With just one match remaining of the penultimate Gameweek, we delve into the members data once again this evening. We assess the recent displays of Villa, Everton and Swansea’s frontman, cast an eye over David Silva’s season, and also analyse the main men from Southampton, QPR and Palace’s midfields.
I'd go with B.. mind u i am a cfc fan
Not a fan of Costa. Lukaku/Bolasie?
i would go lukaku mata.. bolassie to unpredictable.. lukaku vs that tottenham defense can be gold. and mata on pens who knows...!
Would bringing Yaya in on a punt be too much chasing last weeks points? Already have Kun and Silva, but could be Yaya's last game at City and Soton defense not that great on the road.
I wouldn't if you already have silva and Kun.
Cheers
'ello
looking at Rambo + Giroud > Mata + Lukaku for free to give me:
...............Schmeichel
.......Terry - Smalling - Morgan
Albrighton - Mata - Silva - Sanchez
......Lukaku - Benteke - Aguero
Panti; Hendo, Skrtel, PvA
thoughts? other suggestions?Perfect. I wish i had this lineup
Some of the stats don't contribute to a defender being 'good'
Hopefully PSG's scouts look at that and give us 50MHaha......
@Ruth_NZ That article makes comparisons which do sound believable, but its simply someone trying very hard to undermine and then discredit Liverpool fans, firstly I would say YNWA is just a tradition we have, it serves no purpose other to show that the club, the players, staff and fans stand United in what they try to achieve - success on the pitch. Secondly to great lengths about how Liverpool fans talk of 'history' again trying to discredit us as cultists, the reason for Liverpool fans staunch defense of their 'history' or rather success is because Liverpool haven't been a force for over 25 years, how else could they react to 'banter' bow down and admit defeat? I'll happily admit history means nothing for the hear and now, I'm different, am I stripped of individuality? All this was simply to discredit Liverpool fans in some pretty intelligent banter, don't read into it too much. Also on the ex-Reds in the media bit, I think Thommo, Lawro, Hansen are all tools, they know no more than my dog.
History is past events. Thus Chelsea's title win is now history. So therefore it means nothing, right? I think history is important because it defines a club and give it an identity.
Of course, It's just it's of more importance to look to the future and not to dwell on the past, if you get what I mean.
I'm not saying I agree with everything in that article but I do think it has a grain of truth.
All clubs have "history". The problem with Liverpool is that for many fans their view of who is, or is not a big club is frozen in the 70s and 80s. Historically Everton were the senior club on Merseyside up until then and Liverpool were a lower league outfit at a similar level to Tranmere.
I am a Chelsea fan and I can tell you that taking the mickey out of ourselves is part of our DNA. The peculiar thing about Liverpool fans is that they seem singularly unable to do that. There does seem to be an element of something akin to religious fervour in that, doesn't there? So you're saying Liverpool's 'DNA' should be identical to that of Chelsea's? You can't compare the peculiarity of how Liverpool fans act to other clubs fans like United or Chelsea's who have had recent success, consider the time lapsed since we were the dominant European and even more so domestic force, and then take into account how much mismanagement the club has been through since then, it has suffered with a series of owners particularly Moores who did almost nothing to modernize the club and get it truly competing again, Liverpool fans act the way they do out of desperation for the success the club should be achieving (though not entitled to, that would be ridiculous to suggest)
... that is my theory on the whole 'history' thing anyway.
What kind of history that Chelsea have until roman taken over and splashed the cash?
Let's answer you, you do not have any history. This doesn't impact players efforts and Chelsea deserve to win the league this year or other titles throughout Roman's ownership
but your history is zilch and unfortunately and embarrassingly some of your fans are racist!
Look at the mirror before make any statements to other clubs and their historyA lot of the clubs, most likely all have 'bad fans', realistically all clubs have mission statements that show what they stand for, as others have said you just can't tar all groups with the same brush, it just doesn't work. So any attempts at discrediting any group can itself be discredited by some member usually.
There is a thin line between bad fans and racism.
Do you see any other clubs doing the same things as they did?So misinformed and biased it does not even deserve a response.
Just out of curiosity how much winning do Chelsea need to do since Roman took over before they have history?
Genuine question, I find it odd that this gets thrown around.
Chelsea are one of a handful of clubs to have won all the European trophies at least once, have now got 5 league titles overall and a bunch of cups. There's plenty historyChelsea had won the Leaugue, the FA Cup x 3, the League Cup x 2, the Cup Winner's Cup x 2 and the European Super Cup. Finished top 6 in the Premier League the 7 years prior (including 3rd in '99) and had qualified for the Champions League (and played in it, reaching the Quarter Finals in 2000).
To say Chelsea won more since Abramovich is undeniably to true, but to say they had 'zilch' history prior is obviously untrue.Your contradicting yourself, all the titles have been won since Roman took over.
All the titles he mentioned were pre-Roman. You are exhibiting an embarrassing lack of knowledge. Never heard of Wikipedia?
Immediately pre-Roman, Chelsea had qualified for Europe in 6 seasons out of 7. They also won a European trophy before Liverpool did ((Cup Winners' Cup in 1971).
Finally, history is something all clubs have. Part of Chelsea's history is a battle waged by the fans in the 80s to prevent Stamford Bridge getting into the hands of property developers and the club from going out of existence. You can dismiss things like that as "no history" but that's like saying Belgium isn't a real country.
"Fans" like you don't get to define what history is, sorry.
"The problem with Liverpool is that for many fans their view of who is, or is not a big club is frozen in the 70s and 80s. Historically Everton were the senior club on Merseyside up until then and Liverpool were a lower league outfit at a similar level to Tranmere."
Hold on, Liverpool won league titles and the FA Cup in the 1960s!Shankly arrived in 1964 if I recall correctly. Prior to that they were a lower league team for a long while and the "purple patch" for Liverpool was 70s and 80s. That's what I was referring to.
I currently have my important mini leagues wrapped up but I sit just outside the top 10k (hopefully tonight can put me there) and hope to finish with a 4 digit rank. Current rank is 12.5k
Does this rank make this more or less likely?
Kane & Ozil -> Lukaku & Bolasie -4Does this move*
I'm doing Kane to Lukaku and sit just outside top q10k
I wouldn't do that move hahaUnfortunately I don't think it will help much, but I'd take a punt since ML done
Is there a consensus on whether Kosh starts tonight?
Not sure what the consensus is but I'd personally be surprised if he didn't..
Sigurdsson or Bolasie for a last gwk punt?
I fancy a few goals in that game..Oops, apologies!
He is in my FPL team so there is no chance of him playing
I don't expect him to be risked
No consensus ... I think he'll play
Thanks all. Don't think it's a risk to play him, he had a cold not a a muscle injury. Looked ok in training yesterday
Who knew a simple game (football) with the idea to entertain could cause so much hatred. I enjoy American sports because generally the fans get along...even if it's the rival team. You don't act barbaric and shout abuse at them.
That must be amazing. Sadly, some fans in EPL take things in a different manner. There is a thin line between banter and showing respect to your opponent.
It's because in American sports the fans aren't really fans (fanatics) who'll fervently support their own team and shout abuse at others (within reason 😉 ). I'll agree wit Ruth_nz on that about football fans. 😉
This mostly happens in football. Many other non US sports are more civilized as well.
I have yet to see a fight break out at the snooker for example. Even in the Barmy Army stand in the cricket it is good natured.
My MLS team. What's yours? 😉
http://i.gyazo.com/75c803e5da8fa1ee7562605f9822fd6d.pngHere is what I'm currently going with this week...
Melia (NE,sea)
Waston (col) - Dia (NE,sea) - Opare (ne)
Tchani (CHI) - Finlay (CHI) - Feilhaber (NE,sea) - Rolfe (ne)
Larin (sj) - Agudelo (skc,DC) - Dwyer[c](NE,sea)
I've got a couple Colorado guys but leaving them on the bench this week. and, I'm looking to bring in Dempsey and Giovinco, but finances are tough and it is tricky with all of these double game weeks rolling through every week.
Don't know if I'll bring him in, but got my tickets to see Gerrard in a few games once the second half of the season rolls around...
Moreno & Kane -->
A) Kolarov & Ulloa
B) Huth & GomisA is entertaining move
B is yawnMind you, any move with lolarov is always entertaining 🙂
I won my ML already.
I never owned lolarov
So Gru. Clyne out
Lukaka. Lolarov in
Yay or NayLord Kolarov beckons... 😉
Skrtel > Kolarov for me this week...(MLs won already)
Yep
yay
Go for it
for free or a hit? 😛
YayHit
50/50 then.
Can picture it and almost hear the chants now..."Diego Diego Diego " ringing around Stamford Bridge at 16.40 as he subbed off for the champions after firing 4 goals and a assist in a 7-0 hammering of Sunderland as the the champions see off the season in style and their main hit man sends out a warning to the rest of the league for next season.
*waits for joke about being sent off before half timeTo be honest, I can see him scoring a goal or two too. Chelsea will have to put in a solid display after WBrom game. And celebrate in style.
Hope so, el capitan, only 950 transfers in so far this week too, less than half as much as Wasiklewski
Being sent off before half time would still be a warning of sorts to the rest of the league for Diego. 😀
It's a possibility but surely Jose won't want him suspended too for start of next season
0-0?
No chance, over 4.5 goals easy will be having a bet on that too
Chelsea have looked poor since they clinched, especially Hazard.
1FT.. 2.9 ITB i need to win a head to head in my league
oponnent has sterling ..what should i do?
ramsey to hazard
or ramsey to mata and kane to benteke (-4)
other mid are silva sanchez ramsey grealish
aguero kane giroudFelipe Luis worth a punt for a defensive transfer?
Nay
Decent chance of cleanie. Will probably play the full 90. Who else would you suggest for 5.4m or less?
I don't think he will start and he was terrible vs WBrom.
Back to Azpili
What makes you think he'll play?
Started the last 2 matches. Meaningless final match v Sunderland. Can see Mourinho giving him another run out since he's had limited minutes this season.
I think Azpilicueta will play. He's arguably there best defender. Mourinho also said he would play the side that basically won them league.
This!
Maybe Janmaat is the better option.
Think there will be goals in that game. Janmaat could get an assist though.
Oh really? Didn't realise he said that. Might have a rethink.
Nah. Just buy someone who will definitely play
Kurtinho
It's that time again, you know the drill.
Lukaka(c)Hehe 😛 I'm actually considering this!
Should we do it for real this time?
Shite!!
I wanted to do Clyne and Gru out
Lolarov and Lukaka in
Just checked and 0.2 short
FFS!
Maybe I will do only Gru out for lukaka thenI'll be going Cazorla > 5.7m or less and Kane > Lukaku (c) for free.
PVA & Fabregas > Coleman and Siggy? Punt time ... Already won mini leagues that matter
I like Coleman but Siggy is too boring 😛 even though it's a sensible option.
There's a problem in fantasy football where players rate a team's overall chances of winning a match based on their reputation as a club instead of by their form.
For example, the way Sunderland have been playing lately and the way Chelsea have been playing lately..you'd have to be crazy to think Chelsea will just run amok. We're on the same wavelength
I agree, it will be a close one.
"There's a problem in fantasy football...etc"...this isn't a problem...it's an opportunity
👿
I like the way you think
Agree
What is the best punt on captain this GW if you always win the league?
A) lukaku
B) Benteke
C) Ulloa/Vardinho
D) lolarovIf u already *
Lukakakakukuku
A or C Ulloa
A or B.
A
A) Heaton - > Schmeichel, play Philips
B) Clyne - > Cahill, play along with Ivano but bench Philips.
C) Giroud - > Viable striker.C
C
C
Morning all.
ARS midfielder -> Adam (LIV)
Worth a hit or not?😯 No!
Phew
No wayHmm.. I thought one the probability of Sanchez/Rambo?santi to be rested is very high
English fail
So Warriors vs Rockets
Curry vs the beard
Let the game beginLET'S GO DUBS
Wow!
Can;t watch it since I'm at wrok 🙁
Please update me, dear LRHopefully a good game. Really should be.
I'm upset at the draft though. Knicks only getting number 4 sucks. Curry was a blow years back too. Safe to assume number 4 this year could be made available.C'mon ... Hawks vs. Ducks will be much more fun to watch ...
Doubt it, I think Hawks vs Warriors final written all over
I'm talking Hockey. NHL
I was trying to choose between these transfers but now I am thinking what the hell.
Sterling>Silva
and
Giroud>Lukaku
For a hit?Defo, looks good.
Yeah, one last roll of the dice is in order I think. Just wait to see how my Arsenal players come through tonight then I will do it.
Yeah as I say I own 3 arsenal mids and I certainly don't want 3 last week but have no clue which one to get rid of.
See that is the problem with Arsenal midfielders all over. So much talent between them but it is damn near impossible to select the right one each week.
It's why I went with 3 to cover as any bases as possible. Problem is I now don't know who to get rid off. Sanchez, ozil and caz. At least one will be rested, maybe 2 but which ones dammit!!?
Pick one:
A) Lukaku
B) Bentake
C) GiroudLukaku
Not c) the other two I would be happy owning either for last week. Slight concern over benteke mins with the final and relegation avoided.
A or B. Sorry
Mini league sorted. 80 points up. Therefore nothing to lose
Arsenal mid (I own 3) Kane, graham (what was I thinking) to ulloa costa and Milner/ bolasie. All for a -8. Don't see a huge reason why not.....Can't help but think Benteke and Lukaku would be better options for a similar overall price upfront
Originally was going benteke but concerned with his mins and villas defencive response after last week. Lukaku interests me but has let me down so many times in the past.
Benteke even managed to score last week in the demolition! Every forward lets you down sometimes.
Yeah true. Benteke is the form option but can u see him getting a rest at all? My issue with lukaku is every time u expect a decent haul and even consider him for the armband he always disappoints. Unpredictable points scorer to say the least.
Yeah we all have had that. But surely Ulloa is no more reliable?
True, but he plays qpr at home. Willing to punt on that! Never owned him either...
I have.
I know we have all ignored Lukaku this season but if you have a quick scan of where he has got his points they are against the weaker teams. Maybe he is more reliable now?
Mata against Hull, who's with me!? 😀
Could be golden. Personally I am trying to avoid players playing aginst teams who still have something to play for. Hull will need to win and maybe united will go easy on their former captains team
doubt it honestly..I see LVG going out with a bang..he has no ties to Bruce and the last thing the club will want is the perception that they lay down for former players to help them avoid relegation..Hull will have to earn it
Hull will be playing for their lives...
and therefore be very, very open. 😉
It will depend. They will more open as the game goes on. If Hull sneak an early goal they will park more busses than Stagecoach
they won't get an early goal I don't think given the way United played vs Arsenal..but you're def right there
These things are always unlikely but that kind of thing does happen sometimes.
Indeed.
Remind me again, McShane is a LB/RB? Would be a dream duel for either Young or ValenciaLB, Mata plays RW 😉 😉
Not Antonio?
been playing RB for a while now..makes overlapping runs but he lines up as a fullback
Ah, forgot about that. A RWB, just like Young at LWB aight. I think he's going to benefit most.
eh he's not that good going forward anyways haha
not a fan of him but feel obliged to post this:- 😉
http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/415996/Michael-Carrick-Antonio-Valencia-Manchester-United
Considering the opponents they will have to play it tight and counter attacking game for the first hour at least. Their not going to go gung-ho and leave themselves open conceding early goals.
hmmmmmm I suppose you're right
but I doubt they'd want to leave themselves only a single half of football or 30 minutes to score a crucial goal if it's still 0-0 that late
It's one of those damned if you do damned if you don't situations. It would be worse to be 3-1 down after 1 hour then 0-0 though. Not sure they can match Man U trading attacking blows in an open match.
yeah that's true..will have to look carefully at the pressers but I don't want more than Sanchez vs WBA (looking at selling Rambo and Giroud to Mata and Lukaku)
I've got 3 arsenal mids and don't have a clue which one to sell. Hopefully later today will gives a better idea.
I can't see Rambo playing WBA if Arsenal beat Sunderland, even if Arsene has 6 days before the cup final
Meh ... Hull will try parking a bus
Actually, could be tasty .. Hull do need to score
I don't think parking the bus will be the game plan of a team that needs a win to go through. Only if they score first (and early).
Early push for a goal but keeping it solid at the back. If that fails, don't concede and stay in the game until mid second half, then push like crazy for the goal they need. That should be the basic tactic.
I agree
@Kurtinho
Many will disagree, but Adam is the guy you're looking forA) Sterling + Ozil > Mata + Silva for -4
or
B) Sterling + Ozil + Giroud > Mata + Silva + Benteke for -8
have a 30 pt lead on my rival and he has Silva, Sanchez, and Hendo as differentials. Atleast this will match Silva. This is my first season on this site.
What would you do?
cheersSterling+giru →benteke/lukaku + silva?
I've just looked at Burnley's last 12 results and I'm deffo getting Benteke in, especially now that Villa are safe and have an FA Cup final 6 days later.
4 CS in the last 9 PL games since Duff returned. They lost 0-1 in 4 games (1 when Duff was red carded), maximum 2 goals conceded. Are we reading the same stats?
I have Benteke but I'm not feeling that optimistic.BUR main problem about staying up is mainly their lack of goals, their D is very decent imo
#sarcasm
I got it 🙂
😉
If Newcastle stay in the league they will surely improve defensively next season (could they get worse?) Janmat with a half decent defence could be a massive point scorer.
If Newcastle stay up and invest in the team I think Janmaat sale will be part of what funds it. I think he'll be gone.
But interesting option if he stays and Newcastle spend
Last two transfers of the season in the ESPN game.... 🙁
1. Mane and Giroud to Bolasie and Costa
Or
2. Alder and Giroud to Kolarov and Lukaku
If I go for the first move, not sure that Bolasie plays, as he'll be behind Hazard, Sanchez, Ozil, and Silva, but would provide some cover if there ends up being shuffle of the Arsenal mids. If I go for the second move, Alder won't play either way, but if I get Kolarov, that will push Trippier to the bench, and Lukaku obviously slots into the front line. Had also been considering Cisse, but he's dropped further down the list.
So, Trippier and Costa with Mane as first sub or Kolarov and Lukaku with Bolasie as first sub if that's an easier/better way to think about it.
9 years, 1 month ago
I'm contemplating transferring out Giroud and Ramsey with 2 freebies as I can see them getting rested for FA cup final. I can afford either:
A) Costa (SUN) & Bolassie (SWA)
or
B) Lukaku (TOT) & Mata (hul)
3 points off top in ML so crucial decision.
