How newly-promoted players performed in Gameweek 1

A number of newly-promoted players caught our attention in the opening weekend of Fantasy Premier League action.

Norwich City were thrashed 4-1 at Liverpool but still caused their illustrious hosts plenty of problems.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa proved a stiff test for Spurs on Saturday evening while Sheffield United were the first of last season’s promoted clubs to earn a point in 2019/20.

We’ve gone over the numbers to see which of their players could provide some value this season.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the 2019/20 campaign can access it in full.

    Wood to Pukki a no brainer with nothing else urgent to use my FT on?

      I had decided to save FT after considering the same transfer but looks like Wood will be 6.4 and Pukki 6.6 by Saturday so not sure anymore if I want to wait and lose that 0.2.

        He looked very good offensively as well, in fact seemed far more likely to create something compared to Perez in addition to the CS potential. Of course 1 GW isn't enough data, but fixtures favour Lundstram as well so I wouldn't say it's a very easy decision in Perez's favour.

    Just checking (and apologies if it’s been discussed many times) but is there a new element of the game where we are unable to see rivals number of transfers and price rise/fall in a given game week? I use to be able to determine who they were bringing in based off rises and falls after price changes.

    In a draft FPL game - where money/player price plays no role - which 3 of the following 5 available players would you get, and why?

    - Jota (the Villa one)
    - Hourihane (Villa)
    - Doucoure (Watford)
    - Stiepermann (Norwich)
    - Lo Celso (Spurs)

    18-team draft, so have to think very long term; not a lot of decent options available for waivera throughout the season!

              I think a lot of people are falling out of love with fantasy football anyway. I did quite like that draft site though. Better than FPL Draft.

                I do find myself in general I spend less time on it than in yester years mainly due to work/family commitments but I still have that nerdy addiction to play the various FF formats never the less 🙂

      Wow 18... Depends on if you have lots of rotation risk picks. Would say go for Douc because he's a guaranteed starter and proven to be decent. That said I know very little about Jota but heard he's good

        18 is a typo actually; it's 16. Still a lot, I know! But good fun with mates.

        For my other 12 players I only have 1 big rotation risk; the others will all start fairly regularly. Yeah Doucoure looks like the safe pick but also the lowest ceiling perhaps. Tempted by Lo Celso but don't know how regularly he'll start.

      I'm not convinced with the Zouma pick. Downgrade TAA ~> VVD and/or Digne ~> Coleman to upgrade Zouma to at least Stones. I'd probably use the other €0.5m to upgrade McGinn to Gundmudsson.
