White absent as Lukaku starts for Chelsea

Sunday’s Premier League action continues at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal host Chelsea.

Romelu Lukaku (£11.5m) comes into Gameweek 2 with a significant level of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) interest.

The Belgian starts up top for Thomas Tuchel’s side, and will be supported by Mason Mount (£7.5m) and Kai Havertz (£8.4m) in the Blues 3-4-2-1 formation.

Elsewhere, Christian Pulisic (£8.0m) misses out after a positive Covid test, while N’Golo Kante (£5.0m) and Hakim Ziyech (£7.4m) are back on the bench after being injured in the UEFA Super Cup.

As for Arsenal, Ben White £4.5m) has been ruled out, as revealed by David Ornstein earlier today:

As a result, Mikel Arteta turns to Rob Holding (£4.4m), who joins Cedric Soares (£4.5m), Pablo Mari (£4.5m) and Kieran Tierney (£5.0m) at the back.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£9.9m), who has recovered from Covid, and new signing Aaron Ramsdale (£4.5m) are on the bench.

Martin Odegaard (£5.5m) has joined permanently from Real Madrid, however this game comes too soon for him.

GAMEWEEK 2 LINE-UPS

Arsenal XI: Leno, Cedric, Holding, Mari, Tierney, Lokonga, Xhaka, Saka, Smith Rowe, Pepe, Martinelli

Subs: Ramsdale, Chambers, Kolasinac, Tavares, Maitland-Niles, Elneny, Nelson, Balogun, Aubameyang

Chelsea XI: Mendy, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso, Mount, Havertz, Lukaku

Subs: Kepa, Chilwell, Chalobah, Thiago Silva, Zouma, Kante, Hudson-Odoi, Ziyech, Werner

Kane was on the bench this week, while Fernandes started!

Yeah I like the way DCL is carrying himself and Rafa's tactics play to his strengths...Doucoure will be first sub, considered going super cheap to Gilmour but I want two good subs as I've a few punts in my team that could miss out a game here and there

    I'm a bit confused.

Have 2 FT and not quite sure where to use the m...

Sanchez / Foster (Happy with these for the moment)

TAA / Shaw / Coufal / Amartey / Veltman (could do Veltman to that Southampton chap)

Salah / Bruno / Jota / Raph / Brownhill (ugh... Jota to Greenwood maybe? Brownhill to Bissouma?)

Antonio / Ings / Toney (I think Toney needs to go. Maybe Dennis to free up funds?)

    Any thoughts would be welcomed...

    Cheers.

Toney out and Brownhill to one of the 6-7m mids I reckon. Or Jota to Greenwood if you want to give Toney one more week.

Sadly, I think Toney > Dennis will only give me 5.9 so I'd need to go with bench fodder. Considering the Jota move, though. Cheers!

GTG? (Early I know, but I want to commit to a plan now as I'm going to have a busy week with no time for FPL)

    Sanchez (Bachman)
    TAA Shaw Coufal (Duffy Tsimikas)
    Salah Mahrez Barnes Greenwood Raph
    Ings(c) Antonio (Toney)

    1FT 0.5itb

Aside from Havertz & the last 3 defenders those players have good fixtures next week.

With Liverpool playing Chelsea perhaps you should hold off WC to after IB

You could take out White for Dier, Liv or Duffy & move Havertz on for Greenwood or save this transfer for GW4

Should give you a good team for GW3

The thing with Lukaku is you can't really cover him with a cheaper option from Chelsea, right? To some extent Jota and Greenwood are looking like they can cover some of Liverpools and ManUtd points.

Mount potentially, he's creating so many chances. He just needs to get into more scoring opportunities and he'd be gold (he had a few today)

        3-4-3
will probably downgrade coufal to Livramento
Wilson to become DCL & downgrade Mahrez & Barnes to upgrade Obafemi

Graham,Roy and Sol making a great point about how the English game has gone a bit soft and is losing it's character.

aren't the refs letting more go this season?

yeah the behaviour of the players is all down to the refs, hopefully the keep allowing more contact

Anyone keeping White or using FT to move him?

Already lost 0.1 on Gundo so probably should avoid another drop in the team.

I’m keeping him, Arsenal have a lovely run after Man City. Waste of using a FT to get rid of a 4.5 that should be nailed when fit.

How many players u got in the game tomorrow? I dont have fancy stats to hand but I think this fixture can be high scoring and often averages 3 goals at least , something like that.
    2-2 I think

theres no way we all typed Lukaka in the previous 5 seasons or whatever, we always shorten everyones name. Everyone called him Kaku, we didnt call him Luka. Donkey was the most popular name tho

Evening all....really happy with my start...160 points so far.....2fts and no idea what to do now.....

Salah and toney to son and dcl is an option in confirmation salah to miss gw4 (which I personally doubt) - plus son seems to be a slight injury doubt.....lukaku can wait till gw7....

Apart from that all i see is tsimikas to Livramento and save 2fts for after the break......advice would be appreciated! Thanks

    Sanchez
    Taa shaw ayling white tsimikas

Almost similar team bar white and barnes.

For now i am keeping an eye on the price drop situations of toney and shaw. Will decide accordingly.

Nice to see a sensible post of being happy on a good score rather than lamenting...solid team for me to save, see how Barnes looks tomorrow before deciding

        Thanks guys....

Want to keep barnes as he has Norwich gw3

White I think can just sit on my bench for a while in the hope arsenal improve!!!

I'd really like to have 2fts for gw4 and maybe take a hit then ( dcl defo on the menu....)

I guess it's waiting and see if any salah news for now!!

I've bit the bullet and done Toney & Pepe to DCL & Doucore but could've easily waited another week as Pepe would be rotting on my bench regardless...feels good to get it out of the way though and I've no more decisions to make pre GW3 deadline...well apart from that dreaded armband that is 🙂
