Barkley and Mount both start as Pulisic drops to the bench

The final fixture of Gameweek 1 takes place at 16:30 BST as Manchester United welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford.

There weren’t too many shocks upon the release of the teamsheets but perhaps the headline news was that both Mason Mount (£6.0m) and Ross Barkley (£6.0m) – rather than one or the other – start together in Frank Lampard’s first Premier League starting XI as Chelsea manager.

Christian Pulisic (£7.5m) is the man to make way, with the USA international dropping to the bench.

Pedro (£7.0m) completes the trio of attacking midfielders lining up behind lone striker Tammy Abraham (£7.0m).

N’Golo Kante (£5.0m) is only fit enough for a place on the bench, while Willian (£7.0m) and Antonio Rudiger (£6.0m) miss out.

Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (both £5.5m) are handed their competitive United debuts but Daniel James (£6.0m) is only a substitute.

Andreas Pereira (£5.0m) instead gets the nod and will line up in ‘the hole’, with Jesse Lingard (£6.5m) on the right flank and Marcus Rashford (£8.5m) stationed on the opposite wing.

An ‘out of position’ Anthony Martial (£7.5m) is reportedly set to lead the line.

Budget FPL forward Mason Greenwood (£4.5m) is on the bench, meanwhile.

Chelsea XI: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Zouma, Emerson, Kovacic, Jorginho, Mount, Barkley, Pedro, Abraham.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, McTominay, Pereira, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford, Martial.

No idea what to do with this squad now. Wildcard too knee-jerk? (talk me off the ledge)

    Pope
    Robbo, TAA, Zinchenko
    Salah(c), Sterling, Ayoze, Robinson
    Wilson, Wood, Jimenez
    Bench: Ryan; Dunk, Kelly, Dendoncker

You have Liverpool/City defence, a good gk, Salah, Sterling, Burnley just won 3-0, Jimenez and Wilson are good players.

      Easy.

Sure thing, mate. It does happen, but it's usually not good to read too much into one GW only.

Robbo/TAA/Zinchenko is a ridiculously expensive defense, I would never go for such an expensive defense to begin with but there's not much you can do at this stage.

Having Salah and Sterling is going to cost you even more, and you're paying for that in the quality of your attackers. You might want to consider saving the transfer and doing 2 next week, as I don't see any obvious changes without taking a hit.

you're talking down the basically template team. That def is normal, having both Salah and Sterling is normal. Link your team maybe?

In my head I know it's crazy. Already chasing in ML, though. Like I said, talk me off the ledge. Tough love appreciated. The premiums can't return every week, and surely United will not put up 4 each week.

With the keeper situation and the opportunity to use funds, you could lose a pool defender if you have 2. I might simply because the extra 1.5 enables a good King upgrade.

Finishing on 87 points. Not a bad week, thinking about saving up the transfer for next week as my team is looking decent.

I mean I don't agree at all with 5 defenders but sure.

Your defense is only as strong as your weakest defenders really. Having 5 good quality defenders is dangerous, there's only about 3-4 teams who'll be getting a strong number of clean sheets this season. I think a 3-4-3 or a 3-5-2 is the way to go. I almost always play a 3-4-3 as that's what's always got me into the top 1k.

With that being said, there are a lot of good quality, cheap midfielders this season, so a 3-5-2 could be a good idea, or even 4 defenders some gameweeks if there's good fixtures.

What’s a decent start to the season in terms of GW1 rank - top 1m?

Having right team structure and long term players is obv more important than early rank.

didnt watch it but a draw for Wolves is a good result imo and bad for Leicester. Leicester should be winning games like that if they really want to be fighting for a place in europe

Leicester lacked cutting edge, Jota's finishing woeful. Wolves better, Leicester need to drop Choud, get a more attacking mid in there.

Ndidi is a player and still very young.
Chouda only weak link but again he's a very young lad...I think.

    Pope
    Montoya - VVD - Zinchenco
Martial - De bruyne - Perez - Salah - Moura
    Auba - Wilson

    Option 1: Moura 》 Buendia?
    Option 2: Moura & Greenwood 》 Pukki & Mcginn/ 4.5 and save a mill to upgrade defence
    Option 3: Save transfers

Great preseason form, manager loves to rotate, best to give him start at home, in front 3 so very attacking and if does not start risk of losing form and fitness.
