FPL team reveal: Who I’m replacing Ilkay Gundogan with for Gameweek 6

After five Gameweeks of the 2021/22 campaign, I’m sat with a fairly uninspiring Fantasy Premier League (FPL) rank of 633,801.

Having been positioned around 300k in Gameweek 3, it’s been a challenging couple of weeks for my team.

However, with margins fine (see below) and many FPL managers deploying chips in the opening weeks, focusing on rank at this stage of the season probably isn’t worth it.

Live totals needed for ranks, via Ragabolly’s excellent LiveFPL website

So, ahead of Gameweek 6, here is how I’m currently set-up, armed with one free transfer and £0.9m in the bank.

With a Wildcard pencilled in for Gameweek 8, any moves I make will at most be two-week plays.

That also came into my thinking last week, with an idea to use the ‘Gundogan’ spot as a rotating position that I could have some fun with, focusing on short-term punts before I Wildcard.

That didn’t exactly go to plan in Gameweek 5, as Ilkay Gundogan (£7.3m) and Manchester City underwhelmed, but it’s something I’m going to continue with this week, as the rest of my team looks ‘okay’, providing Raphinha (£6.5m) is fit of course.

So, with a budget of £8.2m, who is on the Watchlist?

Digne has to go for sure but not sure it's worth removing him before Norwich? Would rather bringing him in next week for a Chelsea defender (will need to downgrade someone else to afford)

Squad is good for this week, so depending on when you intend to wc, you have a luxury, punt or build transfer. What's the strategy for wc? That should make your decision-making simpler.

I guess what lured you in is the amount of shots he had against Leicester which hinted he was back to his purple patch of last season. Which is fair, but that was with KDB out and we knew KDB was close to a return for the southampton game. Thats what put me off Gundogan anyway.

Either way, not too much harm done and onto the next one! Best of luck.

The way city attacking assets keep on reeling people in is bananas

It was Mahrez who was Pep’s main man in the eyes of the masses GW1 (he’s rested and had a preseason!)

Then Torres after his GW3 haul (he’s a 7.0 playing up front for Man City!!)

Now Foden (he looked so good against Wycombe!!!)

Next week it’ll be KDB, week after it’ll be Grealish, week after it’ll be back to Mahrez again, then Gundo, then Sterling for a while, then Jesus…

A bit suprised at Tom for getting involved in the lottery to be honest as he always struck me as a more sensible manager - but I remember him saying in the past he always liked to have one midfield slot on which he takes a punt, chasing form/fixtures etc

That's it maximus, it was a one-week punt, and I felt pretty certain he'd start.

I got that bit right, at least, just not the points part!

Fair enough yeah I getcha... Gundo can smash when he gets the right role

What Pep is doing to the FPL potential of the attacking side of that team is an absolute travesty though if you ask me

The amount of points we could be harvesting week in week out if he just wasn't such a rotational maniac

Hopefully an injury bottleneck of some sort arises soon to narrow someone down as an extended starter by process of elimination/force his hand

I was only think this the other day.

De Bruyne 'could' come into play once fully fit, but even then, he's going to be hard to accommodate with Salah, Ronaldo and Lukaku around.

Salah. He is not only the best FPL asset, but one of the best players on the planet right now. Brentford were not a good defensive team in the championship so don’t fall for that illusion. Salah goal = 8.. CR7 goal = 6. I know which I rather

Historically Salah has tended to need more than one attacking contribution to get 3 bonus. It's very rare he does it with one - the Chelsea game this season was an outlier.

    Hello All

Planning GW8 Wildcard with 1FT left this week £1.2 mil in the bank

    Foster (Sanchez)
TAA - Shaw - Digne - Veltman (Amarty)
Mane - Salah - Raphinha - Sarr (Gilmour)
    Pukki - Antonio (Bamford)

I can't decide to roll transfer for next week as I am concerned with Digne vs Man U & having both LVL premiums vs Man C.

    A) Roll transfer
    B) Gilmour - Townsend/Gray
    C) Bamford - Dennis/King

If A, what can I use transfers for next week?

To be fair, your opinion isn't wrong as much as mine isn't right. It's just an opinion in the end.

I just think he'll merit a mention when he returns something in the league in a couple of games, so far he (and throughtout pre-season) he's looked lost so he wouldn't be someone worth rushing to bring into a team.

Bowen, Sarr are lovely shouts, as are Gallagher, Doucoure. Aside from that, there isn't much.

      • 14 Years

Barnes is a player who out of nowhere will score a brace at the weekend and start a mass panic

He's unbelievable talent, and Rodgers seems to have set out his stall that no matter what Barnes does, he'll still start

I'd say that's because Rodgers knows exactly what he's capable of tbf - he'll be into my team in a heartbeat if & when he clicks again

My frustration is that he seems to struggle to fit him & Nacho into the same team, they should both be FPL darlings at those prices

By that logic, because a manager sticks by a player they ought to be picked? I can think of numerous bad examples in the history of football where those players wouldn't be anywhere near my team.

No not at all, You (or anyone else) don't have to pick Barnes

I'm saying that in my opinion he is a fantastic talent, and very likely will be a fantastic FPL option again sooner rather than later because of that talent
