Scoutcast Episode 323 – Reacting to the Double and Blank Gameweeks

This week is pivotal for Fantasy managers as they look to navigate their way through a tricky set of fixtures as the season nears its conclusion.

The midweek announcement of a Double Gameweek 29 for Manchester City and Arsenal is among the key developments that our Scoutcast trio of Joe, Pranil (Lateriser12) and Az discuss in this busy episode of the Scoutcast.

They are also keeping a close eye on how Blank Gameweek 31 is shaping up, with this latest episode broadcast on Tuesday during Liverpool’s defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup .

The deployment of chips will clearly be crucial in the Gameweeks ahead, so our trio look to cover as many permutations as they can.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of other topics to consider, including the ‘form versus fixtures’ debate that Southampton and Everton’s strikers are creating.

Teams and players who are highly motivated also come under scrutiny, with relegation and European places still up for grabs. In contrast, those already dreaming of their holidays are also debated in their chat.

The ‘Rough with the Smooth’ round-up of your Gameweek 28 scores focuses on how Leicester’s wavering form has been a hindrance for some and a blessing to others.

Az takes his turn to pick a differential, with a former favourite firmly in his sights.

Clean sheets get an airing and the Scoutcast crew round up proceedings with a look at their transfer and captaincy plans for Gameweek 29.

I have a fairly "template" team but just De Bruyne as a DGW player this week. Only realistic way of adding Aubameyang is to take at least a -8. Should have 7/8 players currently playing GW31. I have a Wildcard, Free hit and Bench boost. Two options I'm looking at are below. Should I...

    A) Take the hits for DGW29 with just a couple of DGW players, WC GW32, BB GW34, FH GW37
    B) WC for DGW29 with 4/5 DGW players (and prepare for GW31, no hits involved), FH GW34, BB GW37
    C) Something else? Please advise.

Appreciate any thoughts as I'm guessing many are having similar thought processes 🙂

Just ignore the DGW and prepare for 31
      Arsenal suck
West Ham are in decent form
No one particularly exciting/nailed for Man City outside of KDB

I'm a sucker for a DGW! It feels wrong to just ignore. Are people (not you exactly!) just saying things like "ignore it", "two players is enough" etc just because it's an inconvenient DGW to have. I can't help but feel if these two had a DGW in the larger DGWs of the season people would be getting 3/4 players. Arghhhhhh I don't know.

When would you all use your chips, I still have them all intact and have no idea when to use them.

Also what should I do with this team?
    Pope Button
    Trent VVD Soyuncu EStevens Williams
De Bruyne Salah Barnes Bruno Dendoncker
    Jiminez Vardy Ings

On WC, what would you change?

    Pope - McCarthy
    Robbo - TAA - Doherty - Taylor - Cathcart
    Salah - KdB - Sarr - Saka - (X 6.4m)
    Jota - Jimenez - Auba

    - Would give me KdB, Auba and Saka for double.
    - Already 10 players for BGW 31
    - Whos Mr. X, up to 6.4m or pick just cheap fodder?

    Pope
    Doherty TAA Egan lascelles Williams
    KDB Salah Bruno Barnes Saka
    Ings Jimenez Firmino

    1 ft, 1.8 itb

Early thoughts? Wc, fh, bb left

6 players for GW31 rn, with 3 transfers... Very tempted to do Firmino>Auba (c) this week anyway.

What chip strategy for this squad?

Evening all, 1 FT and 2m ITB. Which move looks best

    A Lund > Doherty
    B Vardy > Jota
    C Ings > Jota
    D Vardy & Lund > Auba & Saiss for a minus 4 hit

    Guaita
    TAA / Robbo / Webster
    Salah / KDB / Barnes / Traore
    Vardy / Jimi / Ings

    Button / Cantwell / Williams / Lund

    Schmeichel
    Taa Egan Fernandez
    Mane Traore Salah KDB
    DCL Aubameyang jota

    Subs
    Button Lascelles William's Cantwell

Is doing traore to sarr worth it for -4 considering I will likely be priced out after tomorro.

    McCarthy (Martin)
    TAA Doherty Alonso
    KDB(c) Bruno Mané Sarr
    Jimi Vardy Ings

    Barnes Ritchie Williams

Play Barnes (AVL) or Sarr (cry)?

Really trying to wrap my head around this one.
Is Auba a must for the upcoming DGW? I can fit him in without hit, taking out Jimenez for him. Still got my free hit and WC. Current rank 25k.

    Current team:
    Henderson
    Gomez, TAA, Boly, Soy
    KDB, Salah, Fernandes
    Jimenez, Ings, DCL

    Bench: Button, Grealish, Traore, Rico

Hold or make the switch? Thank you for any opinions.

    Ryan (buton)
    Taa soy boly (lund lascels)
    Kdb mane salah perez (saka)
    Dcl auba ings
    (-4)

    Which?
    A) take 2 or 3 -4's next 3 gws, gw31 have 8-9 players, postpone WC FH use

    B) WC now, 4 players dgw29 & with fts will have 11 players bgw31, no hits, use FH later
