Saka to Bowen on free tonight as possible price rise for Bowen or wait and carry transfer?

I'd wait if you can afford the rise. Saka may well be passed fit and play

I'd go for it as long as you're comfortable shipping Saka anyway (but not 'cos of the flag).

Happy to ship until WC in 9/10. I just don’t see him being risked with CL then City next week. And don’t trust Arteta to be clear in press conference!

      Estu second on your bench.

Gvar to play but if he gets some sweaty minutes off the bench you are done.

      Saliba the safest for 90.

      Kabore

      1. Kabore (xA and short term)
      2. Bell (minutes)
      3. Branthwaite (long term pick)
      4. van Hecke (risk but highest upside and best team)
      5. Beyer (rubbish team and fixtures)

I'd go Bell or Kabore if you are going to play them this week. If you are not I'd go Branth or van Hecke.

What are the chances of Kaboré getting both games?

I never take a -4 on a defender but I might be left with only two playing if Botman is ruled out.

    1. gart888
      • 10 Years
      1 year, 1 month ago

I think pretty good, but still wouldn't take a -4 for him. He might play two 90s and end up on 3 points.

    2. speardrops
      • 12 Years
      1 year, 1 month ago

It's very likely he starts both. If the transfer out is for a non-playing defender e.g. Chilwell, Gusto, Luton Andersen etc. then it is worth it.
As a 2 point gamble then for returns and another player in reserve plus extra funds.

Wait for news. Howe is fraudulent in his press conferences, he's an annoyance.

It's time for Darwin? I can buy him for free this week.

    Jurgen Klopp on Darwin Nunez:
"Massive steps in the last few weeks. He’s a threat. His goal was pretty good, right? He was strong, always available. The defensive work he puts in now, that’s the main difference. Really good."

Do you mean defensive work or pressing? I’d consider them very much two different things. The best FPL strikers are rarely those that are good at defensive work

He loves Gakpo though and Nunez is still adapting.

If he was 80+ every week we would all have him. 2 dodgy fixtures to assess. Plus I assume you would be forgoing Alvarez or Morris who have better fixtures and minutes.

Would you WC team below to unwind a rushed -4 already done? (did Estu and Sterling to Trips and JWP)

Thinking there are better transfers and other players to sort out!

    Pickford
    Botman, Trips, Colwill
    Salah, Maddy, Mbuemo, Saka, JWP
    Haaland, Alvarez,
(Turner, Pinnock, Baldock, Mubama. £0.6M itb)

Estu out isn't the best but the players in are prime picks this week.

Pinnock's fixture isn't even bad if you need him. If Saka is injured I would take a hit. If Saka, Botman and Maddison are injured then a WC is for sure tempting.

My assumption is Saka is the most likely to be injured so him to Son is great.

Cash but why not Newcastle? They have Burnley at home and just kept a clean sheet against Man City, pumped Sheffield. I am assuming 2 NEW already.

Is Salah rising tonight, if so I can't afford Bowen (but can afford Diaby or JWP)

I think I have given up Eze until GW11 at least (Well Olise will probably be back by then). Been a bit of a dister that pick

    Turner (Johnstone)
    Saliba, Botman, Kabore (Gusto, Estu)
    Saka, Maddison, Son, Saka, Eze

I think it makes it more likely it is a sweaty set piece from JWP then. But you're right they will want to sure it up and not get trounced again.

I am from close to Sheff but they are so poor. Easy team to target unless they turn back time to the Lundstram days of old.

If that's your only true route to Son then yes I'd unfortunately go for Gordon with the expectation of a booking soon and JWP to outscore this week.

If you think JWP scores more than 4 points over Gordon then it could be worth it still and just hitting Son instead.

          For safety - Gordon.

If you are going to be priced out and you want this structure long term - go for it.

You will have to mentally prepare for Rashford returns in three plum fixtures, 2 at home against 3 poor sides.

United just pumped Palace (arguably the strongest and most in form of the three) in the cup too.

Saka will give you freedom if he is out.

B - but with literally any 4.5m or 4.4m. Bowen is great too. Also don't waste a Newcastle spot on your 15th man. What if you realise Trippier is the best defensive pick in the game? Gordon starts firing consistently? Wilson or Isak get injured making the other prime?

Why would you put funds in to your 15th man?

Should be Archer in a 352 or Nakamba in a 343. You will never play them and you will always need the FPL funds plus a Newcastle 3rd spot.

Lots of injures and lots of fixture swings.

Man City have more and more fixtures for rotation, their PL run-in is poor.

Spurs fixtures are plum next week onwards. Same with Villa.

Brighton's are fairly poor now plus rotation. United's fixtures are quality for those who jumped off with Fernandes still firing.

Brentford slumping with Pinnock, Henry, Mbuemo and Wissa all popular.

WH defenders, JWP and Bowen have Sheffield then a good run.

Popular picks like Saka, Maddison, Botman, Chilwell, Gusto, Eduoard, Ferguson, Isak, Wilson, Solanke, Jackson, Martinelli, Burn, Henry, Shaw, TAA - injured, banned or doubts.

I suppose Morris opportunity too, plus 14th man to Kabore and 15th Archer.

Not as crazy as most think since this week is the last good fixture and it is away at a strong Emery side.

But... He is one of the most attacking defenders in the game and playing for a Brighton side in their prime.

If you have others that can cover him I'd hold. If not he is fine to sell for 3 weeks or so.

Guys, I need some advice with this. No more free transfer this GW, already made Gusto --> Digne

    Ederson
    Saliba - Digne - Estupinian,
    Maddison ( injured ? ) - Saka ( injured ?) - Bruno - Sterling - Foden
    Haaland - Watkins

Bench: Turner, Archer, Chilwell ( injured), Baldock ( injured)

    A) Leave as it is and pray for Saka and Maddison play
    B) go -4 for Chilwell ( Schar or Reguilon )

I would be grateful for your help

    1. speardrops

Digne is risky. Moreno is coming back from injury and TacticsTactics loves him. I do think Villa are great investments under Emery in two weeks time but it is fine to go early.

If Saka is injured, Saka to Son.

I think you should have glued Gusto to your bench and transferred Chilwell to Trippier personally. Gusto at 4.2m is fine as bench fodder whilst Chilwell holds 5.6m that you can use on the best defensive asset in FPL right now.

      Just food for thought...

Hey, thanks for the detailed opinion, mate. I did the Chilwell to Botman before the Carabao. But I see that Chilwell is also injured so I guess it is still a good transfer.

As for who to bench first, I guess Estu it is and he and Udogie will have to put out fires if needed for this GW

I think Estu is a great 12th man this week but would expect any returns to come from his whipping in a cross.

I also did Chilwell to Botman early and don't regret it TBH. Howe is a nutter with pressers, I don't trust him unless he says: "Yes. Sven Botman is unavailable on Saturday."

          I am concerned for Saka.

Saying all this Botman has an opportunity for rest this weekend since Burnley are atrocious. That's if he has a niggle.

    Salah-less wildcard:

4.2 mil in the bank for Son or Fernandes to Salah when the fixtures line up or you just fancy it on a whim.

Salah wildcard with money for Morris to Nunez next week:

    https://x.com/speardrops/status/1707499716370739552?s=20

Wait on Saka, Botman, Maddison etc. news first. If Saka is fit, he is the top scoring midfielder in FPL against an atrocious defence (for years now).

I think people need to think before doubling up on midfields going forward.

There are midfielders available in the game and all affordable to avoid doubling up.

Also, not sure why people want to go without Salah and sit with cash ITB. You can't do anything with it and will end up getting Mo anyway 🙂

Cheers Foo, hope your team isn't too flagged this week!

I don't buy into doubling or tripling up being a bad thing and never have in FPL.

They are all picks in isolation. If you already have Bowen for example. Would picking JWP be a bad pick against Sheffield United who just shipped an 18 pointer to a Newcastle United right back on set pieces? I don't think so.

There also no picks right now that are better than JWP at or below his price in the game (Diaby is not as cheap before someone calls me out!).

Salah has Spurs and Brighton. Rashford and Fernandes has Palace (rubbish), Brentford (terrible form) and Sheffield (worst team right now), two at home. Son has Liverpool (haven't been good defensively in a few years now, the stats back that up) and then Luton (utterly ter!). Hence the flexibility of a premium with better fixtures scoring the same amount as a 12.5m asset.

The money in the bank gives you that option to go straight away with Salah and/or Nunez on those drafts if you fancy it too.

If money was no object, for sure Salah is the best mid pick but he is currently on 4 points more than Mitoma who is almost half his price. Whilst two premiums (Son and Saka) who are 3 mil less have a better fixture this week and more points.

Salah at 10m would be a different conversation completely/essential.

        1. FOO FIGHTER

I think most teams have at least two flags.

There is nothing wrong with doubling up on mids but often it is a case of one hauls, one blanks.

The double up with Haaland and Alvarez up top is what I prefer as it allows me a cheap forward and 5th mid like Gordon or JWP and Eduoard/Archer without having a serious benching headache.

Double up on defence also a bit meh considering the low amount of clean sheets available.

I have got Mo, Son, Bowen, Saka, Haaland and Alvarez as my main attack. There really is no need to sit with money ITB.

          1. speardrops
            • 12 Years

            It can go either way.

I've had Haaland and Alvarez since early on. Maddison and Son are also a great combo.

In years gone by we have had essential ones (or close to) of Aguero and KDB, Salah and Mane, Suarez and Sturridge. I never really by into not doubling up.

Even at the back last season having Trippier plus Schar was great or double Man City defence in previous season.

If Saka is actually out, it changes a lot of structure and transfers.

      As his fixtures would read:

Blank (8.7m doing nothing in your team)
Man City (if he is fit he plays the best team in the league and best defence)
Chelsea (away and against a team with a strong defence despite all the; deserved, criticsim).

We have 32 gameweeks. Template isn't an issue right now.

I'd go B if you have plans to ship Morris in the future.

A is better mid term. But Claire also has a booking. Archer is much better cover than Nakambs but you are never going to play the Archman anyway so that's a non-point.

The problem with Norris is that there is no obvious transfer target for him. Yet all it takes is one injury to any mid barring Gordon. Gordon could be sold for Neto for example.

I don't like Neto. His 15 celebrations for 1 goal show his lack of goals in the last few years... And he plays for Wolves. Doucore could be an option for Gordon.

I agree more flexibility with Gordon v Morris in isolation.

I think Burnley and Everton double, then an attacking Spurs side next week gives you time and opportunity.

    Hi Folks,

Claire Balding is the better pick, more nailed, better stats. Only downside is his yellows. I'd even go Doucore over Almiron.

Also, Almiron is the same price as JWP. It's no contest - JWP 90 mins vs Sheffield vs Almiron rotation and little form vs Burnley.

Porro if you have the funds and enjoy an attacking fullback. Udogie for a Boring Andy/xMins/safety pick.

Martial - years of injuries and sulking.
Cavani - didn't prioritise club football.
          Weghorst - Weghorst.
          Rashford - not a striker.
Ighalo - loved the club but not good enough.
Ronaldo - too many poor pressing issues when not on the ball and off the pitch.
Falcao - couldn't settle in the UK.

Ibra had goals, hold up, assists, strength, consistency, reliability. He had it all.

Big sources (van Gaal, Mourinho, Ronaldo, Ibra and Solskjaer) have openly mentioned they would rarely get primary targets. The Glazers take massive dividends and have not invested it into the club's infrastructure. The stadium and facilities need care.

They like to buy stop-gaps and loans instead of properly fixing the issue. Sure in the short term a Kane or Osimhen would cost more but it's surely better than a conveyer belt of unwanted strikers every 6 months and lack of success.

He looks decent. But is he worth what they paid for him?! Hmmmm.
