Fixture Ticker Preview Video

With attentions turning towards the start of the Premier League campaign, we’ve published a new video previewing our Fixture Ticker tool.

The Fixture Ticker is long established as a key component on the site and has evolved into a vital tool for all our visitors, not least our Members, who enjoy a host of features to aid fixture analysis and selection strategies.

This video acts as both an introduction to the Fixture Ticker, highlighting how it’s launched and how the free version can be used, plus a guide for those with access to the Members version. It can be viewed as a whole or you can jump to the chapters that may interest you.

Those familiar with the Fixture Ticker should certainly note the chapter on rotation, which demonstrates how the Members ticker can be used to analyse potential pairings – a new feature for this season. You can see that element of the Ticker explained in full here.

This really is a powerful addition. By selecting any team and hitting “sort by rotation”, the ticker now ranks those teams most appropriate for rotation with the highlighted team over the Gameweek range you choose to display. You can apply this using both the attacking and defence filters to analyse rotation pairings in attack and defence. View this chapter to see this explained in full.

Here’s a rundown and links to all the chapters included:

    Have Guerreiro and Meunier already.
What do you think? Currently thinking I'll double up with Vertonghen or Pepe, on Verts atm.

    A) Giaccherini
    B) Taylor
    C) Vertonghen
    D) Pepe

Better odds for Milik to score, or for Poland to keep a clean sheet?

Gomis, Giroud, Long, Rondon, Defoe, Carroll all better than him by far!

Saving WC for the Semi's to be fair isn't a great idea.

    1. The non-WCers have a template squad already. And for the SF, you couldn't predict who will concede and who wouldn't. Imagine Poland, Belg, Ger, Fra in semis. You would load up on Belgium defenders with the WC and maybe 1/2 Germans for the SF. But is putting all eggs on the same basket a really good tactic. If a team qualifies for semis, they haven't been lucky.
    2. Again, for the attackers who you could easily replace with 6 transfers for SF. KDB, Haz, Payet, Griezmann, Gomez(If he qualifies),Ronaldo(If he) are players you wouldn't want to get rid of.
    3. Again, the SF has 2 matchdays. You would have captaincy options for those days anyway.

Cheers. Hope you wildcard like I did 🙂

Spread your assets, run a few permutations for a semi line-up, hedge you bets and hide behind the sofa ...

      Or

Bulk up on Germany France and Belgium and hide behind the sofa ...

Arsene Wenger is at the top of the FA's list of candidates to replace Roy Hodgson as England manager. (Daily Star)

Gareth Southgate could be in temporary charge of England for up to a year with the FA ready to wait for the right permanent manager to become available. (The Mirror)

This doesn't really solve his problem of getting more first-team football but I think Leicester could really do with him as an extra backup up front as they're playing in Europe and trying to defend a title with a relatively small squad.

Which of these four is the least important to own and would you -4 for all of them?

Hazard, Giaccherini, french defence, french attack

First three are rivals differentials that I really want to cover.

I would not take a -4 for anyone in this game. French defence is probably the least necessary.

With so many transfers available in these knockout rounds, I'm finding hard to see a situation where you need to make 5 transfers to cover one specific dangerous differential. If you think he's that dangerous you cover him first and ignore getting a full squad of 15 if necessary.

Liverpool mids were a minefield last season with the European rotation as well.

How does Mane fit in with Coutinho, Firmino, Milner, Henderson, Can, Ibe, Lallana.

Will Firmino and Mane be classed as forwards? Benteke is no doubt in line to leave.

      1. Van Klinkert Delarosa
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 2 months ago

Firmino will be most likely classed as Forward.

We gonna see some serious rotation next season, even without extra European games. Klopp showed that he's not afraid to pick players based on opponent.

        Would love to see this tho;

        Mane - Firmino - Coutinho
        - - - - - Sturridge

          • 10 Years
          8 years, 2 months ago

I think this line up best sums up what happens to Lallana and Ibe. Milner, Hendo, Can and Lucas then fight for the central two spots.

          1. Van Klinkert Delarosa
            • 10 Years
            8 years, 2 months ago

Klopp loves Lallana, but same can't be said for Ibe. Shame. I think Lallana gonna be rotated with Mane.

Can will be guaranteed a spot in midfield, which I don't like. Lucas for backup and occasional emergency CB. Milner and Hendo need to fight for that last spot. Oh, don't forget about Matip too.

              • 10 Years
              8 years, 2 months ago

I'd be surprised if Klopp is spending £30m+ on a rotation option. Lallana's probably the first sub on and first back-up to injuries but with everybody fit I'd expect the line-up above to be the settled line-up.

Of course with Sturridge in there 'everybody fit' is a bit a taboo phrase on Merseyside so Lallana may get game time be default.

              8 years, 2 months ago

I've just realised we completely forgot to mention Welsh Jesus in the middle of the park too!

What's the deal with Matip? In on a free, is he expected to be back up?

I think we could see one of Hendo, Milner and Lucas leave tbh.

Matip can play as DM too, I think he would be second fiddle to Lovren - Sakho, since both of them finished strong last season.

                Lucas most likely. Shame.

Problem with Sakho is he had a lot of off the field stuff going on last season and would go missing mentally in games.

We matched Chelsea at about 39 million but in the end looks like he has chosen to go without European footy next season lol

They do have Ings, and Origi too. I wouldn't be surprised if Tekkers goes because their squad is growing but I don't think we'll see a wholesale flush this summer. Maybe a couple more go in January and next summer as Klopp sees how Mane and other new signings fit into the squad.

Really hope they sell most of them soon, I'll never understand either the ridiculous Ings signing or Lallana.

Had a lot of hope for Tekkers, but he's just not cut out for a system as rigorous as Klopp's. It's a lot of investment in bang-on average strikers. All that money could've been put to good use to invest in a top-tier player from any of the top 5 leagues. At least Firm did great for a first season, everyone here doubted him, glad he came through

This might be one of those rare times I disagree with you on your first sentence 😮

IMO , Ings would have been great at Poop and under Klopp's if he had stayed fit. Lallana , although overpriced , has always been consistently decent for Liverpool. A good squad player and the only natural no.10 in Liverpool's squad

I'm not sure thereEH, I didn't watch the PL past January tbh, (maybe a lot changed?) but Lallana was disappointing in my eyes. At least he put in a good stint in back-tracking, other than that in that first half of the season under Klopp, he was average at best imo. Poor delivery, average crosses, poor shot-selection, he had Willian-esque vibes of 2014/15 levels of killing final balls & build-up in the final third.

The price they paid for a glorified sub is absurd in my view. Depth is great & all, but I don't think there's much to write home about regarding Lallana. No real blatant strengths or obvious weaknesses, just an average playmaker.

Not confident about Ings there, verdict may still be out, but I certainly don't he's cut for a first team based off what I saw at Burnley. Class below all four of Sturridge, Firm, Mané & Cout. He's pacey I guess, but technically there isn't anything noteworthy here.

"Willian-esque vibes" - No , Willian is worse. I am 100% sure. Willian has never scored more than 5 goals(helped by a lucky FK streak) in one league season EVER.

Now back to Lallana , he has been much better post January co-incidentally. 😀
My point with Lallana is that he is never very bad nor very good. He is bankable unlike Coutinho who will just randomly start shooting from all over the pitch on his day. He operates well in tight spaces and was one of England's best players at the Euros IMO.

Ings was in good form just before the injury and looked like a proper top striker.
'technically there isn't anything noteworthy here.' - I thought Ings strength was his bouncy close , dribbly thing more than his pace. Example - https://youtu.be/nFVFKMAStZA

                        Ha 😉

& fwiw Firm is most certainly a natural #10, this was where he excelled at in Hoffenheim & was one of the best Bundesliga players in 2014/15. So no, Lallana is not the only natural number 10 😉

I can see your point about him being reliable. Yet, if all are fit, I can't see a time (bar injury), where Lallana starts in a front four of Studge/Cout/Firm/Mané. What Liverpool have needed for a while now

*while now is a player who can excel in the wing, Lallana is most certainly not a winger & pales in comparison to Firm at #10. My main point is that neither Ings or Lallana are not needed imo, & if that money could be put in to good use, I'm all for it. (Ibe can sub as a winger perfectly fine too btw)

Firmino has been average - this season at least - as a #10. His best performances came as a striker and when Origi and Sturridge came into the fold , his form deteriorated. Hopefully , he does better next season. My other problem with Firm as #10 is that he doesn't involve the players around him , he is too direct. His position might be as a #10 but his role is like a winger .

Every team needs bench players who are reliable. Lallana is that. Also , lets not forget that Ings is only 23 years old!

How much do you think Liverpool will get by selling Lallana and Ings? 20 million tops for Lallana and maybe 15 for Ings? Now , if they sell Lallana , their only AMs are Firmino , Coutinho , Mane & Milner , Ibe.

Lallana is better than Milner & Ibe imo.

That's alright in my view, Liverpool have invested way too much in depth these last three seasons. The Suarez money has been laughable for the most part under BR imo. Much rather have a quality striker who will inevitably replace Sturridge 90% of the season when injured. There's even rumours that a Tekkers sell is on the cards 😯

Their transfers from 2013-15 were abysmal - Sakho, Illori, Aspas, Kolo, Luis Alberto, Balotelli, Markovic, Lallana, Can, Lambert, Lovren, Moreno

But since 2015 , its been good - Origi, Firmino, Clyne, Milner, Gomez, Ings, Benteke, Bogdan & Karious , Mane , Matip , Grujic.

Yup, I agree, Klopp's steering them in the right direction. It's really that striker spot that's a problem right now

Man I wish I pushed you harder for Firmino in fantrax before he exploded!

Recruitment is a hard process, even when you've got Suarez/Sterling money to spend. As a club in Liverpool's position, do you spend ~ 3 x £20m and hope a one of them becomes a star/ two of them well exceed expectations, or do you spend £60m on a star and hope he's not a bust. With European competition in play and Sturridge being fragile, I think in their last round of recruitment they got it right to diversify over banking it all on someone like Di Maria or Higuain. This time round though, adding Mane to the already crowded mix does seem a bit iffy - maybe Klopp does have an idea of who's surplus to reqs.

Oh there's no doubt there, not every signing will be golden goose. I agree with the logic, yet a lot of these were signed under BR & the 'moneyballers'. Those are the ones I'm hesitant abut more than anything. Most of those 2014/15-ish signings were just surplus to requirements.

I understood signing Firm, Tekkers, Milner, & Clyne, those were all needed at the time. They've performed well to boot.

I'm worried its going to be a rotation nightmare. Luckily their first 5 weeks of fixtures are trash so we can sit back and watch them and see who emerges as actually viable. I'd love Firmino to play 90 minutes every week next season, which I think is possible this time as they don't have any European football to contend with.

I think Umtiti might be fools gold on a wildcard. Sure he should be great for the quarter-finals but going forward he is a guaranteed transfer out with Rami returning from suspension.

The only caveat to this might be if we need a 4.0 enabler in the semis just to get 14 other players out, in which case shrinking our usable squad from 15 to 14 could be for the greater good of the side.

Haha that's the only reason there's hype around him on here! If people were paying a price nearer to Koscielny/Evra/Sagna they wouldn't be considering him for one game only.

Any player receiving their second yellow card of the tournament in the quarters will be suspended for the semis. With that in mind here's the suspension tightrope:

    Portugal: William Carvalho, Pepe, Quaresma

    Wales: Taylor, Ramsey, Davies, Vokes

Belgium: Meunier, Vertonghen, Fellaini, Witsel, Batshuayi

Germany: Hummels, Kimmich, Boateng, Ozil, Khedira

Italy: Buffon, Sirigu, Bonucci, Barzagli, Chiellini, De Sciglio, De Rossi, Insigne, Eder, Zaza, Pelle

    France: Koscielny, Giroud

Iceland: Halldorsson, Arnasson, Gudmundsson, Skulason, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Sigthorsson, Saevarsson, Bjanason, Gunnarsson

I love that even Sirigu managed to pick one up against Ireland 😆

Germany's is worrying at the back too and Griezmann or Sigthorsson could have a field day whoever they face in the semis!

Cheers Balders. I totally neglected this the last round and even just Rami's suspension has kind of pushed me to wildcard now.

      Thanks for this.

Something I completely overlooked in the last round of games.

      Giroud is a bit annoying!

Taylor, Ramsey, Meunier, Ozil and Giroud for me. And I want to get Buffon and possibly Grosicki.

Currently have Kosc Payet Giroud without any trades

Is Griezmann essential. Should I do Giroud>Griezmann?

      Nobody is essential.

I think there is value in France's forwards v Iceland, Payet-Giroud-Griezmann are all in my team along with the Belgian double delight of Hazard-KdB and happy-go-lucky again Cristiano from Portugal (with an avg of 10 shots per game he is ought to score/assist)... Germany's offence will certainly struggle against the staunch Italians making them less attractive and more obvious to steer away from them...

I currently have 7 players out with no wildcard. Available team...

    Hennessey

    Jed Meunier

    Haz KDB Payet

    Ronaldo Gomez

With 4 free transfers which positions would you fill? I'm thinking 2 x defenders, a mid and Griezmann. Would anyone advise a hit in this situation? Thanks

I am wanting to transfer in Guer from Portugal for next round as I need to free up funds - would you...

    A) switch for Rami who is out to gain pts (keeping Jed)

    or

    B) switch for Jed and keep Rami for next round?

Also - if Guer doesn't play - best 4.0m option? Gamble on Umiti?
