We delve into the Gameweek data now in our first members article of the week. Amongst this evening’s topics for analysis are Liverpool, Stoke and Southampton’s midfielders, Swansea and West Brom’s frontmen, Man United’s full-backs and Palace’s summer signing with a penchant for a pot shot.
Good for you.
Could easily happen
Good good. The rationale?
They struggled to break down Sunderland despite having that much possession.
The full backs are still not fully sure on their new positions under Pep and even if they are it leaves huge gaps on the wings to exploit, Arnautovic and Shaqiri will exploit that.
Stoke sit deep, City keep possession, Stoke break. 2-0Well thought through.
* changes cap'n to Ibra
Aguero likes playing Stoke....
i think aguero hatty coming and huge city win
I think Manchester will beat City
As long as Kun scores, I don't really care. 🙂
Is there any anti knee-jerk meditation podcasts? Just did Gray->Carroll after promising myself I would keep faith. Someone help I think I'm addicted to tinkering.. did 79 transfers last year.
Are there*
I had to teach myself to just look at the price rises everyday instead of at my actual team, that kept me from actually making changes and taking hits. Think of all the points you lost with hits!
I know.. But the fun is what its all about.. I still managed to get 90k.. this season has started well for me im at 4k so I'm thinking I should be smart and try and play properly this time out.
Don't know how many transfers I made last year, but I was pretty risky in the beginning, then got settled into a team and took very few hits. Best season yet last year, 833OR. Don't think I'll beat it as I got off to a rough one. Anyway, good luck this year, mate!
Suggestions please -
Foster
Valencia / Stones / Fuchs*
Hazard / Redmond / Townsend / Firmino
Kun / Zlatan / Long*
Bench - Jako / Friend / Capoue / Pieters
A) Save FT
B) Long > Rondon
C) Fuchs > 5.0/4.5
D) Something else
Also would you play Friend or Fuchs?I would actually do Long->Carroll but Rondon looks decent also. Smart option probably to save but FTP.
FTP?
phuck the pow-lice
FTP means something significantly more offensive im from 😆
Haha what is that?
😯
File Transfer Protocol
Save. No point changing till week 3.
Play Fuchs.this
A
luv your grav. One of my favourite EPL players.Always first on my Fantasy Footy team sheet back in the day
those days! 😀
We literally have the same team except Long and Stones lol. Probably saving is the best option.
A. Gray --> Rondon
B. Feghouli --> RamirezB - but only if you're changing your starting XI. Don't change bench fodder for the sake of it at this stage
Both pretty sideways this week imo.
B
This was my GW1 team-
Foster
Valencia / Baines / Amat
Hazard / Redmond / Townsend / Firmino
Kun / Zlatan / Gray
Bench - Jako / Friend / Feghouli / EvansSave the transfer.
Gonna do just that. Thank you,
Balotelli price fail. Really, people had him? People who must follow football enough to play fantasy football but not realise he's miles from the first team?
Autopick.
Anyone???
Is there any chance for Kaikai to play for CP at all?
Great pre season, not even on the bench GW1???
Thanks for help...I don't think so in the short term. He's a great player though and will play for them in the future I reckon.
TY...
great future, but at 20 he should get his chace ASAP
Guys, what do we think of Walcott?
Only 7.5, and will play for sure with Arsenals injuries...Wouldn't touch him. He'll be out of the team by GW4
FPL gold if he stays in the team.
- 4.0 Defender Watch
4.0 Defender Watch...
JORDI AMAT
- Still in pole position for the 4.0s. Nothing to suggest he'll lose his place until Swansea sign a new CB.
Verdit: Safe for now
STEPHEN KINGSLEY
- http://goo.gl/gNfkkE - "Neil Taylor says he’s ready for Premier League action after playing 82 minutes for the development squad on Monday."
- Taylor is undoubtedly first choice. Kingsley did enough in GW1 to get another game, but it's only a matter of time.
Verdict: At risk this GW or next
MARC WILSON
- Marc Wilson moved to Bournemouth this week - who currently have Steve Cook and Simon Francis at CB.
- HOWE: Marc Wilson will bring us experience. He has shown in his first training that he has leadership qualities and is very competitive.
- Francis made a mistake vs United, but Adam Smith played well and scored. I'd expect them to keep their places for now, as Howe is a loyal man - but Wilson will be breathing down Francis' neck.
Verdict: Keep an eye after the internationals.
🙂Cheers! 🙂
🙂
Just to clarify on BOU, they'll probably line up:
- A Smith Francis Cook Daniels; or...
- Francis Wilson Cook Daniels.
There are other options with Ake (likely to play in mid) and B Smith (likely back-up) but the above two are most likely. Therefore, Wilson getting in depends on:
- how Francis plays at CB... he did well filling in last season, but obviously mistake vs Utd
- AND how A Smith plays at RB... this is Francis' best position and Francis is v unlikely to be dropped completely, so he'd move to RB is Smith isn't playing great and Howe wants Wilson at CB.
🙂Thanks for this!
These cheap defenders can really make a difference. During last year I put no thought at all into having Matt Targett as my bench fodder defender - he was just plain cheap. Then he got auto-subbed into my 11 and delivered some good points - even an assist if I remember correctly.
Some on FFS will be giving Amat a starting place in GW 2 and I might even be among them.Donald Love, Sunderland?
This
Yeah, Donald Love could end up being the best pick of them all - just not sure how likely he is to keep his place.
Yeah I had Donald Love in my squad for gw 1. 3rd sub but still good to see him get a start.
Yeah, Love will be a nice player to have if he keeps his place.
Wouldn't say Taylor is "undoubtedly first choice." Kingsley got some matches at the end of last season and is very highly rated at the club. I think he could oust Taylor and make the position his own
I imagine there's a good chance that newly signed Dutch CB from Ajax, Van Der Hoorn will take Amat's place as they may be about to phase him in? Also Francis is unlikely to be dropped as he's captain and was a regular last season too.
I completely disagree with reference to Kingsley. Better player than Taylor and should keep his spot
Best choice this week?
1) Play Gradel (bench Capoue)
2) Play Capoue (bench Gradel)
3) FT Gradel to Redmond
Rest of mid Hazard, Lamela, Firmino. Cheers3) If you plan to start Redmond
1
redmond is no brainer so 3 !
Only other thing is I have Vardy and if I got Red wouldnt be able to swap to Ibra
Told ya, 1 is the best
3
Struggling between 2 choices here, any opinions?
A) Redmond + Ibra
B) Siggy + Rooney
Thanksa
A) for me, reckon Rooney might lose his spot in team at some point
I'm thinking about bringing in A for hit.
I'm tempted to bring in Rooney for no hit, but I can't decide where he plays with Pogba.
A
Thanks a lot for the replies guys!
Looks like im going with A!A!
would you change this team 3-4-3
foster, jakupovic
valencia, stones, evans, friend, amat
hazard, firmino, deulofeu***, tadic***, capoue***
aguero, ibrahimovic, grey***
to this 3-5-2:
foster, jakupovic
valencia, stones, evans, friend, amat
hazard, firmino, barkley***, redmond***, lamela***
aguero, ibrahimovic, diomanide***
?Do like the 3-5-2 but wouldnt wildcard or take a -12 for it
im seriously considering -12 hit 😀
if barkley rise tonight in price i cant make my 3-5-2 awesome team 🙂it can be -8 hit if i leave deulofeu
Definitely not.
The 4 players you have added in the second team add very little imo.maybe
tadic, capoue and grey out for redmond, lamela and diomanide ? -8 hitNo. An 8 point hit makes little sense. Give your team another week and see how they go. You can not judge them on one game. Patience is key to this game.
ok i will, thanks mate
Forget about Barkley. Keep Tadic, Capoue and Gray (Gray for one more week at least)
thanks ! i will
No need to take any hits with the original team tbh, the only player id consider dropping atm is Deulofeu
Just do Deulofeu to Redmond, a good move and no need to panic or take silly points hits this early - your team is good.
6.0 Everton midfield cover? Welcome to the fold Bolasie.
thinking of him or maybe barkley is the best everton pick 😉
He offers security of starts of Del Boy, and is a great enabler. He's hot and cold but I can put up for it at that price
Is he the first 6.0 yet 25m player?
Got him too and will use the cash to upgrade gray, a midfielder or defence...
Don't know if posted before:
http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-city-aguero-penalty-zabaleta-11760685
Fellow city players say they have confidence in Aguero keeping pens. That isn't too surprising, given he scored a hat-trick too. Just got to hope he doesn't make missing pens a habit.
At least he saved the misses for Europe.
He has a poor record, 4 in 8 missed someone said on here on Tuesday. (I didn't check tbf)
😎
Pep already said it.
Who cares what the players think? He said he would let the players decide next time. this closes out any doubt.
How many price changes between now and when we get another FT?
You were right - just tonight. 🙂
Can then make transfers for GW3 once United vs Bournemouth kicks off tomorrow. If Ibra scores and goes up Friday night that'll cause a headache. (Using both FT's before the GW really starts)
Yep! Same camp here. 😕
Currently have the same dilemma. If he looks like rising tonight I'll need a hit to get him in. If he rises tomorrow I'll use both FTs before weekend is over... Not ideal.
you can but do you really want to do a transfer after just 1 match in the second gw, before assessing all the new information that weekend matches will give us.
This.
I'd say 2. Thursday and Friday. Maybe 1.

First world problem - is it wrong to captain ibra over aguero?
Don't think you can go wrong they are both superb picks.
you have come to the right place. this is a forum to discuss first world problems like this one.
not wrong but i wouldnt do itIt's a dilemma alright. Ibra has home advantage, aguero can literally explode anytime, anywhere and get 3-4 goals, but may be tired from midweek
Morning chaps, help appreciated!
1) Mahrez, Payet or Martial?
2) Valencia, Terry or Walker?
Rest of team:
Foster
Stones, Williams, X
Hazard, Coutinho, Lamela, Capoue, X
Aguero, I bra
(Jaku, Diomande, Amat, Wilson)
Cheers!Mahrez
ValenciaThanks. What I am thinking too but very tempted to get Payet in.
Mahrez & Valencia
Thanks
Payet Walker
Is this a WC team? Looks too good to be from GW1!
Yep. I am pathetic but couldn't get the team/coverage I wanted after any rises. Only 4 changes, biggest issue was picking Oscar over Hazard (without 2.5 itb..)
Thanks
Valencia, Payet
Thanks
Redmond captain. Might change it.
away to man U seems like the wrong week for a redmond captain punt.
Go with your gut
Might need a wheelbarrow for those cajones
Foster
Shaw / Stones / Kone / Amat
Erikson / Hazard / Tadic
Kun / Ibrahimovic / Gray
Schmeichel / Friend / Fischer / Fletcher
Hi guys, what do you recommend doing with this?
Thank you.Play Fischer over Koné.
Save FT.No transfer this week then use 2 next week with fischer out
fischer your only issue. anything in the bank?
0 in the bank.. Will most probably save FT and potentially do Tadic - Redmond and then upgrade Fischer..?
sounds ok
straight swap to ramirez another option, sideways as that seems
Morning everyone. what do you reckon, Play Jaku for pot luck clean sheet or Heaton for save points? Thanks
Is it worth -4 to swap Ali, Townsend to Lamela Sterling
no
straight swap ali for lamela
Yes.
Thursday's pressers in chronological order:
Bournemouth
Arsenal
Liverpool
Tottenham
Everton
Leicester
Manchester United
Burnley
Swansea
No times stated unfortunately. The last one being Swansea at 5:30pmExceeeeelent
one l 🙁
Thanks for this Tim
Thank you!
A) Capoue and Antonio Valencia
B) Friend and Snodgrasstough but A
Is lallana nailed on?
Now that Mane is injured id say yes
My keepers are Foster (who's playing Everton this weekend) and Heaton (playing Liverpool). I also have Evans from West Brom and Barkley from Everton. I don't have any Liverpool players.
I'm set on playing Barkley, and I don't like playing my defenders against my attackers.
So far I'm planning on starting Foster, but benching Evans, to somewhat limit the risk. Should I start Heaton instead? Or bench Barkley and/or play Foster AND Evans?Double trouble imo
As in start Foster, Evans and Barkley?
Foster and Evans for me. Not sure on Barkley whos the alternative?
Capoue or playing 4-3-3.
Start Foster, no doubt. Barkley as well.
Wheter you should start Evans depends on your alternatives.Stones (sto), Friend (sun), Koné (MID) and Fuchs (ARS).
Start..
Foster
Kone - Stones - Fuchs
Very close between them all though..
Any compelling reason not to save my FT?
Cech
Shaw / Kone / Evans
Firmino / Alli / Noble / Redmond
Wilson / Aguero / Zlatan
(Jakupovic, Townsend, Friend, Mee)play Townsend over Noble?
Think I prefer Bournemouth (H) to Spurs (A), but thanks for the suggestion!
Save.
Apart from Kun, who do you think will be the must have players from GW3 onwards?
Ibra
Sanchez
Hazard
Firmino
KdB
Kane
AzpiliThere cannot be so many must haves, surely?
Stones and Ivanovic.
Whoever scores well in GW2. We are a fickle bunch
I know I'm really going to want to fit Payet into my team soon
Thoughts on these scenarios to replace Ayew?
A) Direct £7.5m replacement (including Lamela)
B) Downgrade to Redmond or Bolasie and have £1.5m spare to get Ibrahimovic in if he goes mental on FridayB
Thanks. Any preference on Redmond or Bolasie?
b
B sounds reasonable. Normally I would go directly to Tadic or Lamela, but you might enjoy that flexibility if Zlatan explodes.
Cheers everyone
B with Redmond.
I'm hoping this Bolassie/Baines combo works down the left and Bainsey keeps his OoP status. Should be better than the old "Bainaar" combo > Baines/Pienaar. Thoughts?
I think Baines will likely remain fairly OOP. Actual defense has never been his strong suit, and RK expects that from his defenders. Pursuit of Lamine Kone, suggests to me a desire to play three in the center at back (Williams/Kone/Funes Mori plus Jags and Holgate also in that position) and let Coleman and Baines surge up around Gueye who is parked in front of the three.
I agree with your analysis, but surely Jags needs to be on the pitch most of the time for leadership and his clearances/tackles.
Btw, do you think Deulofeu, Mirallas or Bolassie will start on the left of that front 3 this weekend? So put Jags in in place of Kone for now, if he is healthy. Williams will become a leader very rapidly as well. Point was, that he is piling up more central defenders than would be needed if he was only going to play two at a time.
I'm not sure that Bolasie will go straight into the starting lineup this weekend after less than a week with the club, unless RK is wanting to fire a shot across the bow of Gerry and Kevin in terms of their fitness and work ethic. I'm not sure I see that happening, because it seems unnecessarily destructive, but Gerry never lasts 90 anyway, and I think Bolasie comes on as a sub at the 60 minute mark for one or the other. Probably Kevin on the left for starters. And with Gueye in front of them, much of the tackling is happening at that point on the pitch, before the action gets to the back line. He had more tackles than any of the defenders in GW1
Cheers, lad!
So how do you think they lineup?
Stek
Williams, Jags, FM
McCarthy Gueye Barry Bainesy
Ross, Gerry, KevinClose to that
Stek
Williams/Jags/FM (in some combination)
Seamus Gueye Baines
Barkley
Gerry Kevin
Lukaku
…but what do I know?Or McCarthy instead of Seamus if Coleman isn't ready yet
And Holgate could fill in at any of those center back positions. I think he is going to be really good.Nice one. Good luck to us!
Baines is firmly on my watchlist. If he starts to score well I will upgrade Williams
bes 5.5 midfield option? i say Snodgrass
Gaston

I think Stoke will beat City. There I said it
