on building a Gameweek 1 squad and any advice that may be useful.

We’ll be live again next Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime tackling more of the requests that were submitted on our site or on social media.

Keep your requests coming in for topics of debate in the meantime and we’ll get through as many as we can before the season begins.

Not a lot of love for Groß as a penalty and freekick taker in a team with no nailed striker. Will be a cheeky differential for the first few games I think.

Sheffield United's new signing from Preston, Callum Robinson, has come in as a 5.5 midfielder. Isn't he an out-and-out striker?

    1. HamezMace
      • 10 Years
      5 years, 3 months ago

Not out and out, more of an attacking midfielder, who has played as a striker.

Also they are about to sign Mousset from Bournemouth as another striking option.

Playing WC GW3 makes a lot of sense:

    -You can get Son in
-See who’s playing for Man Utd as they have a great run of fixtures after
    -Shift out Bournemouth
-Get in mendy if he’s going to be fit
-Leicester players in as hard fixtures done
-Gives you a chance to get bargain players in early who are starting (e.g Mendy, Gomez, Andone)

Therefore you may go heavy on Bournemouth. Palace, Arsenal and Liverpool also look good for this period

You may have to go about 30 GWs between wildcards. Between GW 3 and your second wildcard, there will be plenty of fixture/form shifts and players coming back from suspension/injury on a bigger scale than GW 3.

      Or
Keep a plan for Son now
      Keep Bournemouth
      Keep laporte/Ederson
      Get Leicester in now itself
Trust your pool, city, Bournemouth, Everton for their long fixture runs
Keep your WC and not worry every week about things going tits up with injuries when you make an early transfer since you'll want your 2nd WC around GW 32+ and we are basically starting with a WC now

Haha. I prefer taking punts, making early transfers, jumping on bandwagons etc knowing I have a WC to bail me out if things go wrong. Post a WC every bandwagon, early transfer etc is a huge risk.

    What do you we think?

    Pope
    Digne Coleman Roberston Zinc
    Fraser Salah Sterling Siggy
    Wilson King

    Button Greenwood Dendoncker Kelly

Team is mainly focused around the first 6/7 Weeks, as Everton and Bournemouth have some nice fixtures. Greenwood is a bit of a punt pick, but i read somewhere that Ole is thinking of playing him in GW1, so undecided if to put him in the line up or not.

This. Plus folk won't use FTs on a 4m keeper unless a 4m starting keeper emerges. And if that scenario happens that 4m keeper would be brought in when players are wildcarding.

I haven’t strayed too much from this draft for awhile now. Gomez is temporary until we know more after ore season/shield.
    Thoughts?

    Pope
    Zinchenko, Gomez, Cathcart

Not necessarily but it’s a safety net. I fully expect Zinchenko to be first choice for longer than gw1. Moura to Yarmo/Snodgrass gw2 and Origi to Haller/Jiminez/Giroud gw3 is what I’m thinking. Perfectly happy with Perez tbh.

Kelly's just signed for 13m, Adam Smith also started quite a few games at LB last season, so there are options. Thing is with Rico, he's obviously really struggling to adapt, quite a few transfer links - he's not a certain starter is he?

          1. Ask Yourself
            • 8 Years
            5 years, 3 months ago

Kelly is the next Mings, he was terrible for the Wngland U21s and turns up to training doing a wheelie in front of Howe he’s obviously not expecting much. With Clyne gone smith will be needed at RB, that leaves Rico by my logic. Obviously he isn’t a certain starter and the links away are disappearing, the video shows howe clearly likes him and I read an interview end of last season about how important he will be this year

We've just spent over 20m on Mings, go easy on him! Don't forget Jack Stacey has also signed, so Adam Smith isn't necessarily a certain starter at RB, it's all a bit up in the air at the moment.

Hahaha I mean that in the sense that he is far more suited to be a centre back. I rate mings highly was the championship’s VVD last year.
And I know but Stacey’s experience has all come in league 1. Using my logic I think it is most likely smith plays his natural RB spot and Rico would play LB, using what I know now of course. This can easily change I accept that x

Auba/Lacazette to be sold if they do sign Zaha

Auba to United looks the one but not sure they actually need him

He'd be nice but not sure either, surely Rashford wouldn't be too pleased.

Doubt they'll sign him, but if they do Lacazette up front, Zaha on right, Auba on the left.
That would be a pretty strong front three.

New price of £40m + £1 in the pipeline I believe. This should force the move....

Im on triple bournemouth atm (wilson, king & fraser) and definately feel the reward outweighs the risk.
If memory serves, they usually start well & then fall of a cliff around xmas.
I already have triple liverpool & they are the only other team with such a great fixture list over the first few months.
    Il wildcard if it backfires.
The only reason in posting this is in hope that someone has something positive to say about it... because since i started writing this the doubt is creeping in.

Andone is interesting, but I don't think I'd want to start him.

If he’s first choice as it seems as of now then he’s a good option.

Not for me, I used it earlyish last year after a terrible start, gonna build a bit of value and use it before the Christmas rush or around when Liverpool play the Club World Cup.

I’m going to go for B purely because I think two 4.5 fwds is too risky and don’t like it. Sterling and Vardy obviously very good options though. Imo Sterling and Salah is essential to begin with.

With Laca starting in the strong lineup vs Munich yesterday, suddenly have the urge to get him in for GW1 and 2. Think Arsenal could do really well vs Burnley and Newcastle.

Laca will then switched to Son for GW3, hopefully with 2 FT or for a hit. Formation will be 4-4-2.

    Kepa
    TAA VanDijk Zinchenko Coleman
    Salah Sterling Perez
    Lacazette Jota Adams

As long as Auba is in the line up he will always justify that extra 1.5m. I like the punt though but his stats are pretty cack, fixtures good though I agree. I like your team
