The QPR defence has been letting everyone down this season, so perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised when the R’s conceded to Stoke and deflated our hopes of a treble victory last weekend. While Luis Suarez and Robin Van Persie delivered their part of the bargain, Harry Redknapp’s rearguard was breached twice and our winnings lost. Elsewhere, Michu, Robert Snodgrass and Romelu Lukaku all fell short, leaving us in Paddy Power’s debt and desperate to claw some funds back with this week’s “flutter”.
Everton are big favourites to skittle over Fulham at Goodison, with Marouane Fellaini earmarked as the likely instigator of their downfall. The Belgian finds a place in the Scout Picks and with Everton keeping four shutouts in the last six, Paddy’s odds of 9/2 on a Fellaini goal with a Toffees clean sheet at home to Fulham looks to have legs. We’ll show caution, however, and put just £2 of our stake money aside for this opening bet.
With 15 goals for the season and four in the last six league outings, there’s little doubt that Christian Benteke looks most likely to derail Paolo Di Canio’s Black Cats revival. Villa’s need for points is by far the greater and we’ve a feeling that this will lead to a narrow home win with perhaps a rare Villa cleanie thrown in. Paddy are offering 11/2 on a Benteke goal with a home clean sheet against Di Canio’s Sunderland and that looks worthy of £3 of our funds.
Jay Rodriguez has emerged as an unlikely end of season Fantasy prospect, even overshadowing the achievements of team-mate Rickie Lambert, who has enjoyed a superb first top flight season. With three goals in his last four starts, the former Burnley striker will go into the home clash with West Brom strongly backed to add to his six-goal season tally. With the Saints conceding just three goals in the last six, Paddy’s odds of 9/2 on a Rodriguez goal with a Southampton clean sheet at home to West Brom look generous enough to temp £4 from our pockets.
That leaves just a single pound to wager on this week’s treble as we focus on Scout Pick Carlos Tevez and near-miss Demba Ba. Paddy are strongly backing both to come good this weekend, presenting 6/1 on a goal for Tevez against West Ham, a strike for Ba against Swansea and a Stoke clean sheet at home to shot-shy Norwich.

1) Am I alone in thinking that Stoke/Norwich is a nailed-on 0-0?
2) I am really tempted to captain Tevez because I think City could absolutely batter West Ham, but the thought of him blanking in the lunch-time game and then having the rest of the weekend being tortured by that failure is putting me off. Thoughts?
