    1FT.
    A. Mbeumo to Mitoma

    D. Maddison to Saka (-4)

    Team is:

    Areola (Turner)
    Udogie Cash Burn (BOTMAN Kabore)
    Salah Saka Son Maddison MBEUMO
    Haaland Alvarez (Archer)

2 FTs, 0.3 in the bank

    A) Mbeumo to Mitoma and Botman to Gabriel

    B) Mbeumo, Maddison, Archer to Gordon, Palmer, Watkins for -4 (0.3 in the bank for Botman to Gabriel next week)

I'm pretty conservative with just 1 hit all season and WC still in hand. However, even I must admit the hit for Watkins doesn't look that bad. Losing Maddison feels bad though I have my WC in hand so can reverse these changes few weeks down the line. Which option would you prefer?

Probably. More that I have no other route to Watkins and I want him for the next 5 so may not captain but he is my missing link that I have the most fomo for

Cheers mate. That's been my option all week. It basically boils down to
Watkins(-4) and better 8th attacker vs Maddison and an extra transfer(since I would need to swap Botman out next week) . So A) does make a lot more sense while B) is risky but gives me the hallowed Salah, son, saka, haaland, Alvarez, Watkins combo 🙂

I honestly hate taking hits, to me it only makes sense if it’s for a dgw player. Take a hit for a forward means he needs to score to gain only 2 pts.

What combination will score more points over the next two weeks?
    A. Haaland and Neto
    B. Saka and Nunez

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 5 Years

A, especially if you cap Haaland vs Bournemouth

Neto and Saka both face Sheffield and Newcastle, so it's Haaland vs Nunez

It's tight though, but I'd say captaincy swings it

You might not be planning to cap Haaland right now, but it's possible that the Man U game makes you wish you didn't sell him

It woukd have been a Haaland assist as well, giving Erling 2G 1A and a few missed big chances

To be fair, it was blatantly obvious that VAR made another mistake by not chaulking off the penalty decision. Even the way Haaland took the penalty was a player which is lacking sharpness. The GK went slightly to early otherwise he would have saved it.

In general, there is something off about the City attack. Lots do the with the players which left and the absence of KDB. Their defence is dodgy as well.

Alvarez is City's best player now.

    Thoughts on these 2FT

Maddison and Porro to Saka and Tsimikas/Gabriel

    A) yeah
    B) no

    TIA

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 5 Years

      Probably sideways, so no

Porro is more attacking than the two replacement options, imo, and has a game where he can hit double figures because Palace attack ain't great right now

      Maddison vs Saka is close

I'd consider a different route to Gabriel this GW, Porro to Guehi/Mitchell next GW, then Maddison to Saka in GW12

Wrong timing. I think the former outscore the latter over the next 4 GWs or so, due to Palmer's fixtures vs Neto's

Maddison vs Saka is close, and Saka has the fixtures to outscore him in the medium term, but I won't go there via Neto to Palmer, as that's
      a move for GW14+

Unless the plan is to bench Palmer/Neto

      Are there other routes?

I think it might be essiential to have Watkins in the team due to easy fixtures, but for -4 hit am little hesitant. Also is it mad to get rid of Trippier? Which option is better?

    Areola (Turner)
    Porro Cash Trippier Tsimikas( Kabore)
    Salah Odegaard Son Bowen Gordon
    Haaland (Morris) (Archer)

1 FTs, 0.3 in the bank

    A) Trippier+ Morris(-4) to Braithwaite/Beyer + Watkins

    B) Odegaard + Morris(-4) to Adingra/Palmer+Watkins

    C) Odegaard to Saka (FT)

    1. mojoindojo

      B with palmer

    2. Ze_Austin
      • 5 Years
      10 months, 17 days ago

So... Saka for free vs Watkins for -4

If you aren't capping either, maybe the free one

That said, I really like the long-term look of B as it fixes two weaknesses. Ødegaard's open-play threat has evaporated this season (even getting subbed off earlier than usual), and Morris was a DGW punt who's overstayed his welcome

I also think a more selfish Watkins can outscore Saka in particularly explosive games, so I'd consider capping him vs Luton at least

Wouldn't lose Trippier to keep Ødegaard this season

Adingra over Palmer for now, but just for the next few GWs

      1. Tripleh123
        • 3 Years
        10 months, 17 days ago

Ya Saka for free or Watkins(-4). Certainly won't captain Saka as I think he will be subbed off early. Leaning towards Salah cap or Watkins if I get him. Will it be crazy not to get Watkins? He is like in form Vardy without the pens atm.

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 5 Years
          10 months, 17 days ago

Yeah, I trust Watkins as a captain more than Saka at the moment. Saka's in the better team and I'm happy to buy him, but the goals are more spread out, like how Watkins started the season. Watkins looks likely to outscore Saka over a run of easy games for both, while I think I'll trust Saka more than Watkins in tougher games... If that makes sense

Gordon Tsimikas, methinks. Spend the extra elsewhere

Martinelli tends to suffer from Nketiah starting (Jesus is hamstrung), while 4.5 seems a healthier investment than premium for a defence with two clean sheets from nine games. Trent has 1 assist from around 13 goals Liverpool's scored with him on this pitch this season. He's not our chief creator anymore

Best options for the two missing spots in my WC squad?

Note that i currently have trippier & porro in my team, so have value tied up with them
I can get a mid upto 5.6 along with keeping trippier or maybe porro & Bowen?

    Areloa/Strakoshka

    Cash/Gabriel/XX/Tsimikas/Taylor

    Saka/Son/Salah/Palmer/XX

    Watkins/Haaland/Archer

12.4 mn for the two spots, both starters

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 5 Years
      10 months, 17 days ago

I'd consider Bowen + Guehi + Coufal (over Taylor) if Coufal is fit

This probably allows Turner over Strakosha

I think injuries are coming, so a slightly better bench is needed on the WC, if possible. The fixture congestion is starting to bite many teams already

Even if you hate rotation, just have the defender with the worst fixture (or the one you'd have skipped if you kept Taylor) on your bench as an emergency sub

Bowen vs Trippier, I'd say Bowen due to fixtures for now. Skipping Porro on a WC because the fixtures (again...) aren't great for clean sheets after Palace

      1. The Red Devil
        • 9 Years
        10 months, 17 days ago

Coufal + Bowen would mean triple West Ham? I don't know, it's probably the recency bias, but just felt trippier has more avenues to points than Bowen & better for bonus too

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 5 Years
          10 months, 17 days ago

Coufal can rotate, and has the fixtures to come in with a return as an autosub when needed... Or allow you to delay a transfer out for an injured player because he can slot in easily... Until GW17

Trippier is one point ahead of Bowen, while Bowen has had harder games. Their fixture difficulties are about to switch dramatically

If you really want Trippier over Bowen, that's fine too. Just the way I see it

I have neither. Can't afford 'em, so I've got JWP

Is it dumb to bring in Son now?

He’s playing no. 9 and spurs looking like they’re scoring at least 2 a game.

If I see spurs score, I instantly think Son and/or Maddison

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 5 Years
      10 months, 17 days ago

I think he's among the three most important assets in the game right now. Should be priced closer to Haaland and Salah to make things tough... Basically, he's replaced Kane

If the season started in GW4 or he was the striker from GW1, this would have been clearer

    2. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 3 Years
      10 months, 17 days ago

Not at all, GW12+13 fixtures are captain material for him and he'll be 10m before long if he keeps going

      1. Ze_Austin
        • 5 Years
        10 months, 17 days ago

Thing is, we predicted this in preseason 😀

Ange's striker will do well because he always wants the team to score more goals regardless of opponent, and said striker will be a gift if Kane leaves... The Richarlison experiment didn't work, and now we've got Son in the golden boot race while they're on top of the league

Lots of respect for Ange 🙂

    3. FOO FIGHTER
      • 5 Years

Why would it be dumb when he is the 3rd highest scoring player in FPL? I guess it all comes down to the sacrifices you make.

It does not mean he will score you points if you bring him in though as players can't be expected to score every GW but that is why you have 15 slots for players.

Him playing as the focal point, I am keeping.

Rephrasing my question above for simplicity

    B) Watkins -4

(Have son, udogie, cash if that helps)

    1. Ze_Austin

      1. Valar(Keith)
        • 14 Years
        10 months, 17 days ago

Same. Ive not been terrified about not owning a player for a while. That being said Watkins stats are purely mid level while Maddison is up there with the elite guys. Not sure if I'm breaking up what's working well for nothing and just in time for Watkins purple patch to end. Had Maddison since 7.5 so I'm a bit wary.. I do have my WC to reverse it in GW 15 though.

        1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
          • 3 Years

The purple patch argument with Watkins is always worth keeping in mind given his history. To be fair I think it's probably different this time given his comments about Emery pushing him to be less worried about dropping deep and given Villa's form. But I can't get to him without losing someone I want to keep (maybe even two players) so I'm just going to have to hold out for now myself. I'm absolutely expecting pain this weekend but nothing I can do, not like I don't have other players that can get points in his place anyway

Think I'm with Randaxus on this one. Only similarities from a purely footballing level I see with Alvarez and Aguero is their speed, quick feet and low centre of gravity. Alvarez is excellent at playing in the spaces behind the forward/wingers and is a superb passer. Aguero to me was an amazing forward but he was an out-and-out striker while Alvarez is more of an all rounder

Agree with this, would stick with Bowen. You know he'll play every game and there's a chance he'll play some games at CF if Kudus breaks into the starting XI. Martinelli has always looked on the fringes when Nketiah is on the pitch

It feels a little backward but moving out Bowen, Maddi or Son are the alternatives for Saka. I could go large and do Haaland to Diaz to free up funds but I will end up going back to him.
        You can't have them all

Nice to see someone else with TAA. I'm keeping him personally. Appears an obvious makeweight to free up funds but I just love him as an asset and think he'll pick up some monster scores over the next few

Q1 : starting Alvarez or Maddison? I have Son and no Haaland.
Q2 : starting Scharr or Udogie? I have Trippier starting.

    Areola
    Trippier - Cash - ??
    Salah - Saka - Diaby - Son
    Nunez - Watkins

Thank you. Alvarez was rested last night and surely start in the Manchester derby. That is one good factor for him. He is the only city attacker I have. There is good reason to play him. I’d wait and see how Nunez is used in Europa game and decide.

Have to start Alvarez, he will be a menace for the entire UTD team.

Newcastle are away, I would spread the risk and start Udogie but he may not be deemed fit.

Is having Son essential do you think? Two slightly different WC teams below, which is best? - Second one means playing Palmer each week.

    Areola
    Guehi | Tsimikas | Gabriel
    Saka | Maddison | Salah | Mitoma | Bowen
    Watkins | Haaland
    Turner / Branthwaite / Taylor / Mubama
    ---------------------------------------------
    Areola
    Guehi | Tsimikas | Gabriel
    Saka | Bowen | Son | Salah | Palmer
    Haaland | Watkins
    Turner / Branthwaite / Taylor / Mubama

    Thanks

Son + Palmer vs Maddison + Mitoma, then

I'll make one slight alteration: Son + Adingra (for now), get Palmer later

      Areola
      Cash | Tsimikas | Gabriel
      Saka | Bowen | Salah | Mitoma

      Turner / Guehi / Nakamba / Taylor

Have Watkins in both scenarios so would captain him hence his inclusion. Transfer would be Gabriel in for Estu instead of switching Haaland with Salah

How good did Alvarez look last night when he came on, took his (disallowed) goal brilliantly after 2 mins!?

Haaland still not quite at full throttle I thought in general throughout the game but I then Nunez was a bit meh in that 10 position and not on same wavelength as rest of the attack to feed the big man.

Ultimately its two goals last night for him and would have been an assist as well for the Alvarez goal and thats all we care about when the whistle blows when the weekend comes around.

Id be pretty rattled if I didn't have Haaland but I think its clear now how important Alvarez really is to that city unit, shipping him out for Watkins as many have/will could be just as painful.

I'm going with the assumption/hope that Alvarez will again be at the centre of a lot of City's play and that ManUtd will try to be compact but will be exposed by their usual failings. I'm captaining Alvarez unless something makes me think any different on this

Wow good luck Nate! Ahead of the curve with that one but I think eventually he will be a genuine option for captaincy as its starting to become pretty obvious.

Personally I’m going with Watkins armband but I have a 343 with Haaland Alvarez and Watkins up top. Really looking forward to the weekend, hope the Alvarez captain comes off for you mate!

If I had Watkins he'd be ahead of Alvarez for sure, I can't get him without getting rid of players I know I want to keep so I'm just staying away. I'm just going to back Watkins in the goal markets to cover myself as I'm sure he'll minimum score a brace. Good luck to you too mate!

I think TAA is far too overpriced. Its Trippier or sub 5m and use the money in attack.

This Trippier is doing what Trent used to

    3. Ze_Austin

Around 13 goals with Trent on the pitch so far in this season's EPL. Trent has had one assist. This is while Liverpool have kept two clean sheets in 9 games

Stats are pretty low as well. His points now come at the rate of assets priced at 5.0

I think Trent is a nostalgia pick right now. Yes, it could turn out great due to better fixtures, but the number of goals we've scored without his involvement is in stark contrast to previous seasons

      1. Chandler Bing

      1. Ze_Austin
        • 5 Years

        I'd skip both defences entirely

There are cheaper defenders who'll get more returns than both, due to their higher chances of clean sheets

Trent and Dalot are from eras when both defences were on for 15+ clean sheets for the season

    5. House Frey Wedding Planner

I'm toying with the idea of bringing Trent in as a differential. Will be selling Haaland this week so the funds are there and I need to replace Botman

I think the Trippier boat has sailed with his big points and good fixtures now behind us. Trent does have some great fixtures ahead and I think he will outscore Trips if he stays fit. The stats don't look fantastic but from the 6 games he's started, 3 have been away to Brighton, Chelsea and Newcastle. He returned 12 points against Villa and got a clean sheet last week. I'm looking at it as a differential punt for a few weeks while Liverpool have good fixtures. If it doesn't work out then I'd sell him to free up cash to get Haaland back later

Would much rather have Trippier here than Trent

His new role has affected his open-play output, while Szoboszlai's presence has affected his set pieces

And it's quite possible that we keep just one clean sheet in the next 4, vs Luton. Young's first-half red card helped that CS vs Everton

I understand the feeling that this is like getting Trippier before GW5, but I strongly doubt it is

              • 6 Years

Think I like Trent's upcoming fixtures better than Trippiers. Also fear that the boat has sailed with Trippier and the points will slow down. If you had Trippier from Gw5 or 6 onwards then I'd keep him, but not sure I'd bring him in now when the fixtures are tougher

      2. Chandler Bing
        • 8 Years
        10 months, 17 days ago

This is exactly my thinking as well. Haaland less so I have unlimited budget basically. I've worked things around and I can easily get Haaland later. But not sure if TAA even provides any value these days. Fixtures are good offensively but mixed defensively.

        1. House Frey Wedding Planner
          • 6 Years
          10 months, 17 days ago

I'm not convinced Liverpool are totally shaky defensively. In the games Trent has started, it's only the game against Bournemouth where they've conceded unexpectedly. They conceded against Brighton, Newcastle and Chelsea all away from home where a clean sheet would be tough anyway. Clean sheets kept against Villa and Everton at home.

With Forest(h), Luton(a), Brentford (h), Fulham(h), Sheff Utd (a), Palace (a) from their next 7 I'd expect Liverpool to keep clean sheets in at least half of those games and Trent to get at least 3 attacking returns (which normally come with bonus points)

Of course Tsimikas is the cheaper option but he's less likely to get attacking returns and there will be questions about his minutes. Don't think he'll start all of those games and there's a risk he'll get pulled off before 60 mins
