FFS Cup

The latest results and draws for the FFS Cups

The final of both our FFS Open Cup and FFS Members Cup competitions will take place in Gameweek 25 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL), a round where four top-flight teams will not participate, which will really test the remaining managers.

A reminder that these are the old-school cups that we run via our own site, rather than the ones you may see in the ‘Cups’ tab on your FPL team page.

A total of £300-worth of prizes are on offer as usual in each tournament, with a full breakdown towards the bottom of this article.

FFS OPEN CUP

The full results from the semi-finals can be viewed here

After automatic substitutions were made, the final four had almost identical line-ups. In fact, both finalists had five-point semi-final victories that hinged on Martin Odegaard.

Victors Colombo Geezers and TwoTon Ted collected Odegaard’s eight points, whilst Spectrum and WEAK BECOME HEROS both surprisingly benched the Norwegian and had to make do with Kevin De Bruyne’s two points.

Using the FPL Team site, this is how the final looks before any transfers are made.

Colombo Geezers (on the left) has £4m in the bank and, having Wildcarded in Gameweek 22, can field ten men and use two free transfers.

TwoTon Ted, meanwhile, has £4.5m in the bank to spend and an almost-complete XI. He also opted to roll over the Gameweek 24 transfer, allowing him two free switches.

FFS MEMBERS CUP

The full results from the semi-finals can be viewed here

In the FFS Members Cup, both Mani10000g and Alcmckay had above-average weekends, such that the latter lost but still scored nine more points than finalist Whitty‘s 57.

Both decided to captain Marcus Rashford, with the only differences being Harry Kane over Ivan Toney and the autosub which gave Mani10000g Gabriel Martinelli’s cameo and stoppage-time goal.

Bruno Fernandes’ 12-point haul ensured Whitty overcame Lionac in the other semi.

Both finalists are currently set to field ten men in Gameweek 25 but Mani (on the left) has two free transfers, compared to Whitty’s one, as well as Martinelli’s double over Andreas Pereira at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

PRIZES

Overall Prizes
The prizes for both cups are as follows:

  • 1st Place: £150 Amazon voucher
  • 2nd Place: £100 Amazon voucher
  • 3rd Place: £50 Amazon voucher

HOW DO THE CUP COMPETITIONS WORK?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own cup games.

Entrants who qualify for the second round were randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a draw, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

FPLMarc Newcastle fan that spends far too much time thinking about FPL.

Better defender for the run in, under 4.3

    A) Mings
    B) Gomez

    Morning all!

Got really lucky last gameweek with rashford (c) and Bruno as differential in my ML but looking ahead I think next gameweek will suck for me..

    2FT's and 1.3 ITB

    Kepa, Ward
    Trippier*, Schar*, Gabriel, Shaw*, Bueno*
    Rash*, Bruno*, Mitoma, KdB, Odegard
    Eddie, Haaland, Mitro*

How much hits is affordable for damage controle or just use the ft's and hope for a low scoring gw?

      Bruno + KDB + Shaw => Salah + Saka + TAA -4

That would mean 4 Arsenal players so can't do that

How many points did you gain last week? Assuming your rivals captained Haaland that's +13, then Bruno over another mid could be +9, so maybe you're 22 up.

I think taking a -8 could be justified here as long as it's also helping to set you up for 26-28.

        • 9 Years

I'm currently only leading with 13 points so that -8 could be justified. Thanks for the insight!

No worries! It's what I try to do - if I make a gain somewhere, I try to work out what I can use it for ('spend it on' so to speak), without rinsing all of it!

I think what you earned last week gives you a bit more flexibility with your approach to the next 2-3 GWs.

Ideally, I would try to make changes that allow you to navigate 28 without the FH if you can - can you get to a mix of 7-8 ARS/CHE/NEW?

TAA and AR are great options. I like the idea of owning both, but I couldn't do it without -8 hit.

Whereas I can’t get to Salah and TAA/Robbo without a -8 but I can get TAA+Robbo for -4 , ideally would like Salah but think might have to go for fullbacks!

Would have to be Rashford - also why I’m not so keen,

Saka, Ode, Mitoma, Mahrez, Rash - my midfield

If I did Mitoma (who I want for 27) would have to lose Kane too and still not sure it would work

I actually transferred Kane out as spurs aren’t exactly firing at the moment. I think their recent score line flattered them. See how Pool play tonight. Maybe Kane to Darwin and Mahrez to Salah?

Yeah that’s not a bad option - will see what happens tonight

Think Kane and Mahrez out for 2 pool would leave me short on 11 players this week only problem

Is seven playing (including x3 Arsenal) enough? Williams' minutes aren't guaranteed.

Could do Williams>Tarkowski? Is it sensible to retain the FH if at all possible?

I'm thinking along the same lines as you but don't have Odegaard so will likely get him over Gakpo.

Anyone going without Salah? Would Gakpo and Darwin if fit be enough. Bringing in Salah would be difficult.
And not owning him nerve racking when LIV plays.

He'll get a few chances I imagine. You still have Havertz? Maybe not too late to hop on Eddie if you have an Arsenal spot free also?

Haha kudos for remembering, yes I still got him since thier double game week I never got a chance to offload him and now I may keep him for Leeds and Leicster games, only other options I see are Niketah (white switch), Watkins and Toney. Watkins has Everton next, and Toney also has Everton away in one of the ganes so taking a hit to get them especially when Chelsea got Leicster and Leeds in next 3 weeks sound not very optimal. What do you think?

I don't mind the White & Havertz - ? & Nketiah option if it works with your other transfer ideas (i.e. if you want another defender in). Otherwise maybe just see through the blank with Havertz & then reassess Toney/Iheanacho or any other options that emerge

I can probably do White, Bruno, Havertz to Tarkowski, Salah and Niketah (-4) and yet have enough funds in the bank to do Andreas to Mitoma next week, but I would have to start this week with Lewis who I do think has a good chance of starting at BOU.

I think so. I did see an article in the Liverpool local news saying he could be dropped, but think it was more their opinion that any inside info, and was before he put in a decent showing at the weekend. Should be safe for the double, at least

The thought of having no Pool players going into the weekend is a bit scary, but they’ve flattered to deceive this season, so it’s a gamble I’m going to take, plus I think people will be looking to ship them straight out week after. Palace away is always tough, as is any game against wolves. I’ve gone the other way, double wolves defence, a good differential if it pays off!

Yeah, always a possibility, Mo not really smashed it this season for whatever reason, palace and wolves tough nuts to crack. Like I say, I doubt people will want to keep 3 pool players going forward, I think there are better plans to make. Good luck to all anyway.

I think at this stage they have the exact same potential for a 2 or 3 pointer as well... clean sheets for example, last 2 were a miracle, vs NEW playing against 10 Xgc was over 2 goals...

Oh, I'm quite surprised you're so bullish on them JJ. I pretty much agree with OP - I know the ceiling is there for these guys, but I still think the chances of them hitting anywhere near that are quite slim. They've nabbed a few decent counter-attacking goals recently but still struggle to break teams like Palace/Wolves down. I can maybe see a Trent haul if they can ride their luck to another 2 xGC CS, so I may take one punt there, but I'm certainly not going all in.

Agree and only few games ago they got battered by the same Wolves team and without scoring, Wolves will only be more defensive at Anfield.

I would say the same 2 weeks ago. But 2 clean sheets in a row with VVD, Jota back + the kid playing in midfield + Gakpo & Nunez finally scoring makes it seem they found some form. 4th place is a realistic target & they've shown enough to warrant having at least 1 player for the double.

      According to Ben Crellin:

GW28 Blanks confirmed in the midweek before the GW26 deadline

DGW29 fixures probably announced after the GW26 deadline and before the GW28 deadline

GW32 Blanks confirmed 2 days after the GW28 deadline

        Great info, thanks Mr 69.
Trying to get my head around timings for setting up BB in 29 after having already just played WC. Looks like it will be not worth the effort.

I guess wildcarding just ahead of gw 28, possibly not even with a full 11 that week, will be a popular play for those with WC.

Interesting seeing suggestions/ posts stating if you plan to captain Saka then you can give Salah a miss and vice versa.

I'm in the mindset you need both to get the best captaincy/ highest EO options this GW. Of course it's team dependant but I thought it was interesting seeing these opinions.

I think it makes sense if you're working from the assumption that Salah isn't a great option beyond this GW, so if you're using up 2 FTs & not captaining maybe that upside starts to disintegrate relative to other options from GW26 onward. Although if anyone doesn't have Saka I think now is the time to redress that regardless of whether you own or plan to get Salah

Transfer decisions this week come down to:

    A) Salah, Tarkowski, Mykolenko
    B) Gakpo, TAA, Robertson

I also have Saka so still unsure whether I would captain Salah if I bring him in.
