    Wildcard team
Any thoughts and inputs are appreciated

    Areola
    Porro Estupinan Doughty
    Saka Foden Richarlison Palmer
    Watkins Toney(C) Pedro

    Dubravka KDB Gusto Trent*

Enough ITB to do Toney -> Haaland GW22

That's a big bet to take on Toney. Could be a winner.

Also on the WC & I’d consider Neto instead of Dubravka, Bournemouth will get their double sprung on us eventually & that’s one less FT to use down the road.

Been considering this quite a lot
More money on keepers makes it more difficult to get Salah back is my only issue

You’ve got a lot of money in defence, maybe swap Richarlison to someone like Garnacho? Frees up a lot and he’s easily benched (covers Palmers tricky games) less benching headaches in the future too when KDB is starting for you instead of being benched.

Do you really need to WC now ? What about all dgws coming up etc how will you navigate this ? Just saying:) do you have enough cash to get Salah back as well? Nice team though

No, not enough cash for Salah. Would need to make two moves to get Salah back

I see you like your differentials so let's talk about Saka. Since GW7 he ranks 43rd for points per start, behind the likes of Maupay, Tsimikas, van de Ven, Mavropanos, Mudryk. Arsenal's slump in form looks a real issue to me. I think that's a template spot you can profitably bet against - and also free up funds for Pool doublers. Have you thought about a 3rd Pool options for 25? I kinda fancy Alisson if Jota is getting rotated. Or maybe Harvey Elliott?

Saka and Arsenal has been underperforming indeed. I'd imagine that to turn around sooner or later.
Big reason why he is there is FOMO in my brainz. His ownership is sky high. The haul is imminent?

I'm not sure who I'd rather have, even if your stats from GW7 says a lot. Tons of high scoring players unavailable at the moment.

Haven't thought much about the 3rd pool player out yet, will see who emerges

He is still racking up xGI and I sort of get why people are being patient with a player of his class. But I guess I just don't have as much faith that Arsenal will turn this around soon. In the current setup, it just looks like doubling up on Saka stifles their attack too easily. For me he's an easier sacrifice than Trent/Watkins when trying to rebalance for Salah & Son, and in the meantime I would fancy Groß & Neto to outscore him - I've gone for these 2 even without any real budgetary constraint. Brighton triple up could be gold..?

      It's interesting.

I would 100% have Solanke on WC. He has a DGW coming up and after Liverpool his fixtures are decent and he's a nailed 90 min guy. Would get him over Pedro.

Would still keep Gabriel. Arsenal's xGC is elite and they should turn it around soon plus they have the fixtures to do it.

I don't mind the KdB bench strategy. Could be rich reward starting next week.

Solanke is actually in my current team, haven't lost him because I have value tied up.

However, if I do go for Solanke, I'd have to drop one of Saka or Richarlison?

How would you fit Gabriel in without spending more money on defence?
As I want Trent, Porro, Estupinan long-term

    Areola
    Porro Gabriel Branthwaite Lascelles
    Saka Richarlison Palmer Garnacho
    Watkins Solanke

    Dubravka Haaland TAA Salah

    1ft
    0.5 itb

    Lascelles not likely to play

    A) Lascelles to someone 4.5 or below

Best way to spend this FT?

    1FT - 7,3itb

    Areola

    Bowen* - Salah - Saka - Palmer - Foden
    Solanke - Watkins - Archer

    Turner - Cash - Taylor* - Salah(!)

On WC due to having way too many fires to put out without taking a -12 or more.. Any changes? Really fancy going for KDB but would have to pick him over Foden and maybe that's a move I make in a week or so. Got £14.5m in the bank currently, which is a lot.. but means I can get Salah/Haaland back in easily.

    Areola
    Estup - Porro - Saliba
    Saka - Gross - Jota - Foden - Palmer
    Joao Pedro - Watkins

    Dubravka - Emerson - Gomez - Archer

I'm wildcarding too. Only getting 8 out otherwise.
Similar to your selection but Haaland in place already with Solanke bench to cover any absence. Haaland will be back for Burnley on 31st Jan surely, so thought I'd get him in now. 2.4million in the bank. Will be able to get Salah back at the expense of Saka quite comfortably with 2 ft by then. Feel ok about it

      Areola
      Estupinan - Porro - Gabriel
      Saka - Gross - Jota - Foden - Palmer
      Haaland - Watkins

      Turner - Solanke - Walker - Doughty

I think KdB is a complete no-go until we see him complete consecutive 90 minutes. He's said himself he's not likely to start any games in the near future. So would keep the money for Salah and Haaland.

Not a massive fan of the Gomez pick - he'll be a transfer out soon enough. You can get more reliable picks in the £4.0m bracket.

If you’re on a WC (like these boys) getting KDB and gambling is better than leaving the Salah money in the bank doing nothing.

If it don’t work out, he’ll be Salah, if it works out, you’re flying up the ranks.

Anyone considering Garnacho over likes of Foden/Richarlison this week and pivoting to a 3-4-3? Do we think he can score similar over next few game weeks?

His price is very attractive and seems to be the key to unlocking a team with Haaland, Salah, Saka, Trent, and Watkins. For my team, if I sell Son for Foden/Richarlison then it blocks me off a clear route to Trent (who I don't own), and would like to keep that option open. But just weighing up the potential points loss to the field if I don't immediately invest the Son money in the XI.

In a year where money was an issue, I would say absolutely, but most of us have 5m in the back and points per dollar or not as valuable as points.

Maybe when all the premiums are back, downgrading to him to help with money, but I don't think he's a viable option in the next 2 weeks.

I keep looking at united and keep telling myself, I haven't been burned by them this year and I don't want to start now

Currently on a -4, need a -12 to field 11 (if Mctominay doesn't start). Have Bowen, Son, TAA, Senesi, Mctominay to miss out

    A - WC/FH
    B - Son, Mctominay -> Foden, Garnacho (-12)
    C - Son -> Foden (-8)
    D - field 9 players

    D - No hits

    Areola

Not sure on Jota , same as other post so similar to my WC team too. Wouldn’t go double West Ham defence. Also who do you drop the following gwk

    Hi all,

    Raya
    Turner Colwill Porro (TAA,Cash)
    Salah Richar Saka Palmer Hwang
    Watkins Solanke (Archer)

With a Free Transfer, would you take Salah or TAA out?

Let's talk captaincy for this week. Looks like the most difficult week of the season.

    I see 5 viable options.

    1. Saka - It's CRY. It would be a no-brainer in most other weeks if Arsenal were on form. But they aren't. He's looked a bit peripheral and Arsenal in general are struggling to create. He feels low-ceiling too which I generally avoid for captain. He only has 1 double return this season... I think I'm likely to go against him but can understand the safety in numbers approach since he's likely to have the highest EO by a wide margin.

    2. Foden - He has amazing form, Newcastle are defensively a bit shaky of late. But... they're still at home. St James Park has been a very tough place to visit all season. Newcastle have won 8, and lost just 2 at home, keeping 6 clean sheets. I don't love the fixture at all. But considering the lack of high ceiling explosive options, I still think he's one of the best options with high risk, high reward.

    3. Palmer - Good fixture, good form, bad team. Chelsea looked so blunt against Boro but Palmer missed a huge chance and also was on set pieces. I think him being the early kickoff and his low price is actually detracting from the fact he is arguably the best pick on paper based on fixture difficulty and natural potential. I think if my head wins over my heart I'll cap him over Foden.

    4. Watkins - He's so unfancied but he's one of the most consistent returners this year and has been fairly reliable. I don't think he has a huge ceiling though being a striker without pens and being away so I'm not likely to go here but he's a good choice for someone looking for a solid returner.

    5. Jota - Here's the ceiling differential. If you have him, I'd be very tempted. The fixture is decent for attacking, he has great data and Liverpool look strong. Let's see how he does tonight but I'd be tempted to take this chance in a week where captaincy is split and there is ground to gain.

      Solanke? 😉

Or Joao Pedro for those who have him.

Don't like. Pedro MAYBE but the lack of assured starts is ridiculous considering the number of goals he's scored. Just don't trust him enough. Could well be the highest scoring player though and like that he's on pens.

One must not bottle captaincy this gw because everyone will be back to Haaland next gw. Those 5 are good options.

Honestly, don't like Toney captain because we haven't seen him play at all. Forest have looked better under Nuno as well and Brentford are missing Wissa and Mbeumo plus have one of worst forms in the division. Also read a quote that Toney 'fell out of love with football' during his time away. That don't sound good. It's too many risks.

Can you cite that quote from Toney? Agree sounds bad. I want to check that out. But he is off my radar if he said that....plus game conditioning must be poor

I’ve played extremely safe with captaincy this season and it’s worked well but this week looked ripe for a gamble to me

I’ve done son > gross (cap) this week as son is as the only one of salah trent son I’m happy losing medium to long term as spurs may well blank in 26 and I already own richy

So yea, gross (c) but any of the ones your mention could haul of cause, great week for fpl

This was also the only way for me to get exact money for Darwin > haaland next week without losing mo or Trent

My captaincy choices this year have been really good as well. Captained only Salah, Haaland all season (Son once over Watkins where he blanked in 18).

Generally have gone for the most reliable players and focused less on fixture strength. Targeting Sheff Utd or Luton has really not been as good as just picking the top players in average fixtures.

Who's the top FPL performer that is a viable captain option this week is my question... And I think it's Palmer.

Palmer on paper but as a palmer owner I don’t fear his ownership even with captaincy it’ll be nicely spread around so just fancy a bit of a gamble

I get the SJP factor but Newcastle were absolute turd against Forest there too, not great against Fulham before the RC, lost to Milan... I think I'm still targeting them until I see otherwise, and with Foden's form & City's record v Newcastle, I'm pretty comfortable with the decision all round

Would you bring Haaland in on a WC to not waste later transfers?

I think you could say the same with Salah, Trent and Son but you need to field 11 players this gameweek. Maybe hold one

Yes if Haaland is expected to be in the squad against Newcastle. There will be a City presser tomorrow.

Similar to mine wouldn’t be on double West Ham defence with their injuries. Also not sure on double ars mids either as they’ve not really been that good. Doing same as you regarding money itb for Haaland if required .

    Is Foden worth a -4?

    Would give me:

    Areola
    Porro, Zinchenko*, Estupinan
    Foden, Saka, Palmer, Richarlison
    Watkins, Alvarez, Solanke
    (Dubravka, Bowen*, Taylor, Lascelles)

    Son being the player out.

What do you think with these options to replace Son & Jackson?

    A : Gross & J Pedro
    B : Foden & J Pedro
    C : Gross & Toney

Fwd could be a one week punt before getting Haaland back.
