It’s time to assess my progress in PlayON this afternoon as our Friday regular is rolled out again. Armed with an opening pot of £100 for each game, I’ve been tasked with turning that cash into profit and will be updating you on how I’m getting on prior to the start of each Gameweek.
There’s £2,500 available in guaranteed pots this week in www.PlayON.co as well as £150 on offer in free-to-enter games. For the weekly timeframe there’s the usual £1000 guaranteed contest for £5.50 entry as well as the £100 game for £1.10.
For those willing to stake more, though, there are £20 and £50 fee games for pots of £500 and £250 respectively. In the daily time frames, there’s a £250 guaranteed contest on both Saturday and Sunday for £5.50 and also £25 free entry games on both days. You can view all games in the Games Lobby here.
I’ll be putting five teams into the weekly £100 free-roll game, so will run through one of those entries below…
My Team
Firstly, I’ve gone for Artur Boruc as my keeper – the price tag of 6.1m looks set to offer value as Sunderland make the long trip down to Dean Court. Bournemouth team-mate Simon Francis (6.6m) finds a place in the backline along with another player mentioned in the Weekly Shop, Jordan Amavi, the Villa left-back costs 6.8m this week. I’ve gone for four full-backs in defence, Daryl Janmaat (6.8m) picked up eight assists last season so finds a place as Newcastle host Watford. I proposed the inclusion of Joe Gomez (6.3m) in the Weekly Shop but have some extra funds so pick Nathaniel Clyne (7.8m) instead as Norwich travel to Anfield.
In midfield, I have Jack Grealish (7.5m) – the Villa youngster should start against West Brom after netting last week against Leicester. Andre Ayew (9m) has scored in Swansea’s last two home matches so finds a spot despite facing an Everton side that have kept back-to-back clean sheets on the road. I’ve gone with double City midfielders with space for both David Silva (14m) and Yaya Toure (12.5m). For the forwards, I’ve backed Christian Benteke (11.6m) – the Liverpool striker could bag a third goal of the season against a Canaries side that are yet to record a shut-out this term. Last but not least, I’m backing Harry Kane (11.1m) to deliver a first goal of the campaign as Crystal Palace visit White Hart Lane.
The Bottom Line
My pot continues to diminish with the worst run I’ve ever had in PlayON. I can’t seem to catch a break so far this season and have been damaged – as many have – by continuing to back big-hitters like Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez. I’m now down to £70.64 and really need to pick up some wins. I failed to win a single game in Gameweek 5, things can only get better though?
This Week’s Stake
Weekly – I put the customary five entries into the £100 freeroll. I also enter the £100 game that has a £1.10 fee and three head-to-heads for the same stake.
Daily – The full quota of teams goes into the free £25 games.
Stake – £4.40
Current Balance – £66.24
As a PlayON Pro it’s possible for you to challenge me one-on-one in all three time-frames this week – these games are not included in the £100 challenge and operate separately.
If you’ve finished tinkering with your Fantasy Premier League team, why not head on over to PlayON to get involved. Line-ups can be chosen and altered up to the first kick-off of each time frame.
