The only player that has snuck into my drafts that isn't too popular is Minteh.

I'm surprised he isn't popular. I guess ESR, and maybe Murphy, getting some of the 5.5 attention.

Johnson 5th defender, parked on the bench

If they use a back four and he tucks in to be the RCB, that puts him level with Faes and Harwood-Bellis, I think. If Ipswich continues with the 3 ATB formation they tried in preseason, then he's a possible wingback gem from GW3. Looks nailed either way, so yeah

All my other picks are popular, if Munoz's 4.1% and Jota's rising 6% ownerships count

Any improvements on this? Do I need Arsenal cover?

How can I improve this draft please? Not spent a lot of time on it yet.

    Henderson, Matthews
    TAA, Porro, Robinson, Mykolenko, Barco
    Son, Eze, ESR, Nkunku, Winks
    Haaland, Isak, Watkins

Wouldn't burn a Palace spot on Matthews. That can force an extra transfer pretty soon, and he isn't guaranteed to be the backup if Johnstone stays

Get a lowly owned 4.0 from a less attractive team, like Lumly

Watkins to Solanke for me. Allows upgrades elsewhere, and *maybe* Saka over Son if you get Solanke

Spurs defence hasn't provoked much confidence, so Gvardiol or Arsenal over Porro for me

And I'll start Barco in GW1 then Robinson after, btw. I like that combo of cheap defenders though

Watkins to Solanke also allows Nkunku to 7.5, I think. Your choice between Jota and Gordon for that

And yeah, that's the FFS template I just typed out

GW1 probably. But he's looked the clear weak link defensively in the 2 friedlies that I saw (Liverpool & Lyon) & I would expect Calafiori & Timber to be ahead of him longer-term

No Haaland will kill your more than having no Salah.

Chelsea is not a difficult fix, if that was labelled green on the site, he’d be in everyone’s teams.

      1. Origi-nal
        • 9 Years

It's price more than fixture that's got him in only 44.5% of teams, I'd suggest.

      Nope. Unless you want Haaland

Not a fan of benching Wood though. I think he might outscore Garnacho by some distance, so I'd go Wood + ESR + 4.5/5.0 + money ITB for early-season bandwagons. Or upgrade Wood/ESR with that and the extra from dropping one keeper to a lowly owned 4.0

I see Onana and Areola. I'd suggest picking one GK, as keeper points are less predictable than defender points (these days?), with some massive save counts coming from harder games, and annoying 2-pointers from easy games where they concede one goal

      I agree - the value isn’t there

You wouldn’t select him on the last ten games of the season

2 assists and 1 goal in preseason, where the team has scored a lot of goals is a bit meh for the price tag

I do think Pool need to return to the 15-20 CS days for Trent to be truly worth it. They've had one season of that since circa 19-20

If they can he's a behemoth

      https://www.transfermarkt.com/trent-alexander-arnold/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/314353/plus/0/saison/2023/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/31

I think GWs 9 to 19 are the reason for his current price

I've come to see FPL pricing this way: the player might not be worth that amount over a full season, but they'll be worth it when I'm forced by form and fixtures to buy 'em. Like Bruno at a point last season, before his injury

Bobb and Rogers bit risky in the midfield. Would also pick a different bench GK as Hein might block you wanting triple Arsenal at some point.

        Agree with Apollo

I've got Trent Gvardiol Munoz Barco Johnson

Probably going Trent to Arsenal at some point. I'll be reluctant to sell in those first 6, unless Liverpool start horribly

Munoz over Trent depends on what you're doing with the funds, like maybe getting Haaland or another premium mid

Not at all! I really rate Eze as a top top player. Maybe I'm starting to have flashbacks to having him early last season and it not working as a pick. I suppose it's a different Palace now. The two games against Newcastle last season were like night and day from a Palace performance point of view.

I put more stock into regime (coach, playing style, previously fringe player) changes that have already shown recent promise in steady performances, because that usually means their prices will still halfway reflect the previous regime

It's quite possible that they drop off, but I really like Mateta Eze Munoz at those prices when looking at the Glasner era alone. Whole of last season? Well-priced. Glasner era? Underpriced. If they fall off, there are easy replacements at those prices

    4. Moderately content penguin
      • 6 Years

He does normally take a little while to warm up and when he's hot he's hot - otherwise not.

Looked rusty yesterday and fluffed 3 chances but the upside is he got into the positions and Palace looked very attacking and created plenty.

Defence the slightly bigger query. If they play that high a line then they'll be very open to counters if they come up against a low block.

Murphy will be a minutes risk, though should start GW1. If Newcastle had a less attractive GW1 fixture, then I wouldn't be considering him as a possible 5.5 to start with.

Currently edging towards giving Kamada a slot as my 8th mid but will likely think better of it. But do need a relatively certain GW1 starter there.

Low enough to have Havertz, Solanke, Wood or Pedro instead

Jesus can play CF, RW or LW, but isn't first choice in any of them. Should play (not necessarily start) in almost every game though, and get most of his starts as the CF whenever Havertz starts in midfield
