Scoutcast Episode 348 – Spurs and Chelsea players gather support

Joe and Az are joined by Andy for this week’s Scoutcast as they look ahead to Gameweek 5.

Tottenham Hotspur assets are in fine scoring form and about to head into a strong run of fixtures, so it is no wonder that the community questions in this latest Scoutcast are focused on Jose Mourinho’s men. Are Son Heung-min (£9.1m) and Harry Kane (£10.6m) players we should be definitely bringing in? And are both feasible without disrupting the balance of Fantasy Premier League managers’ squads? These questions and more about Spurs are considered by our trio.

The best of Chelsea has arguably not been seen yet this campaign. But with Christian Pulisic (£8.3m) and Hakim Ziyech (£7.9m) set to return from injury and Southampton up next, the community is pondering the merits of early investment in the Blues.

Meanwhile, the current international break has already produced a number of scares, from positive COVID-19 tests to injuries. Amid the pandemic, the Scoutcasters consider whether FPL managers need to alter the way they play, to cope with late sudden withdrawals due to the illness that has shocked the world.

Joe also attempts to make amends with his disastrous Dele Alli (£7.6m) differential pick in Gameweek 1. Can his latest low-owned gem succeed?

There is news of Fantasy Football Scout’s UEFA Champions League coverage, the next four fixtures are frisked and our trio reveal their transfer and captaincy plans.

Rashford hasn't been the same since his injury last season. Doesn't try to beat a man anymore.

Exactly this. Get Grealish on for Rashford and target Christensen to get him sent off.

You mean Grealish on for Kane. When you are a man down, you need athletes, not players who wait for a penalty.

No chance. Kane has been far more productive than Rashford. There was a 5 minute period where Rashford got the ball 4 times and every time he gave it away. After that, whenever he got the ball he passed it sideways or back.

Holds up the ball and gets it out wide. Drops deep and spreads it to James and Rashford. He was poor with one chance, but far better than Rashford.

He's not the best striker in the world. But he is in the Top 10. You don't score 146 PL goals in 214 appearances if you are a crap striker.

I respect your opinion. He cannot and will never play for a top 2 team in the top 4 European leagues if he doesn't improve on his athleticism. He never goes past players. He always has to be set up or given a penalty. Great finisher but other attributes, meh!

It baffles me every time I see someone that doesn't appreciate what Harry Kane does. He's like a playmaker, target man, and poacher all in one.

I think Grealish should come on, but not for Kane.

Fair point. But he was isolated on the counter, so had no choice. The ability is definitely there but I think it's a confidence issue. I think he can attempt far more one-on-ones than he's been doing, he certainly used to.

Because there is no one better?

Dean Henderson and Nick Pope? Maybe, but untested in non-defensive teams who don't park the bus.

Don't tell me Butland is better. You don't concede the own goal he did vs Leicester if you are a good GK.

Ramsdale? You got to be kidding me. English Kepa.

    1. ilikewud

PVA is back (not sure if he will start or is match fit) Davis has Reguilon ahead of him.

      1. evilfish
        • 8 Years

Thanks, would you advise benching both then? I wouldn't want them coming on for a point.

        1. ilikewud
          • 4 Years
          4 years, 27 days ago

I think Mitchell will start and play as PVA has just returned. Davis is risky.

    2. Piggs Boson
      • 13 Years
      4 years, 28 days ago

If Schlupp is out, there's a chance PVA plays LM, with Mitchell retaining his spot at LB. But given that he gave away a penalty last game, I think his time might be up soon.

I think Davies will lose his spot to Reguilón. There's a chance Davies is used tactically, in games where a more defensive LB is needed. But I think you should look to get rid regardless.

      1. evilfish
        • 8 Years

Thanks, I'm definitely looking to get rid. I had other fires to deal with and am already on a -4. Just wondering whether to risk starting him this week.

I think Mitchell will be fine for this week.

Its really tough to call this week. depending on your risk appetite, you could justify several C choices.
Personally, I own Salah but i'm not captaining this week (don't own Son or Vardy).
I think Vardy could be a good alternative

I'm probably captaining Son over Salah. Who knows what'll happen in the derby. Everton have been defensively sound.
