Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 5

Our Monday afternoon regular is rolled out once again, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Aston Villa
The Midlands outfit were hit hard by a virus prior to the weekend home defeat to Arsenal. Paul Lambert confirmed Darren Bent and Nathan Baker missed out altogether, whilst Ashley Westwood also failed to feature – he was initially named in the starting XI but was forced to drop out. Andi Weimann was also subbed off at the break after struggling to overcome the same problem.

Burnley
Clarets midfielder David Jones was subbed off after 86 minutes of the weekend goalless draw against Sunderland with “a minor thigh injury”.

Chelsea
Ramires was withdrawn on 63 minutes having suffered a knee injury. Early reports suggest that the Brazilian could face a term of absence with the midfielder undergoing scans early this week.

Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Philippe Coutinho missed the trip to West Ham due to a groin problem, while Jordan Henderson is being assessed after picking up a hip complaint.

Man United
Jonny Evans was withdrawn after just 30 minutes of United’s loss at Leicester with a leg problem and, post-match, Louis van Gaal admitted:

“I don’t know how bad Evans is. We have to wait for a scan tomorrow but he is on crutches.”

Newcastle
Cheick Tiote will be assessed after limping off towards the end of Saturday’s home draw with Hull.

QPR
The problems are building up in midfield for Harry Redknapp. Joey Barton and Jordon Mutch were passed fit for Saturday’s home clash with Stoke after heading into the match as doubts due to hamstring problems – both players were subsequently subbed off with a recurrence of the injuries, whilst Sandro missed out altogether due to a knee complaint.

Southampton
Both Maya Yoshida and James Ward-Prowse were forced off with ankle problems in the weekend win at Swansea. New boy Toby Alderweireld missed Liberty clash with a minor hamstring problem but is expected to be back next weekend.

Sunderland
Steven Fletcher and Ricardo Alvarez missed the Black Cats’ trip to Burnley due to a calf complaint and knock respectively, though the latter has since been passed fit for tomorrow’s Capital One clash with Stoke. Gus Poyet has also revealed that Emmanuel Giaccherini was forced off on his first start of the season and will be assessed:

“Giaccherini had plenty of energy, going between the lines and I think he was one of our best players. That was the idea of playing him; to create that little bit more. He was thereabouts, so it’s not bad from him. Unfortunately, he took a big knock which we need to check today.”

Swansea
Dwight Tiendalli missed the weekend home defeat to Southampton with a slight groin problem.

West Brom
Giorgos Samaras missed out through injury as the Baggies picked up a 1-0 win at Spurs yesterday.

West Ham
Midfielder Cheick Kouyate is set to undergo scans after picking up a groin problem against Liverpool on Saturday evening – the summer signing stayed on the field after Sam Allardyce had made all three substitutions.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Current team:

    Krul / Elliot

    Lovren / Bertrand / Caulker / Chester / Wisdom

    Hazard / Ramsey / Sterling / Siggy / Mutch

    Rooney / Costa / Naismith

    2mil ITB

    On the WC this week:

    FORSTER / MCCARTHY

    Lovren / Bertand / CHAMBERS / DUFF / Wisdom

Hazard / DI MARIA / Sterling / Siggy / Boyd

    Rooney / Costa / Welbeck

    0.5 ITB

I want Pelle, but feel Welbeck and Dimaria could be better than Pelle & Ramsey. Pull the trigger?

Anyone getting Aguero in this week?

He did look good against Chelsea (really did quite a bit besides scoring/assisting) and assuming he survives (if he plays) Sheffield could be a good pick up against Hull where City will want to definitely get 3 points given Chelsea play Villa..

OR are people going to wait until after Roma?

I wonder if he'll have international duties..

as a Rooney owner I'm worried that being permanently in mid (if LVG hasn't changed his mind about his pre-match comments, post-match) will make it so that his 10.4m pricetag isn't justified..

        1. Not Irish

Legitimate concern. But LVG said "He thinks so" when asked if #10 is Rooney's best position. I smell something foul.

            snowball effect..

            - had Vidic been told Moyes was likely getting the sack, he would have stayed.
            - our defense would be that much more solid and have that leadership in the back
            - we would also have a stand out captain option
            - Rooney would justifiably be dropped if being outperformed by RVP and Falcao without any nonsense 'forcing' LVG's hands

No doubt. But Rooney isn't undroppable by any means. And stripping him of the captaincy is probably the best thing LVG could do as right now it looks like his worst mistake to date.

2 FTs and 0 ITB, what would you do with this team this week?

    Krul / Gilks

    Wilson / PvA / Hutton / Moore / Dummett

    Ramsey / Fabregas / Sterling / Siggy / Albrighton

    Aguero / Costa / Rooney

      Thanks a lot lads!

Most tempting is Rooney/Ramsey to Welbeck/Di Maria, but Krul to mannome and save FT also sounds good.

Rooney/Krul to Welbeck/Forster is also an option.

    Foster (Krul)
    Terry Clyne Chambers (Moore Jones*)
Di Maria Ramsey Sterling Siggy (Marney)
    Rooney Costa Naismith*

    1FT 1.2 ITB

Thinking I'll do Krul to Heaton next GW but for this GW either:

    A) Naismith to Ulloa and play Chambers (TOT) or Moore (cpl)
    B) Jones to PVA and Naismith to Welbeck (-4) (Will bench Chambers for next two GWs and play PVA (SWA and STO) and play Chambers thereafter
    C) Jones to Duff and Naismith to Pelle (-4) (Duffs next two are wba and lei)
    D) Save

Pelle. Too many big names at Utd more likely to steal the limelight, plus I think Herrera's been lucky to score as well as he has so far. Fixtures toughen up now so he will have a more defensive role.

Whereas Pelle's fixtures are still good and he looks to be important to So'ton's goal-threat.

    Bego (McCarthy)
Clyne - Azpil - Pieters (Taylor & PvA)
    Siggy - Zaha - ADM - Fabregas - Sterling
    Costa (C) - Balotelli (Naismith)

2 FT's and £0.7m in the bank, what to do?

I was feeling Balotelli and Naismith for Pelle and Ulloa then switching to 3-4-3, are you feeling it?

I think that sounds OK, but would prefer to keep Naismith over Zaha for now.

i'm still seeing his name in RMWCTs

i really don't understand spending more than 9 total on GKs before January... but all the players who got Mignolet at the start of last year and DDG at the start of this year clearly know better

I have two free transfers but don't know what to do. Probably Zaha out but is there any interesting midfielders under 6.5m?

    Bego - McCarthy

    Clyne, Moreno, PvA, Wilson, Moore

    ADM, Sterling, Tadic, Siggy, Zaha

    Rooney, Balotelli, Adebayor

You wouldn't be playing whoever you bring in anyway so don't make a transfer?

I'd personally do Ade or Balo ➡ Pelle but otherwise, pretty solid.

      Good luck.

I've just bought a PS4 ahead of buying FIFA 15 and can certainly tell the difference playing the demo. Gameplay is amazing, quite realistic but not so realistic it spoils the enjoyment of the game. Next Gen graphics are pretty amazing too.
