Gameweek 3 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) continues on Sunday with Leeds United v Chelsea and West Ham United v Brighton and Hove Albion.

Both matches kick-off at 14:00 BST.

Thomas Tuchel makes one change from last weeks 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, as Conor Gallagher comes into midfield for N’Golo Kante, who misses out as expected with a hamstring injury.

That suggests Reece James will once again feature as a right-sided centre-back, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Marc Cucurella preferred in the wing-back roles.

For the hosts, they also make one enforced change, as Patrick Bamford fails to make the starting XI after coming off injured in Gameweek 2.

Daniel James starts instead, with Rodrigo – the second-most bought player for Gameweek 3 – pushed forward in attack.

At the London Stadium, Thilo Kehrer makes his Premier League debut for West Ham with Ben Johnson dropping to the bench.

“He has good experience, is versatile and has played at a high level with Germany and PSG so he will bring a lot to us and we’re looking forward to working with him. He’s played predominately for the national team at left-back and centre-back for PSG last season, so we feel we have a really good acquisition for the squad. He will be able to add to us in a number of areas.” – West Ham assistant manager Billy McKinlay on Thilo Kehrer

The visitors, meanwhile, are unchanged after making an unbeaten start to the season, with Pascal Gross and Adam Lallana tucking in behind Danny Welbeck in Graham Potter’s 3-4-2-1 formation.

As a Mount owner I'm a bit worried Mount might play alongside Jorginho with Gallagher more advanced.

Tuchel must really not have faith in his CBs if he keeps wasting RJ at the back like this.

Is it wasting him if he's really good in that position, though?

If he can perform better elsewhere, yes in my opinion.

I think you’re thinking too much about the game in FPL terms. He’s not wasted there at all from a football perspective. They have enough other attacking outlets and he offers a lot of defensive stability there.

No, I genuinely believe he's their best attacking player and creates a lot of Chelsea's chances (such as what Trent and Robbo do for Liverpool) so putting him at RCB restricts this Chelsea team that, frankly, already struggles for goals (~20 goals off of Liverpool & City last year).

I've been making 'a valid point' about Tuchel's tactics, but some of you prefer to be ignorant of that. You do you, if you don't want to understand tactics, why should I care?

How many full 90 matches do u reckon you've played irl, where have you learned your tactical skills from

I'm not talking about his tactics. I'm talking about his lack of faith in his other CBs. Imagine playing two players out of position instead of playing a CB in a CB position and a full/wing back in a full/wing back position.

    3. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 5 Years

Not sure it's that straightforward. Leeds have a fair bit of pace with Harrison, James and Aaronson there, Silva and Koulibaly have good acceleration but none of the normal CBs can match James for pace

      1. Yes Ndidi
        • 6 Years

TBH, as a Leeds fan, I'd be tempted to not even match James for pace, and dare him to actually score for a change.

      2. Zenith UK
        • 9 Years

I get that they do have pace, but imagine the message it sends to players like Chalobah, Ampadu that he'd rather play two players out of position than them, so back to my original point, he must not have a lot of faith in his CBs

        1. MrZ
          • 11 Years
          3 years, 3 months ago

Chalobah isn't trusted by TT for now.
          Ampadu is CB not RCB.
Plus RLC is good at RWB

No I mean literally wasting his attacking threat and potential that Chelsea need. Imagine constantly playing a non-CB in a CB role. Clearly sends a message to actual CBs at the club.

            Exactly! LOL.

I did actually say the other day, given Liverpool's lack of creativity from midfield I'd be quite interested to see them go to a 5 at the back.

            Alisson
            Trent, Gomez, VVD, Matip, Robbo
            Thiago, Fabinho
            Salah, Darwin, Diaz

            Could be lethal

I've been thinking the same thing for years. And all because trent can't defend or win headers, but he's our main attacking threat.
Same as Reece James being Chelseas biggest attacking threat. Andylet's , has obviously never played the game and is talking through his hole

FWIW, i think James will play RWB, (or still is with RLC playing), and when Chilwell is fully fit, Cucurella will play LCB. I think Fofana is to let Silva play in CL), is my prediction. Happy to own him

I really need to find a way to upgrade Son > KDB. What's the best way?

    A) TAA > Robbo
    B) James > Perisic
    C) Sanchez > Iverson (Ward every week...)

I don't see any other reasonable line.

    Sanchez Ward
    TAA James Cucurella Walker Neco
    Salah Son Martinelli Andreas Lavia
    Haaland Jesus Plange

No thanks. Just bought Cucurella. Not a downgrade I'm considering. Saliba won't score very often.

The alternative is to not go KdB. Son + Lavia > Diaz + Kulusevski. Very reasonable line. But also very template.

Yes, well he was and he wasn't. Off the ball, RCB to neutralize Son. On the ball, RLC inverted, leaving James to go to wingback, from where he scored. Honestly, I'd wish people would watch football before making such simplistic judgements.

...and you're wrong in this case. Yes, Reece was on the right of a back 4 in possession / RCB out of possession. But he swapped to WB just before he scored. If you're going to condescend, at least be right 😉

Why I have to sell him now? Why I don't watch the game?

Why bother watching the game? You've already judged Tuchel's tactics as 'criminal' without having the slightest understanding of what they are. I do watch the games, which is why I know your comments are so ridiculous as to warrant such sarcasm.

You better watch the game again. He played in 6 when attacking, not defending.

Can you say TAA is a forward then?

James will only be CB when out of possession. When Chelsea are in possession (>60%) he’ll be advanced much further

But his avg position is still lower on the pitch when rcb compared to rwb, that's bound to be obvious

James still essential if he’s a RCB? And Cucurella in danger of rotation….. I want more Chelsea defence than Mendy but have cold feet

James was playing RCB and could have got a couple of assists to go with his goal. The man is an FPL points machine when fit.

Curious to see how Gallagher copes in a game like this. Should be a game that will suit him against a team that will want to attack Chelsea and that will leave space in behind but he never got on the ball very much at Palace so playing for a side that tends to dominate the ball the way Chelsea do will be a big change for him. Great for covering ground and pressing and breaking towards the opposition box but he'll need to make himself available on the ball a lot more and improve his fairly poor passing metrics

His role will be very interesting. He can do Kante's box-to-box role, but can he carry and does he have Kante's positional awareness? Will be very interesting, especially with the possibility of De Jong arriving.

They're a solid side on the ball, still can see Chelsea tearing them apart here though given the numbers they commit forward. Chelsea's profligacy as always is the issue though
