I did Solanke >> Pedro to free up some funds, now I’m wondering if I should’ve held and played Faes…

Leicester defence is in shambles, imo. I'm staying far away from starting them until they show improvement

I like how this article, clearly written at least 12 hours ago, begins perplexed at all of the Chelsea additions and musing over where the many attacking wide players could potentially fit in.

Meanwhile... Chelsea announce the loan signing of Jadon Sancho with the obligation to buy!!

    What a joke club

What the point of selling players like Gallagher just to buy these rejects. Gallagher probably gets more returns then Sancho

Because Gallagher is a Chelsea academy player which means selling him makes 100% profit, part of the stupid current financial rules.

Rules are basically discouraging clubs from keeping their homegrown talent because they generate the biggest sale profit.

    I'm on WC

Really having trouble deciding between Watkins and Bruno Fernandez drafts

    Which do you like

    A.
    Flekken
    Robertson - Robinson - Lewis
    Palmer - Salah - smithrowe - Rogers
    Watkins - Pedro - Haaland

    4.0 GK - amad - Nedeljković - Faes (0.3 itb)

    Or

    B.
    Flekken
    Robertson - Robinson - Lewis
    Palmer - Salah - eze - Rogers - Bruno
    Pedro - Haaland

    4.0 GK - Nedeljković - Jebbison - Faes (0.1 itb)

I can also go TAA + smithrowe over Eze and Robertson (in this 'B' draft too)

    Thanks!

Yeah. I think he's top for shots in the league or something. Shot stats don't count (wrongly) disallowed goals, so it's even one more shot on target

I know I keep posting but he did the same early last season. Top for shots in league. I sold on early WC Gw4 or 6 I think. After 19 gws Eze had 2 goals 1 assist

            1. Ze_Austin
              • 7 Years

I don't think that's predictive enough of how this season will play out

The factors are different. It's not some bad performances or rusty play... Dude literally had a perfectly fine free kick ruled out for a foul that the referee apologized for giving. Just that in, and the conversation would be different right now. That's ignoring when he hit the bar last GW as well

That's the type of "goal imminent" that makes me buy a player I previously didn't have on my radar

Would have been different for me if he had a high shot count but all were off target or lacking confidence, and all that

Hub had Solanke price locked whereas FPLStatistics kept predicting a price fall wrongly. Hub also had Saka > !00% which turned out to be correct.. Both sites over-predicting price increases of course but think Hub will be my first port of call as a rough guide to potential price changes.

      3-0

        Solanke's price isn't/wasn't locked. That's a mistake from Hub

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 7 Years
          1 year, 3 months ago

The price is only locked if the player goes from red-flagged to fully available. Shifting to a different flag colour doesn't lock the price, afaik

I agree with the rest of your point though 🙂

            • 5 Years

That's according to FPL Statistics - who also claim (wrongly) that players loaned out can have their price changed - something that was shown to be false in this analysis.

            https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2024/08/22/will-barcos-fpl-price-be-locked-if-he-is-loaned

Don't believe everything you read on Stats.

            1. Ze_Austin
              • 7 Years
              1 year, 3 months ago

Some misunderstanding there: a player loaned out can still have their price changed, because the player isn't unavailable but red-flagged. The player can still be recalled from loan

              A *sold* player is locked

Injury, suspension and loan will give a red flag. Being sold out of the league will remove the player from the market

So the Barco situation is a sale (unavailable to buy in the FPL market), not a red flag

              1. Sheffield Wednesday

                  I see what you mean

I was referring to the difference between a player who's loaned out yet still available (red-flagged, not "unavailable"), usually those who are loaned out for half a season. I can't find any example of that, so you're most likely right. My bad

                  1. Sheffield Wednesday
                    • 5 Years
                    1 year, 3 months ago

As the article summarised, with regard to red flags added after a player is loaned out.

"So, then, in the absence of anything official from FPL towers, the evidence does point to prices being locked."

It could be that FPL Statistics' notes are based on out-of-date observances, but regardless it seems Hub is better in real-world predictions regarding players like Solanke, even if their reasoning could be wrong.

Haaland red-flagged last season took forever to drop a measly 0.1m. Solanke still not dropped despite enormous drop in ownership percentage. Don't expect price drops on these popular players when they get red-flagged - i.e. ignore FPL Statistics predictions for them.

Okay, last week's early transfer Quansah to Lewis has brought a +0.3 difference; this week's early transfer Nkunku to Palmer has doubled that.

For someone who'd resolved pre-season to make NO early transfers, I've come out of my flexible approach to principles well. I just hope I can hold off further transfers to reach GW6 with some transfer credit in the bank.

B: Err... Bruno? Tough call. Definitely not Jota though
C: Haaland. Snuck Rogers in there, you cheeky fox...

Currently favouring A and the strong def.

    A) Raya/4.0
    TAA/Robbo/Saliba/Nedeljkovic/Johnson
    Palmer/Saka/Jota/ESR/Rogers
    Haaland/J Pedro/Jebbison

    B) Raya/4.0
    TAA/Robinson/Konsa/Aina/Johnson
    Palmer/Saka/Jota/ESR/Rogers
    Haaland/Havertz/Jebbison

I like A too but not sure double LIV def is necessary, could downgrade Robbo to upgrade Jebbison?

Can’t upgrade Jebbison to anyone decent, Wissa and Muniz 6.1

Been impressed with how attacking Robertson is, could’ve easily had returns so far. Triple up with TAA, Robbo, Jota to try cover Salah a little too

Because you have Jebbison fodder so need to upgrade 4 and 5 defenders.

I won’t ever need to play my 4th and 5th defender. TAA, Robertson and Saliba would be set and forget. Also no money to upgrade them either

That's fantastic. You've signed players that never get sick, injured, or rested. Why didn't I think of that

Jota is a few levels above Mbeumo until he's dropped (if ever) or injured, imo

I'll take Wissa from this list too, since he's locked in as their striker now

I see it this way: Mbeumo is a good replacement for Jota if/when you need that, but Jota at CF for the next 4 is mental at that price

Agree. I get the Mbeumo hype, but with the upcoming fixtures, he can wait until the Great GW6 Turn (and for me it might mean retaining Jota and losing Minteh/Isak).

Welbeck for me. He's the central striker and they keep passing/crossing to him. Pedro is their CAM, so will probably keep getting fewer of their big chances

Just looking more at Eze stats last season almost same minutes and shots per game as Darwin Nunez but Eze 2 key passes vs 0.9 for Nunez

    Eze 11 goals 4 assists
    Darwin 11 goals 8 assists

Tell me sterling didn't sign for Arsenal. 30m out/loan in. No good for chelsea but good for Arsenal. What a joke this story is.

Maresca said Sterling doesn't suit his system. He wants outright wingers, not inside forwards. Arteta's formation is more fluid and can accommodate Sterling's best traits when he plays, which might or might not be very often (can't predict injury crises). More of a chance on the bench there than out of the squad entirely at Chelsea, and Sterling didn't want to leave London for family reasons

Makes sense to me for all parties

I don't see the problem, he can help in the cups or to give any of the attackers a rest after a gamt is won, nobody thinks he will be close to the first 11 unless he's back to his very best

I feel it’s Jota’s spot to lose, Nunez could replace him but Jota playing well

      2. Ze_Austin
        • 7 Years

Nope. Slot has said he has four wingers, so that's Salah, Diaz, Gakpo and Chiesa

Leaving Jota and Darwin at CF, afaik. Darwin has done nothing in the league to suggest (to me at least) that he's a better striker than Jota. If Darwin becomes a threat to Jota, we'll probably see it as it's about to happen: a concerning barren run for Jota or an injury. Then it'd be easy to sell Jota if he's dropped or rotated

A quick reminder that Jota came in while Mane and Firmino were around, and then had random injuries when they left, harming his chances of nailing a spot down. This is a fresh start for him... Unless he gets injured, of course. That's also an easy sale in FPL if it happens

It's what we've got until there's more data, isn't it?

The other pointer is the reported call he had with Darwin to convince him to stay as one of his strikers, then Jota starting two games so far up top

It's all just guesswork until we can say something like "Jota started all 10 games so far at CF while Darwin started at CF in the cups"

      3. have you seen cyan
