With the frantic festive period now behind us, we can finally take stock and assess the statistics over the last few matches. Having last looked at the data in Gameweek 17, we have three sets of matches to investigate – Arsenal’s midfield, Tottenham’s attack and United and City’s frontmen are all placed under the microscope this time around:
Leading on from the Walcott debate, curious what would your Premier League XI be based on future potential and not just current ability?
Open ControlsButland

Jeez England should do well in a few years...Open ControlsDid think the teens would be a shoe-in.
How conveniently we forget Lukaku (20) and Hazard (22). Amazing as to how much impact they've had on the league at such a young age. Just like Walcott.Open ControlsWow completely forgot about them, bit embarrassing as a Chelsea fan! Oscar is a worthy mention too.
Open Controls
Based on who will be better in a few years time or overall? e.g. Hazard now v Barkley in 5 years time?
Open ControlsAs in...based on best a player ever will be
If you think Suarez at his best is unrivalled, you can include him in too.Open ControlsLikely that Suarez will still be playing in FPL in a few years?
Open ControlsI also take it we can't go back in time with the older players. Like say Gerrard 9years ago

Open ControlsNastasic? Only 19 i believe.

Very nice. Great shout on Coleman actually.
Re. Jones, I know SAF has hyped him up a bit but need to see him play more games in a season. Shows glimpses of potential though.Open ControlsMight be Irish bias on Coleman but he's really young, solid and just keeps getting better. Think Jones will be good. Still pretty young too. Nasty a good shout, but as with most of the CB's not showing enough to know what they'll be like in a few years time.

Open ControlsA GW late.
Open ControlsWhy is that? Aguero and RVP will have been looked at plus any transfers probably would have happened
Open ControlsIf you know what you are doing you can get some of the big points up for grabs in GW 22 in Ars/ful, Livp/villa & City/Car...while ManU face Chel.
As well as be in a position to get Kun when he is ready.Open Controls
Christina, you're activating your wildcard on the 11th?
Open ControlsLooks like it. I want to see where I am with Rooney in GW 21 as well as keep an eye on Ade, Kun, Rvp, Boruc fitness.
As Enr says, it's GW 22 or 23.
I just prefer GW 22 as I feel there are some big points to be scored.Open ControlsIt's not about making TV for me. By now you either have a decent TV or you won't. We are in the business end of the season now. Time to kick on and shoot up the rankings.
If you have a TV of around 107m(as I guess most do) you are ok.Open Controls
8days*
Open Controlsand you get to see 14 team sheets before deadline
personally im a fan of gw22 and gw24 for the fixture swings.Open Controls?? Really?
Open ControlsJip
Open ControlsAlthough I'm not keen on "rushing" a WC team based on teamsheets. Not for me. I do get the attraction though. Just hoping the pressers confirm that the players I want are fit. And starting.
Open ControlsI think the big call for everyone is if Kun is fit for GW22.
If not, I may venture into a RVP gamble in GW23 and trigger WC thereafter.Open ControlsYeah 22 or 23 for me. GW 24 is not an option for me.
Open ControlsI'm happy to hold and gauge Kun's performance for a couple of games if possible. Players (mostly fwds) take a while after injury. Walcott was eased in, Benteke still struggling, etc.
Open ControlsYeah, I have Silva and have a plan to cover a possible mauling of Car by City in GW 22 if Kun is not fit.
As you say, Kun won't be rushed back, especially not vs Car.Open ControlsAs they have Spurs(a) and Chel(h) in GW 23 and 24.
Open ControlsExactly. Load up on City in GW22, then:
1) WC in gw23.
2) Or shift to Che in gw23. Then WC in gw24Open Controls
Sensible thing to do. Although if Pelle hints at a 60 min cameo, it will be too hard to resist 😆
Open Controls
its mainly a myth that you can raise team value during WC and that longer time between gameweeks is better for this. the amount of transfers is more or less the same in GWs that last 7 days or 10 days. Also you are only better for 0.1M£ rises this way and how many of these are you realistically targeting? The point of wildcards is to get the players you want as soon as possible, you might want many changes in your team and without hits the target players are gonna raise in price. you are using the wildcard to get the team you want, not to catch useless 0.1M£ gains
Open ControlsIndeed. Making a bit of money is a bonus
Open Controls
I have no need for my January wildcard 🙁
Open Controlsjanuary wildcard league code please?????
Open ControlsAlright DZ, get your reading glasses on. Seems to be a lot of people on who weren't around when I posted this earlier.
Long post alert! I've posted a lot of this information separately before the WC can be used so now that the WC is available I've grouped it all together in one long post. Headings are in caps so you can just read the information you want instead of reading it all. I'm aware this is REALLY long but I'm sure it will be helpful to some people, especially those early wildcarders. If you're not interested please just scroll down, this has taken me a lot of time 🙂

TBH, the point of having stickied posts is to negate the need for constant re-posting. Interesting as your stuff often is Innsie.
Open ControlsSorry ILF.
Open ControlsNo biggie Innsie, I'm a great admirer of your work and the effort you put in. Definitely worth a re-post in a later article today maybe as people haven't taken or got the time to check back through them all.
I didn't mean the first one to read that harshly. 🙂Open ControlsNo worries mate, I'll repost it in a later article if you're cool with that.

I wish 634,857 people hadn't took out Aguero in the same GW, he'll never get close to his starting value. I reckon only one -0.1m to come.
Open ControlsWell they sabotaged the result by not letting him drop on the first day. Most would transferred him out on the first day. He could have fell a furhter 0.2 at least
Open ControlsHe was at -250% or something like that

Gw23: Lloris & Lukaku --> Boruc & AgueroOpen ControlsLooks good. Do Redmond and JRod rotate well? Or are you planning on playing Jrod every week?
Open ControlsPlay JRod or Hooper everyweek (Norich fixtures til Gw34 are amazing).
Almots captain Suarez or Aguero everyweek so if the other third striker (Lukaku/Rooney/Adebayor) outscore Jrod/Hooper < 30p I deal with it consider their different prices.Open ControlsSounds like you've planned it out well, good luck 🙂
Open Controls
i have lost faith in redmond. not nailed on next month either
Open Controls
Considering waiting until the 18th to wildcard. There will be 10 days until the lock of GW23 giving time to play some prices for a bit and try to raise a bit of free money. The 28th also coincides nicely with the return to fitness/form of all the big hitters (even if some will actually feature on GW22 itself), not to mention the chance for a few transfers to already be complete.
Also my team should be solid still for GW24 allowing me to save and have 2 FT for GW25 when new transfers from outside the PL will have had a bit of a chance to gel with their new clubs.
Thoughts?
I know you disagree Christina..Open ControlsOn my WC
How does this team look
Krul-Mannone
Coleman-Terry-Ward-Turner-Chester
Oscar-Nasri-Walcott-Eriksen-Barkley
Hooper-Negredo-SuarezOpen ControlsYou've got the wrong Man City attackers.
Open Controlsdon't like Barkley (rotation) or Negredo (can't do it regularly without Kun).
Krul sure to concede against Spurs with their missing players
Hazard better option than Oscar, Nasri is inconsistent..
what's your SV?Open Controls101.8 in the bank
actually this is the 2nd team i made in GW5
somehow survived in the fpl cup till now with this team my 1st team was knocked out in the first round itself
Then i m thinking of having mignolet only with no rotation
and try to get silva and hazardOpen Controlspersonally I'm going two prem defenders and then cheapie everything else in the back..CS aren't easy to come by this season, money is better spent in attack. that's just me.
I'm probably going Boruc/Mannone for keepers..maaaaybe Boruc/DavisOpen Controlsthanks for the advice mate

i need a help, my team :

My question is do i really need wc this week? i hv 1 ft
I wann do Lallana & Podolski to Oscar & Rodriguez
Or i just save my FT and do it next weekOpen ControlsPodolski to Adebayor/JRod and it's gold
Open ControlsWhy get rid of Lallana when you've got an injured Ramsey?
Open ControlsNo point having him while he's injured though, you can always get him back later when he's fit or when you WC
Open Controls
If Rasey isn't fit, I'd wc.
Open Controlshonestly..I like it a lot.., don't WC yet.
keep Lallana (consider Eriksen) and do Podolski to Ade and Rooney to KunOpen Controlsyou may as well eep Ramsey at this point since he may return soon..what's your selling price for him?
Open Controls
I give people using rotating players until march before they give up. Just like the beginning of the season, good in theory but you need defenders from proper teams 😀
Open ControlsYour loss
Open ControlsYoure right but for the wrong reason. People will get discouraged when they bench the wrong option pretty soon, alas it's not worth at all in my op.
Open Controlsif you play one def out of two each week for there nice home game you will get more points than if you dont bother
Open Controls
I agree Missing Link. People are putting too much faith in rotation. Sure they have nice fixtures, but cos they're still part of a weak team, they're're still highly likely to concede. It does give you some flexibility though, allowing you to bench your main defenders for trips to the Eithiad and such but like Sinik says, I'd prefer to have 2/3 decent defenders and limit the amount of times I have to rely on a cheapie.
Open Controls
With the below squad, and in particular not really wanting the players in CAPS (7 in total after this GW) when would you advise planning to unleash my WC? I also still have the first WC if that makes a difference....
Szczesny, DAVIS
Terry, EVRA, Clyne, Ward, MOlsson
Walcott, Silva, NASRI, BARKLEY, STERLING
Suarez, ROONEY, LUKAKU
Bank 0.6m, 1 freebie
Options seem like:
A) WC in GW22 to get a fit Aguero in, ditch United and Everton cover
B) Load up on City in GW22, then WC in GW23 switching to 3 CHE players
C) Load up on City in GW22, couple of gambles upon knowing the GW23 team sheets pre-deadline, then WC a team for the next 6-10 weeks from GW24 onwardsOpen ControlsCurrent team. Reasonably happy atm
howard
kos/ coleman/ m.olsson
Walcott/ silva/ hazard/ mutch
suarez/ rooney/ lukaku
harper/ sterling/ ward/ chester
thinking...
rooney- ade and mutch to lallana for a hit
but this seems a bit knee jerkey? I am tempted to save the transfer even. I am getting price rises most days atm. If I do save I still have mutch as a doubt and Olsson playing against everton.Open ControlsWould leave rooney in for now. Does his point total not mean anything on here at all? And yes Moyes' been playing him out of position and saying he's injured all this time.
Open Controls
This Stokes dude is good.
Open ControlsHey there Fantasy fellas,
How's this for a WC team when Aguero is back and if Ade is fit?
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=142a450&s=5#.UsZYVrSVJco
Your valuable thoughts and input is much appreciated.
(Coleman for Turner and Negredo for Aguero in the meantime)Open ControlsWhen are you WCing? Don't think I'd want 2 Arsenal defenders after Jan
Open ControlsI am WC right now. I can do Sagna to Coleman and Ade to Welback. WHat would be your suggestion. To be honest I think the first option would bring in more points.
Open ControlsYou don't have much money do you haha I'd keep Ade over Welbeck and look into Ditching Sagna after the Palace game in Feb.
Open ControlsHaha yea you got that right. Well thanks a lot bsloebadger, I'll def look into Sagna after Feb, but arsenals defence has been shockingly amazing so far cause they finally started defending from the forwards back.
Open ControlsI have 2 myself to me honest but dont think I could keep it up post wildcard. Have to put the money somewhere else. not rich myself either haha
Open Controls
Looks all right. Are you able to upgrade JWP?
Open Controlslooks decent, I don't like Sagna and don't know much about JWP. also not 100% sure Mannone is nailed on (though I think he is).
problem is your team is very templatized aside from Eriksen and Ade who are good punts (considering both myself).
what's your rank?Open ControlsMy rank is 1,163,189, but that's only because I started taking this seriously once the cup started. So far scored about 20 points above average each gameweek and blew all my opponents out of the water.
Open ControlsAs an aside, I shouldve at least played the market until the cup because my team value is now below average.
Open ControlsWhat's so special about the cup?
Open Controls
what's the most you've made from 0.2-0.3 rises during WC with players you aren't keeping? only facts, not "i think i made 2mil back in the day", thanks
Open ControlsWith the current market, you can expect to make 0.3 at most in my opinion.
Open Controls0.3 sounds about right. i'm not wildcarding btw. i just think people are paying too much attention to the duration of GW when they are figuring out when to play their WCs. GW can be 10 days and you make 0.3 profit or 7 days and you make 0.3 profit. i dont think it matters much if at all.
Open Controlsit's this that has me considering WCing on the 11th and then planning to have 2 FT's for GW24
Open ControlsI always try and save FT the GW after a WC to enable me to have 2 FT 2 weeks later. You will be surprised how much you can do with 2 FT's(Eg 3 trannies for -4)
Open Controls
I agree. It does make sense though to go for a longer GW though(if it fits into your over all plan) due to more time to get transfers news(Jan) or injury updates. And of course making some TV. No set rule though.
I don't feel comfortable "rushing" a WC in a 3 day period.Open Controls
gents any improvements u would do? shall i upgrade defense by downgrading midfield ?
Mannone / Marshall
Azpilicueta / Evans / Chester / Mariappa / Koscielny

i think i owned him all ye last year!Open Controls
I went from 390k to 149k during this hectic period so I'm reasonably pleased, but this still seems as one of the toughest years I have seen....
I have both my wildcards left, which impacts when I play my Jan wildcard.....
Currently set up as
Mignolet, Marshall
Ward, Kompany, Coleman, Clyne, Chester
Sterling, Walcott, Janucaz,Hazard, Ramsey
Negredo, Rooney, Suarez
And am pretty happy with my team, so don't feel the need of immediately playing a wildcard. All the talk above seems to lead that gw22, and gw24 is ideal for fixtures swing which is what I favour. Am I thinking right?Open ControlsI also find it exceptionally difficult this year.
GW1 202k
GW6 638k
GW13 5,779
GW19 23k
Not sure which GW is the best. It depends on the team, if there is an influx of high potential transfers, and current bandwagons..... go with your gut and learn from the outcome is the only thing I can say :confucius:Open ControlsWelcome onboard the DGW36WC bandwagon 🙂

0.1m left, 2nd team seems better, Coleman hate campajgn style 😉Open ControlsNot much for the Jan WC - I doubt any keepers will rise 0.2m, and with most active players having 4-6 players with too much value tied up to change them (eg Coleman, Mert, Yaya, Lallana, Hazard, Suarez), that leaves around 7-8 spots where you could trade for value. Even then, there are probably another 2-3 spots where you also have 0.1-0.5m of value tied up and won't want to get rid.
Absolute max of 0.5 selling value to be made IMOOpen Controlsagree

where are you from?Open ControlsKanada. I remember you Sinik. I once helped you decide that Totenhams defence is not as good as stats made it out to be, when they played Man city before letting in 6 goals. Any chance you can have a look at my WC team above. Attempting to plan for Aguero return right now.
Open ControlsCalifornia here. I don't remember that because I never though much of Spurs def..I might have considered Dawson when he was more of a cheapie but I'll take your word for it 😉
Open ControlsIt was more to decide with whether to captain aguero against spurs. Think you were also considering hazard and a few others but picked aguero at the end.

Open ControlsI'm thinking maybe Boruc when he's back
Open Controls
Do you plan to get Ramsey back in (with your WC?!) once he's fit again?
Open ControlsI'm planning to I think. Hazard and Yaya have risen beyond my reach and Ramsey may be able to continue to keep scoring pace with them for 3m cheaper.
Open ControlsReply fail to myself.
Open ControlsYou have to perform surgery to get hazard in. Hes a future ballon dor winner. His recent comments have been about Mou challenging him mentally to become a killer, a 30+ goal machine.
Not having Yaya is ok with Aguero and Silva back in the team.Open ControlsI dunno. His main strength seems to be that he's never injured, rested or rotated. He doesn't seem to take many shots and the goals he has scored recently have been from lucky deflections/keeper errors. Paying 10.4m+ for a player that those ahead of me got for 9.x doesn't seem like a good strategy to catch them up.
Open ControlsIm a Chelsea fan and have seen every game. What you see on the highlights is Hazard appearing to be lucky but hes anything but. He doesnt put away easy chances and his teammates screw up easy goals which leads to him not getting deserved assists.
Open ControlsThe consistency is the key. Not being rotated like the rest. He's had a few jammy goals alright but now he's actually playing well and scoring and assisting in nearly every game. He would've had bagged a goal or more assists last Saturday if Torres wasn't so useless haha On penos too without Lampard.
Open Controls
Just been comparing the value of premium defenders and premium mids and seeing some surprising results. I've looked at the extra points the premium players have got over the cheap players and to reduce risk of statistical randomness I compared the second best premium player to the second best cheap player -
