Looks good but I think you can do better than Mings. I'd upgrade Bell so you have an alternative in Villa's tougher fixtures, downgrade Wissa to Nketiah or Pedro

someone put something up the other week about bell dropping in price and leaving you out of pocket for a bench player that wont play.

      so not him

was out on loan or sold cant remember, but with 16.5% ownership that would drop him

I know Villa finished the season strongly but I'd probably want a Villa player as my 4th defender, not 3rd.

Anything to suggest Joao Pedro starts vs Luton? On Brighton forum most (not many predictions overall) predicted Welbeck to start, although I'd say it's nothing more than a guess. Thoughts?

I think that will be a guess for a while.

Spend a club record on him and Ferguson hasn't had a good preseason so suggest he will start , Welbeck getting on a bit but still s quality player so think he will play too as a sub to keep front fresh

With Nkunku and Jesus out, I don't think it's worth spending more than 5.5 on a second forward. Jackson, Núñez and Álvarez are all good but all risky. Wissa is OK but Mbeumo is better.

    Leaning toward this, RMT?

    Onana // Aréola
Stones Gabriel Estupiñán // Colwill Baldock
    Salah Rashford Saka Mitoma Mbeumo
    Haaland Nketiah // Archer

Are you committed to 3-5-2 or can you be tempted to drop a midfielder? Some decent strikers this year, albeit punty, and I wouldn't lumber yourself with two non-playing forwards.

If you had to pick one to start with for GW1:

    a) Bernardo

    c) Grealish

B, because there are so few good forwards. Grealish has minutes but not enough goals/assists in him; Álvarez will do OK but minutes are a risk; Bernardo has neither

He was first choice, then he got injured. There was only one game, I believe, that Trossard started ahead of Nketiah while Nketiah was available.

yeah you're right, just checked and only actually Leicester away and Everton home

just remember owning Nketiah for Villa away then he was dropped and Martinelli went on a run

although you can still say the last time Nketiah and Trossard were competing Trossard was the one getting the start, even just for 2 games

Trossard has been Arsenal's best player in preseason so I doubt it but the Community Shield should give us a decent idea.

Same old story. 0.5 over. Where would you save 0.5 on this lot?
    Downgrade Watkins?

    Onana (Fodder)
    Gabriel Estupinian Stones Chilwell (fodder)

    Haaland Watkins (Fodder)

For me for the start of the season it goes in this order:
      Mbeumo
      Eze
      Mitoma
      Diaby

      Longer term it’s:
      Eze

It’s literally just that Luton at home game in GW1 that has everyone swayed. With their squad depth and points sharing I doubt the interest will last much longer after that

First 3 fixtures are begging for goals, should be plenty to go around. I’m not massively keen on him though, would rather have Enciso or Pedro if I knew they would play.

      2. Ahsieuwbb
        • 2 Years

I may be making a big mistake, but I’m on Bernardo Silva at 6.5. I just think without Mahrez and Gundogan he’ll get plenty of game time and plenty of points.
Most of my tinkering the past few days have involved two at 6.5, but haven’t got rid of Bernardo yet. Maybe he won’t play a minute of the community shield and I’ll change my mind…

        1. x.jim.x
          • 10 Years

Bernardo has never hit double-figures with goals, nor has he ever hit 15 G+A in a season. Brilliant player but not a FPL asset worth having.

Yeh I’m sure you’re right - just feel like he’s never had a spot nailed down. That’ll probably still be the case, but just got a feeling he’ll have a big year.

(Watch as he now gets a transfer/season ending injury)

I think Mudryk is a completely underrated asset among Chelsea attackers, and he comes at a cheaper price. He has that sting in him with high energy actions when on the ball, much more than for example Grealish who decides not to penetrate areas but keep it safe most of the time. He’s also half a season ahead of Nkunku and Jackson in terms of adaptation to the new environment.

    1. F4L
      • 9 Years

would just pick Sterling though, looking at pre-season gametime Poch has made RW his spot, Nkunku can play in Mudryk's position if Poch wants a midfield 3

Sterling can also be a steal if he gets in the right form. Would prefer over the injured Nkunku and Jackson with zero experience in the prem.

Pretty much this. I'm not picking Havertz or Nketiah. Could be tempted by Trossard but will probably just go Saka, Martinelli and Gabriel.

I wasn't on Jesus. I'm keen to see how Martinelli does as he's my 3rd Arsenal player.

So you got Beyer at the end of the bench
The rest of your bench is painful

I currently have Watkins first on my bench so I feel your pain

Livramento to Toon all but done.

Who is he going to displace in the back line?

Nobody - he'll be backing up Tripps. Just had a year out injured.

He's a right WB, so presumably understudy to Trippier. I think he has played on the left too.

No one soon. Maybe Burn drops out, with Livra or Trippier going to left back. Maybe he'll just be Trippier's understudy. Local press were rolling out old quotes from Walcott likening him to Bale. So maybe he might end up further forward.

Howe did trial 3-4-2-1 in preseason against Villa with Trippier as a centre back, so he could play wingback in that system if deployed as a plan B.

TLDR, wait and see how Howe integrates him into the squad. He's not scared to take his time with players.

Aye, a bit of savvy long-term, post-Trippier planning. He's 33 in September. Livramento for right-back duties, Tonali for the set plays.

I did read a lot of Soton fans wanting to see Livramento play further up the flank two seasons back, so good was he going forward.

Hopefully Ashby also benefits from his season on loan as he looked a decent right back in preseason.

I prefer A), but with Chilwell ahead of TAA and the spare cash distributed elsewhere.

A couple of real unknowns I'm currently trying to get my head around. Would be interested to know what others think:

    - Darwin Nunez. I'm convinced he's going to have a good season. But does he even start GW1 ahead of Gakpo right now?

    - Wissa. What do his minutes realistically look like? Is he going to be playing 90 mins regularly? Up top? out wide?

    - Nicholas Jackson. Again, minutes. Is he benched GW1 and made to earn his spot up top? Think he could be great if he's made the main striker straight away.

    - Martinelli. Not as worried about this one. But does anyone make a serious push to limit his minutes, Trossard has looked great in pre season. Havertz?

With the injury news, looks like it has made selection easier, however, last minute opinions always welcome. Please rate my draft and suggest what to go for:

    1) Shaw, Martinelli/havertz/trossard, Wissa (benched for gw1)
    2) Henry (benched for Gw1), Rashford, wissa
    3) Shaw, Mbeumo, Joao Pedro (benched for Gw1)

    Currently:

    Onana,
    Shaw, Estupinan, Gabriel
    Saka, Bruno, Foden, Mitoma, Martinelli
    Haaland, Jackson
    Sub: Areola, Wissa, Chilwell, Baldock

    thanks in advance!!

GW2 Botman off for James. Then Colwill first sub.
